“Still being cleaned”
Review of Kotitirtha

Kotitirtha
Reviewed 5 May 2014

I was told by the locals the government is cleaning it and that work should be completed in a few months. At the moment it was a huge dry pond with layers of muck at the bottom and steps leading down to it. The vast expanse of it and the cobbled path around it, coupled with the charming local puja halls all around tell me that when it is done it will be a wonderful place to visit.

Kotiteetha is lake of shrine water, but now due to bad maintenance and negligence this lake filled with plants and small crocodiles. Inspite of several warning people used to wash clothes and utensils. This lake spoiled and died now ? Now vet bad to see this lakey. Govt not taking any serious actions....

Kotitirtha is a huge pool of water within the main town. There are steps leading down to the water on all sided on an eclosure for priests to pray in right above the water on one of the wallls. The steps are shut though, and there is a stern warning to people to stay away from the water as 'Many have died every year'. Walking around the pool takes five to ten minutes. If you are lucky as we were, you'll get to hear the haunting chants of the priests.

This lake is terribly maintained. Not cleaned from decades or so.
Do not get into the water. Its not worth visiting this place as all you will see is dirt in and around it.
