“Great location!”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

This hotel is in the perfect location. The rooms were basic, but they were a clean place to sleep. There is not air conditioning, but depending on the time of year you more than likely do not need it! The rooms were big and the bathrooms were modern. The breakfast was very nice. The staff was incredibly helpful and offered us great insight into the area. A Great place to stay!

This hotel has the best location in Prien, directly on the lake and adjacent to the dock with ferries and boat rentals. This is a big hotel with a top-notch breakfast. Our room was small but nicely appointed with a very modern bathroom. The staff was superbly helpful. Highly recommended if you want to be right on the lake. To get to or from the train station, you can walk (20-30 minutes) or take a quick bus ride. The old-fashioned steam train stops in front of the hotel.

We stayed 4 nights in this hotel and had 4 dinners while there. Our room was ok it was a special room for people with allergies. Furniture was simple but nice and cosy, bathroom was small but had all the necessary things one needs for a short stay. We stayed on the ground floor which was fine for us, no problem to open the windows at night one of them had anti-fly protection. It was very quiet too. But the served evening meals where below anything. Twice in four days there was fish, and it was served without any interest, just banged a fried fish on a cold plate and half a patatoe which was by far not enough for an average man. I had mainly vegetarian dishes, like dumpling with mushroom all of the same colour swimming in a soup plate. Or a salad Nicoise was served without any sauce, just some green salad and some Thunafish from the tin and some (seldom) olives on a plate, really not very tempting. Breakfast was ok. Everything available but service was so unfriendly and arrogant I could not beleive my ears and we are by far not fussy and never complained about the "sad" menues.

Room Tip: Choose rooms in House No. 1 entrance side as the other side is the side with the little steam railwa...

The other English reviews have it about right. The hotel is well situated by the ferry service and the "toy train" if you need the latter. So you can have breakfast and then head out for some island hopping on the lake.

Breakfast was of a good quality in the cafe area although the over spill is into the restaurant and if the weather is good outside. So no complaints with breakfast.

Fellow guests all seemed to be retired German couples. We were the only English speaking guests.

We had the half board since it seemed a reasonable price and having arrived the first night were tired from the drive through Slovenia and Austria and didn't want an additional option of finding somewhere to eat. The half board seemed reasonable although you obviously get a reduced choice. Starters, main course and sweet. The main course was a choice between two items. The sweet you had what you were given. No frills may be the best description of the half board but then it was economical.

The wifi is free and worked well throughout most of the hotel. The breakfast area and restaurant is at the out reaches of reception not being in the two houses of the hotel. I was slightly put out by the manager seeming to offer me 24 hours wifi for 48 hours of stay, the numbers didn't add up. So she gave me a weeks. Either way there is a presentational issue when they try to offer you 24 hours for a stay of 48 hours. Something for their white board.

Car parking was fine and free. The views over the lake at night were good. As has been said it's very quite at night so you get a good nights sleep with the window open. The shower cubicle has a bit small whilst the bedroom was big. The double bed was firm and good. Decor very good from an old hotel which had been renovated.

Will be back, a good relaxing chill out area when passing through the region.

We have stayed at this hotel for the past 6 years and will certainly be doing so again. We find this area to be a very good location for Munich Airport. The staff are very helpful and always allocate us the same room which we find to be clean and well appointed. The outside restaurant overlooking the Lake is beautiful with the boats coming back and forth. The food is very good and the service friendly and helpful. The hotel is excellent for walking around the village and sightseeing using the boats on the Lake and the steam train into town.

This hotel is more like a lodge than a hotel; rooms are finished in knotty pine everything :) and beds are relatively simple but sleepable. I think 'gasthaus' is probably the best description of these rooms. The room and bathroom were both very clean. At night, this location is wonderfully quiet and dark - perfect for a restful night of sleep. When you are ready to take the ferry to the Herreninsel or Fraueninsel, walk out the door and around the corner, and you're ready to go. There are a couple other hotels and restaurants in close proximity, so you will also find a variety of food options. The views across the chiemsee are beautiful.

I ended up here by walking into a tourist office to find a hotel for the night. Priem is dead in the evening for cafes and bars, so the port area where this hotel is located is probably the best place to hang around. Plus of course it's convenient to catch the ferry to the islands. I paid 70 euros for my room which was just a small single bed on the first floor. Even the check in lady looked at me funny and double checked the price. I guess I got fleeced at the tourist office :)

It was a little noisy in the morning but the sound of the little steam train "Chiemsee Bahn" outside was kinda funny. The train will take you up the road into town but its easy enough to walk. The hotel has free wireless internet (get a code from reception) and the breakfast was fantastic in a lovely room with outdoor seating.

Decent hotel, very clean and no problems. I think you can book it for less though if you ask them for a better price.
