“Lovely relaxing stay”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

We stayed for one night only for a short break and had room on top level of the Pavilion. The balcony was nice to sit out on and gave us views of the golf course, tennis court & surrounding countryside. The room was very clean and spacious with large bathroom with good power shower. Breakfast was excellent with an ample selection to suit all tastes. On this visit we played the 9-hole golf course which had some quite challenging holes for a par 3 course and greens & fairways seemed very well kept. We also made use of the exceptional leisure club facilities in particular the swimming pool and being fairly local are now considering joining the leisure club. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely use the hotel again.

We wanted a place to stay near Oxford and booked this hotel. We booked two double rooms - one for my husband and myself and one for my parents. We stayed for only one night at this hotel but it was really lovely. The hotel is very nice with a quaint charm to it. The rooms were well furnished and comfortable. The breakfast buffet in the morning was outstanding...so much choice and very tasty. Highly recommend for a great place to stay near Oxford.

This is a nice hotel with a lot of space and character set in lovely grounds with golf, tennis etc. A great place for a short holiday. Food is reasonable, prices for drinks a little high, rooms spacious and well set out. You would think with 3 bars and several places to eat we would not end up sharing a bottle of wine and eating in our room, but there were so many people about, weddings, tour groups, large family groups, that we felt over whelmed by the noise and activity. A great place for large groups, but a bit daunting for a couple in the midst of it all. Staff seemed a bit chaotic and service suffered. But we were happy with room service. I don't know if it's always like this, but if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing time this hotel is not the place. One thing this, hotel needs to sort out is the breakfast layout. It's all there and fine, but why site the plates miles from the food, or the jam miles from the toaster? There was a lot f searching and walking involved in what should be a simple meal.

I stayed here for a wedding (also held here). To be honest in total, the time I actually spent in the room, even sleeping, was negligable but 210 in the main building was more than big enough for me. The staff were all friendly and courteous, especially those at the bar during the evening reception who kept the bar open a long time after the official finishing time (and consequently we drank them out of Jaeger and Tequila!) and one of them even gave my friends a lift home at 3am! I also got to see the wedding suite in the new building which is huge with a lovely big bed and views of the Wiltshire countryside. Breakfast the next day was a good solid full English affair and the reception staff had no problem with letting me check out late so that I could help with the wedding clear up. All in all a really nice place to stay.

We were greeted by friendly staff and then wowed by our room. Every aspect of our needs was catered to, even late housekeeping service after a very lazy morning. We decided to eat out on the evenings but the breakfast was great, everything you could want. Stunning views of the surrounding area and very tranquil, just what we needed. Not too far from local attractions. All in all a very pleasant weekend. We will almost certainly return and recommend to our friends and family. Thank you

We stayed for 3 nights. Though we only ate at the hotel for breakfast, the food was nice. The bars where lovely, the pool was great though a tad cool.
This is a very much family orientated hotel which has a library, tennis & squash courts, pool and sauna, children's outside play park, golf course and a mile long woodland walk. The staff where friendly and helpful.
We booked 2 rooms together but on arrival where given rooms on different floors, but eventually we were given rooms next door though not adjoining which would have been better. We had a problem with our tv freezing up and losing the picture and though we reported it nothing was done about it. The fridge/cooler in the other room was actually heating up our drinks instead of chilling them. Again this was reported but nothing was done about it during our stay.
And one other complaint we had was while we where in the swimming pool , our room was serviced but the maid left our door ajar and left bleach in our bathroom where our kids could have picked it up. Our phones were left in the room and as we had only gone for a quick dip but luckily although the door was ajar, nothing had gone missing.

Nice welcome at reception by friendly staff. We were given an upgrade as my husband is a platinum Best Western card holder. We were in the pavilion building which is a short walk from the main building. We were on the top floor and had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the countryside. The bathroom was large with separate shower and bath, plenty of toiletries and towels and bathrobe. Large bed and 2 easy chairs and small fridge. My only criticism is that although there was a coffee machine, kettle, tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room there were no fruit teas. Breakfast was very good (and this is good for me as we are picky as we have eaten in 4* and 5* hotels around the world), plenty of choice of fruit, cereals, yoghurt, pastries, cooked hams and the traditional cooked breakfast, with both fried and scrambled eggs and poached eggs cooked to order, or you can eat from the A La Carte menu for things like omelettes. Plenty of staff on duty of breakfast who were very good and attentive. Would not hesitate to stay here again

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony overlooking countryside
