Ourselves and our 2 year old daughter couldn't have been more delighted with our weeks stay at Hotel Slalom!!! Not only was the Hotel perfectly located within a 2 minute walk of the gondola, you could ski to the front door, there was great ski storage, the room itself was immaculate and the bathroom was amazingly clean and modern. Heathers breakfasts were too die for and she was so welcoming and friendly!!! Tracy was the perfect host, making us feel completely at home and going above and beyond to make us comfortable. Kevin the bar man was great and is our daughters new best friend, along with the toy mice that were made to feel part of her holiday!!!! The whole experience was really personable and all of the ladies working there couldn't have done more if they had tried!!! We are already planning our return trip to Hotel Slalom and having hesitantly chosen les houches over chamonix initially, we would now always make it our preference!!! Having skied for over 10 years, we thought we had previously found perfection until now!!! Thank you to Tracy, Heather, Kevin, Brooke the dog and the two mice for making our daughters first skiing holiday so wonderful!!! Cy, Emma and Lois Cotterill

It's a 'no Brainer'
Great hotel, unbeatable location, really well looked after, incredibly accessible
Fully deserves its trip advisor rating and I have no doubt that hotel slalom will continue to look after all guest incredibly well, because everyone there clearly cares a great deal
Book it, would be my view!

Honestly this hotel is hard to beat in les houches, it's practically 1 min walk from Bellevue lift and 2 stops on the bus from pararion lift. Tracy and Heather make an awesome team, we travelled with 2 small kiddies and they made us all feel most welcome. The kids loved it and the personal touch the ladies showed towards the kids were far beyond the norm. We travel a lot but this is the first time in a smaller more personal hotel, well worth it and we hope to be back. Room 4 has awesome views. Well done to Tracy and her team, we had a fab time at Hotel slalom.

We visited Les Houches for a short pre-Christmas stay, primarily for relaxation but with a bit of skiing. The commune of Les Houches is quite strung-out with a number of distinct hamlets along the old Chamonix road in addition to the small village centre. The Slalom really gives you the best of both worlds, as you're right opposite the Bellevue cable-car and Coupe du Monde chairlift but can also walk into the village centre very easily. The Trabets hamlet itself also has ski rental, bakery and restaurants so you needn't go very far if you don't want to. If you want to visit Chamonix or the ski areas further up the valley, the bus stops just opposite the hotel. Ask for a "carte d'hote" from your accommodation and you get a free ride. Ample parking by the Bellevue cable-car (plus hotel's own parking area, when it's re-built).

There was a genuinely warm welcome from Tracey and Heather, who clearly put a lot of thought into making the Slalom comfortable, friendly and unpretentious. The room was big and light, with a great view of the Chamonix valley peaks and a great mix of minimalism and cosiness (fleece blankets ideal for curling up in). Really comfortable bed and classy duvet, plus an immaculate bathroom. If we had been there for a longer stay, a bit more storage might have been good. TV with British and French channels and DVD player, with a whole shelf of films to choose from downstairs. Good WiFi in the room. Handy ski room with comfy chairs for de-booting and a boot-drying machine. If you're a light sleeper, it might be wise to ask for a room on the far side of the building from the road; it's not a motorway, but as the main route to and from the Prarion gondola station, it gets a fair bit of traffic, including the snowplough and the old windows in the hotel are picturesque but single-glazed only...

You'll need to timetable something active each day to counteract Heather's breakfasts - I've never had bacon and eggs that good in a hotel before, not to mention the generous spread of bread, pastries etc etc. Nice bar area and Kévin the barman seems to know everything there is to know about the valley.

We left with the feeling that we'd been staying in the best kind of B&B rather than a.n.other ski hotel and wouldn't hesitate to make a return trip.

We recently stayed at the hotel Slalom whilst in Les Houches for the UTMB race. The hotel was modern and clean, our room was spacious with stunning views up and down the Chamonix valley. Nothing was too much trouble for Tracey and Tamsin who made us feel very welcome. We arrived as guests and left as friends. We would highly recommend this hotel for a home from home stay.
