“Pamper Day”
Reviewed 20 February 2013

Excellent pamper day. On arrival at the beauty treatment we were meet with a loverly smiling face. The young lady was very polite and nice and made us feel very welcome. The treatment we received was outstanding. Afterwards we made our way to the leisure suit. Fresh white towels the swimming pool/spa/sauna/steam room and changing rooms were very clean. Felt very refreshed afterwards. Lunch was Top Notch would very much recommend this hotel.

I stayed at the Best Western Blunsdon on business last night. I'm new to the area and am trying out various hotels in the Swindon area to find one that I'm comfortable in and that I'd be happy to return to on a regular basis.

The room size was fine with a great shower in the bathroom (room 233) and great coffee! I wasn't keen on the hairdryer - one of those fixed units on the bathroom wall with the hoses that overheat when used for any period of time longer than a few minutes - but the reception staff advised that they were able to provide a separate hairdryer upon request. One aspect of the room I liked was the addition of an extra door between the corridor door and the bedroom itself - this reduced light and noise from the corridor to aid a good night's sleep.

I ate in Carrie's bar - a cheese burger with fries. Very hot and a good price but feel more description could be added to the menu to include the fact that the burger (although tasty and homemade) included onion - which doesn't agree with me and of which I was reminded of at regular opportunities throughout the remainder of the evening!

I met a friend for a drink in the bar and the girl behind the bar was very helpful and able to answer all the questions we asked of her.

Breakfast check-in was a little slow and I wasn't asked if I'd stayed at the hotel before so had to find my own table and my own way around the food/drinks on offer.

On check-out I advised reception that I'd registered online for the loyalty programme the previous evening and the relevant booking was added to my account without prompting. All-in-all I had a pleasant stay and as the hotel is based around 10 minutes drive from my office I will more than likely stay again next time I'm in the area.

This hotel seems to be stuck in a time warp and not in a good way. Plastic flower arrangements and a mis-mash of styles in the public areas give a confused image. Marmalade is for sale on the reception desk (why?) and there are display cabinets dotted around with other items for sale including jewellery and ceramics (again, why?). The hotel staff were not particularly friendly, but check in/out was smooth and efficient. Bedroom was clean and adequate, but there was only one bathrode and a lamp wasn't working.
We had booked a one night stay with two other couples, and were also attending the Valentine's Masked Ball in the evening. It was a bit disappointing that one couple's room was up-graded to a superior suite, for no apparent reason, whilst the rest of us had a standard room.
Our evening meal was part of the Valentine's deal and was pretty good, though a bit of a production line to get everyone served. it would have been nice to have had a choice of menu. The ball itself was good fun and we really enjoyed the evening.
Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and freshly cooked food.
So, all in all, not a bad stay, but I would not stay here again. The whole hotel needs up-dating and modernising.

This is a strange one, the hotel is OK and if it did not have all the add on's like spa, pool, golf and beauty sessions it would struggle to make 3 star.
The carvery/breakfast room is like a 70's motorway services with food to match and pretty tatty. The main bar like a working men's club. You then have a couple of warmly decorated bars which are acceptable and an a'la carte restaurant where the the food and decoration are very good.
I stayed in the Pavillion which is located away from the main hotel and an outside walk the bars, restaurants etc.
The hotel is trying to please coach parties, business and leisure and really cannot make its mind up on what it really wants to be.
Overall the hotel needs a total makeover to really deserve 4 stars, as it is stuck in a kind of "it'll do" attitude. Staff were so, so, however the waiter in the restaurant, Michael, I think, was excellent and a credit to the hotel.
The website paints a much better picture than the reality.
So my summary would be. OK, could be so much better.

First visit for a family celebration. Didn't stay overnight but the room rates seemed reasonable and the leisure facilities were very good. We had the buffet which was well priced and although the food was mediocre, there was plenty of it and nobody went hungry. The ambience was good and there was plenty of space around the bar areas etc. We will return to try an overnight stay. The only criticism was that the napkins at Dinner were all frayed and very tatty!

A traditional hotel set in its own grounds. Leisure and golf facilities are great, good sized pool.

Comfortable rooms of a good size with real baths! The beds are comfortable and the air conditioning worked well.

The party setting was great and the buffet was middle of the road.

The breakfast was excellent, the best I have had in a long while. The food was best quality, well cooked and well presented. I would certainly try one of the main restaurants.

All in all a very pleasant hotel which I will certainly use again.

My wife and I stayed here on January 26th and found the hotel to be immaculate with large bedrooms.

The service was splendid and friendly.

The restaurant dinner and breakfast was superb and all was well organised with a lovely breakfast buffet.
