Honestly this hotel is hard to beat in les houches, it's practically 1 min walk from Bellevue lift and 2 stops on the bus from pararion lift. Tracy and Heather make an awesome team, we travelled with 2 small kiddies and they made us all feel most welcome. The kids loved it and the personal touch the ladies showed towards the kids were far beyond the norm. We travel a lot but this is the first time in a smaller more personal hotel, well worth it and we hope to be back. Room 4 has awesome views. Well done to Tracy and her team, we had a fab time at Hotel slalom.

We visited Les Houches for a short pre-Christmas stay, primarily for relaxation but with a bit of skiing. The commune of Les Houches is quite strung-out with a number of distinct hamlets along the old Chamonix road in addition to the small village centre. The Slalom really gives you the best of both worlds, as you're right opposite the Bellevue cable-car and Coupe du Monde chairlift but can also walk into the village centre very easily. The Trabets hamlet itself also has ski rental, bakery and restaurants so you needn't go very far if you don't want to. If you want to visit Chamonix or the ski areas further up the valley, the bus stops just opposite the hotel. Ask for a "carte d'hote" from your accommodation and you get a free ride. Ample parking by the Bellevue cable-car (plus hotel's own parking area, when it's re-built).

There was a genuinely warm welcome from Tracey and Heather, who clearly put a lot of thought into making the Slalom comfortable, friendly and unpretentious. The room was big and light, with a great view of the Chamonix valley peaks and a great mix of minimalism and cosiness (fleece blankets ideal for curling up in). Really comfortable bed and classy duvet, plus an immaculate bathroom. If we had been there for a longer stay, a bit more storage might have been good. TV with British and French channels and DVD player, with a whole shelf of films to choose from downstairs. Good WiFi in the room. Handy ski room with comfy chairs for de-booting and a boot-drying machine. If you're a light sleeper, it might be wise to ask for a room on the far side of the building from the road; it's not a motorway, but as the main route to and from the Prarion gondola station, it gets a fair bit of traffic, including the snowplough and the old windows in the hotel are picturesque but single-glazed only...

You'll need to timetable something active each day to counteract Heather's breakfasts - I've never had bacon and eggs that good in a hotel before, not to mention the generous spread of bread, pastries etc etc. Nice bar area and Kévin the barman seems to know everything there is to know about the valley.

We left with the feeling that we'd been staying in the best kind of B&B rather than a.n.other ski hotel and wouldn't hesitate to make a return trip.

We recently stayed at the hotel Slalom whilst in Les Houches for the UTMB race. The hotel was modern and clean, our room was spacious with stunning views up and down the Chamonix valley. Nothing was too much trouble for Tracey and Tamsin who made us feel very welcome. We arrived as guests and left as friends. We would highly recommend this hotel for a home from home stay.

We did the Tour du Mont Blanc this summer and stayed at Hotel Slalom before and after the tour. Tracy allowed us to ship a large box of hiking gear in advance of our arrival and allowed us to store gear there while we were out on the trail. Both rooms were large to spread all of our gear out and organize. The bathrooms and shower were great! The breakfast was good and on our return they remembered we were egg eaters and cooked them up for us. Tracy's staff was knowledgable and helpful to get around the Chamonix valley. On our return we felt welcomed home! Even if you are not hiking I would recommend Hotel Slalom. The whole experience there was fantastic!

We used Hotel Slalom at the recommendation of our tour company as a base the night before and then at the conclusion of a 10-day walking holiday around Mont Blanc. The room was very spacious, modern and functional, with a balcony to the street and windows to two other sides as well. And the bathroom was huge. All up, very comfortable indeed. Continental breakfast was excellent, especially the perfect croissants. The English owner Tracey was very accommodating, storing our luggage while we were on the walk, recommending really good restaurants within just a few minutes’ walk, and providing good advice and help on about how to get around in the Chamonix Valley. Staying in smaller, quieter, better-value Les Houches is much preferable to the busier, more upmarket and touristy Chamonix further up the valley. The hotel is 1 minute from the bus stop, and as the hotels provide a card which gives free transport within the valley, Hotel Slalom is a really good option. It has a home-away-from home feeling you don't get in many hotels.

Room Tip: We had the room to the right at the top of the stairs on the second floor, with views on three sides...

We just came back from the Tour du Mont Blanc trek (which was great). Our start point was Les Houches and we couldn't have chosen a better place then hotel slalom.
Tracy and molly were very welcoming and helpful with everything we needed (Trek and restaurants recommendations. The rooms are clean and pleasant.
The Trek virtually starts opposite the Slalom hotel and we were very happy to stay there additional night after finishing the trek (feels like coming home..).
It was a delight being at the Salalom and I warmly recommend it.
