“The Best!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 January 2012

It has been 2 years since I stayed for several nights at the Slalom and I apologize to Tracey for not posting for so long. She is by far the best hostess I have ever met and she runs a spectacular hotel. We had a large double room with views that go forever. The bathroom could not have been cleaner or better appointed. Great bar and great breakfast. Staying in Les Houches was for us a real advantage. Very close to Chamonix but quieter and more homey. Walking distance to restaurants. I can't say enough good about the place and kudos to Tracey for creating such a welcoming environment.

What can we say? Came here with four friends and was somewhat sceptical before we got here as I couldn't believe such good reviews for the hotel. Surely it couldn't be that good?? Well we wern't dissapointed. Tracey, Heather and Min are all so friendly and couldn't do enough to enure we had a good time. Place is incredibly clean, tidy and the rooms although basic, are well appointed. Lots of attention to detail throughout the hotel. The intimate bar ensures you get to know the other guest quickly (sorry Tracey if our joviality offended anyone!!) and bar prices VERY reasonable. This place is such a great find. The gondola to the top of the mountain is only 30 or so meters away so no long treck or queues for busses in the morning. Ski hire only 20 meters away from the front door. Ski hire for 3 days c€50 so very reasonable. Ask Serge about his photos in the shop! Skiing in Les Houches is fantastic. Couldn't believe just how quiet the local slopes are. Lots of reds and blue runs and a few blackto caters for the beginner to advanced. For the expert, have a go on the Kandahar run. Great fun. Alternatively, take a short bus ride into Chamonix to ski across other mountain ranges so enough to keep any level of skier happy for a week or so. Ski passes for 3 days for the entire range c€160 with a family pass for four c€270 so very reasonable. The only dissapointment is that we came second to last in the quiz evening but then I guess we can't blame Tracey for our stupidity. Really, this is hospitality at it's absolute best. Well done Tracey and team and thank you for one of our best (old) boy ski trips.

This was a great choice for the start/finish or our Tour de Mont Blanc. Well appointed and spotless rooms, great breakfast and a fun bar area. Tracy and co really looked after us. We wouldn't hesitate to book again if visiting the Chamonix Valley. Must visit in winter one day and try the skiing.

I'm not one for praise or writing reviews normally.
Having stayed in Les Houches on numerous occassions, always in appartments, never again.
Staying with Tracy at the Slalom was fantastic, we were made welcome from the moment we arrived even down to warm water being served to my daughter at her request, nothing was too much trouble.
Accomadating three diffrent breakfast times was no trouble for Heather in the morning (for non egg eater Heathers scrambled eggs are superb).
For me theres now only one place to stay in Les Houches and thats with Tracy, thats if she'll have us back.

This was a return visit this time with my 13 year old son. The Slalom hotel offers an almost ski in and out location and is just opposite the Bellvue lift station and three excellent little restaurants. The proprietor Tracy is a most friendly helpful hotelier and runs this lovely little hotel superbly. The hotel has no on site car parking but the free public car park at the Bellvue lift station is almost opposite. The hotel bar is a small friendly meeting place with a light contemporary feel and a popular meeting place and with splendid views of the mountains and across to Chamonix. The breakfasts are excellent! My son and I thouroughly enjoyed our stay and we will definitely be returning again soon.

We have to agree with all the praises written about this Hotel. Tracy goes out of her way to make your stay comfortable & keeps you well informed on eating & touring options. She was the most friendly hostess we had in our 6 week europe trip & we felt we were having discussions with one of our friends after a few days. Tracey even told us how to get access to a 1 star michelin restaurant in chamonix for just 19 euros each. The views from the apartments are stunning...something inspiring to wake up to.
Breakfast is hearty & varied , including local fruits making up for a great start to the day.
As we went in the last week in September, the crowds were right down & this enhanced our hiking experience, for popular tracks we were on our own for hours...
We will come back !..

Note: the Hotel does not have a Restaurant, however Tracy sent us to a local restaurant, minutes away which was good value & had great regional food. There is a local bus service to Chamonix or a 5-10 minute car trip

We stayed with Tracey in August 2011, can't recommend this highly enough, Tracey is the perfect proprietor, English, excellent knowledge of the surrounding areas and where to walk etc. The standard of the hotel is excellent with very tasteful decor, and the views are stunning. We were pleasantly surprised to find our room had a bath, most welcome after a long day hiking. Nothing is too much trouble for either Tracey or Anna, breakfast is excellent, highly recommend, also, just speak to Tracey when you book & she'll sort out the airport transfers for you.
An ideal location if you want to be away from the hustle & busstle of Chamonix, bus & train service into town is frequent and free of charge to travel up & down the Chamonix Valley. A beautiful place to visit, abundance of walks at all levels and extremely handy for anyone doing TMB. The small bar is perfect for a well earned refreshment after a long day.
Thank you Tracey for everything, you & Anna were wonderful hosts & we cannot thank you enough - would not hessitate to rebook with you next time we come back.

Best wishes to you both,

Ged & Sue.
