My friends and I spent a little more than we intended for dinner, but we didn't regret it! Lovely, quality food.

“Best Goat Cheese Salad, ever, and everything else was wonderful, too!”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

While hiking with a group of friends around Mt. Blanc we had a one-night stopover in Les Houches. The proprietress of our hotel recommended "Le Basilic" as the place to go in the small town. We were not disappointed! It's a cozy place with superb food. I ordered a spicy shrimp salad appetizer and followed it with the best goat cheese salad ever: two thin slices of crispy bacon, grilled to perfection over a generous round slice of fresh goat cheese on a bed of local baby lettuce. Just divine! In fact, the mixed green lettuce was so wonderful in its simplicity that we ordered two extra side salads to share. We also ordered the Tartiflette for the table. It was gone in a blink. The vegetarian prix fixe, the duck confit, the pork and even the pasta dishes were delicious as well. We rounded up our feast with assorted desserts to share. All of which were delightful! A perfect evening after a long day hike. When in the area, I will definitely return to Le Balsilic!

“still as good”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

Returned here on holiday and was wary it might not have been as good as three years ago. Why did we worry? The welcome, the service and oooo the food were every bit as good as we remembered. Not very busy on a weeknight in summer season in what is predominantly a winter ski resort, but even although there was a large group celebrating a birthday we were made to feel as though the solitary waitress had all the time in the world for every customer, advising on wine and food and taking an interest in us all. The kitchen can be seen from the dining area and the chef created some very impressive dishes. Everything was beautifully presented and looked so appetising as it was brought out. It's small and comfortable and must be one of the best restaurants in this area. Can certainly give some of the much more expensive restaurants in Chamonix, a few miles away, a run for their money. Meal for 3 was £120. we had 2 courses 1 drink each and a fairly expensive bottle of wine. It was worth every penny.
