Le Grand Menasson

I'm driving the length of France with an energetic 3 yr old. To slip off the autoroute and escape to this oasis is fantastic. Picnic dinner by the lake followed by a swim. Big swings in the trees. No cars to be heard, just crickets.

We stayed a night at Le Grand Menasson on our way from London to the Dordogne and were delighted. it is a beautiful, peaceful little hotel just 5 minutes' drive from the A10 a little south of Tours. It has beautiful grounds with a small lake to walk round, or take a swim. Madame Requin could not be friendlier and gave us a wonderful breakfast.

An excellent place to stay with warm comfortable rooms. The hosts are also warm and comfortable and provided a very satisfying French breakfast of croissants, fresh orange juice and coffee. The grounds are expansive and attention to detail is obvious everywhere. Le Grand Menasson is within easy driving distance of several castles and supplies are easily replenished in the nearby village that actually has a supermarket with everything needed for a picnic lunch. It's dead solid perfect!

Room Tip: They all looked good to me.

Ghislaine is a wonderful, natural, open, accepting (gay friendly) person. I would love to return one day.
Spend a little more and get the self-contained little cottage Madras, you won't regret it!
Your own wood fire by the bed, a rocking chair beside the window with views of the expansive grassland and lake - wow!

We spent a lovely time at Le Grand Menasson this november2011. Ghislaine, the hostess was very hepful in evry thing, the room was beautifully furnished, the breakfast with fresh bread, croissants and fruit straight from the garden was some thing you do not get even in 5 stars hotels. It's the perfect location for visiting the Chateaux de la Loire.

Stayed in June with my husband, our two children (ages 7 and 9) and my mother. It was our second stay with Ghislaine and Albert; the first was in 2007. Our kids loved paddling the pond in the small boat, and that Albert loaned them bicycles to ride around the property. We loved having a full kitchen, two full bedrooms and bathrooms and even a sleeping loft for the kids. The country quiet is wonderful in the evening. Absolutely recommend it.

My mother and I spent a lovely time with Ghislaine at Le Grand Menasson. The rooms were beautifully furnished and very clean. She was a very welcoming host and made us very comfortable. I would love to go back, and will be doing so as soon as I can.
