We found this place after reading a friend's recommendation on his blog and the reviews here on TripAdvisor. I was a bit skeptical as there were so few but a friend's recommendation can usually be trusted. Hence we booked a room. In short, we ended up staying a day later, were allowed to stay in the same larger room although we asked to move to a smaller room. The lower price was given to us without having to move. Although not directly on the beach, this is a great boutique hotel. Located in the middle of their own vineyard, it has the charm of any place in Italy or Napa. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. I wish I had remembered specific names but everyone was great. The girl serving both at dinner and breakfast both days we were there was a delight. The reception always had a smile and was ready to help out with requests and advice. The rooms are super modern, clean and usable. We had a huge bed which was fun and everything we needed was available in the room. One drawback was that their wLan in the lobby kept getting cut off but this was a problem on the provider's end and not the hotel's fault. If you go, make sure to try their wine. We loved their chardonnay which they only started producing in 2007. We also adored the outdoor patio for drinks and appetizers plus the restaurant was great. Breakfast on the terrace was the highlight every morning. Make sure to look for some kind of package deals as I am sure you can find cheaper rates that way as opposed to simply walking in like we did but after some shady places we visited on our travels through Croatia, this was a true relief and a great find, regardless of the price.

After a week of looking for a high quality croatian hotel with character we'd nearly given up. then we found this place which exceeded our expectations in every way. very nice rooms (they gave us a double upgrade) at affordable prices. wine produced on their own vineyard was high quality and delicious, and only the same price as the barely-drinkable local stuff you buy by the litre jug in most restaurants. food was outstanding - fresh, innovative (snail curry?) and beautifully prepared. best of all though was the service - every member of staff was keen to do everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. it's set in beautiful rustic surroundings and is stylish but understated. hope to go back some time. thanks rachel and will london

Hotel Boskinac is a rarity in Croatia: a small, luxurious country hotel, gourmet restaurant and winery in the finest agritourism tradition perfected in Tuscany and the Dordogne (and essentially unheard of in Croatia). You'll find the hotel in the unlikeliest of locations - - the wild, rocky and almost mystically beautiful, edge-of-the-world remoteness of Pag Island. Hosts Boris Sulijic Boskinac and Mirela Sanko are beyond gracious and helpful - - they are genuinely kind, and happy to spend time talking about their island and its history and traditions, their wine-making, and their vision of Dalmatian Coast travel that aspires to something more than the July/August package tour business.

The hotel, nestled below one of the few remaining forests on Pag, is brand-new, of traditional design, and exceptionally well decorated. Out-of-doors, a garden terrace, overlooking vineyards and miles of stone-wall bordered sheep enclosures, is a perfect place for sampling Boris' outstanding results in the wine cellar. The bed-rooms are very large, well appointed and comfortable. The dining room is beautiful, and the food - - at both dinner and breakfast - - is excellent. Our stay was far too short!

Gegić was a sort of grapes on verge of disappearing but by using scions from these old vineyards that still existed at the south of the island of Pag, owner Boris Šuljić grow the Gegic variety vineyard and saved it from extinction.Mr.Boris Suljic also planted two red varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and two white chardonnay and sauvignon blanc. Production of wine in the winery Boškinac is exclusively made from grapes produced in his own vineyard. The winery and tavern Boskinac can accommodate up to 70 people where more traditional meals and wine tasting are served. ... more   less
