“Superb venue to relax for a weekend!”
Reviewed 29 July 2008

Booked via Best Western to stay at Blunsdon House. On arrival there had been a mix up (Best Westerns Website error), which the Reception staff sorted out very quickly and to our satisfaction. We stayed in the Pavillion rooms, complete with balcony overlooking golf course and surrounding countryside. Superb views and as it was the hotest weekend of the year so far, the balcony made it feel like you were on holiday in Spain! These rooms were all air conditioned - so very comfortable in the hot weather. Made use of the gym, tennis, golf., bar and carverry restaurants. Staff so helpful and go the extra mile to help you. Due to the lovely surroundings and high standards it is very popular with weddings. We experienced 3 in the 2 days we stayed, but this only added to the relaxed and happy feel of the place. We willl definitely be coming back now that we have found this hotel- hopefully for a longer stay than 2 days next time too!

Stayed at The Blunsdon for a short break recently and we were very impressed. We had a room in The Pavilion which are slightly more expensive but worth the extra. Large room with everything you`d expect (including a customer-friendly fridge) and a balcony with a lovely view over the golf course and beyond. The bathroom was also large and well-appointed with an excellent separate shower.
Food in Nichol`s Restaurant was good, although the wine list wasn`t very exciting.
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful with plenty of places to sit and chill, as well as a walk right round the edge of the property.
Two minor niggles....
Could have done with more channels on the room TV. Only basic terrestrial stuff on it and I wanted to watch the Test Match.
And if you must put TV sound in the bathroom (WHY!) please include an on/off switch or volume control.

Bright and airy entrance leads to a darker reception area. This is a hotel of opposites. Some bits new others old. Could do with some upgrading in terms of the furnishings, but very comfortable in general. Bed was very comfortable and very large. Room spacious, if a bit dark. We had an early start on our first morning so ordered breakfast in our rooms. It was cold. We were there two nights and on both there was a wedding, so it was a bit busy everywhere. Had meals in both restaurants and have to say that they were both average. I can't really put my finger on it, but I just was not impressed, perhaps the weddings put me off, if things had been quieter, it might have been better.

We stayed at this hotel for the first time last night and on the whole it's a really nice place. The reception staff were very polite and our room was fantastic, nice and big, very clean, and very quiet. The only thing that lets this place down is the standard of the food unfortunately, which is a real shame as I've eaten here a few times over the years and it always used to be one of their plus points.

We were with a group of people and went for the carvery, which had a nice selection of cold starters. The mains however had obviously been sat around for a while which is fine if things are kept hot, but the food was barely lukewarm and it was starting to look a bit sorry for itself. The only vegetarian option was pasta with a mushroom sauce, which was ok but fairly uninspired for a 4 star hotel restaurant. There were a good choice of desserts but as we tucked in we realised the cream had gone off - but to the manager's credit he was very apologetic and quickly replaced everyone's food.

The bar areas are nice and spacious and the hotel and rooms are very clean. We would definitely stay again but next time we'll opt for the restaurant rather than the carvery.

Just got back from a lovely weekend break at the Best Western Blunsdon Hotel would really recommend it .We originally booked at the Menzies Swindon but cancelled after reading terrible reviews on trip advisor, especially worried about our car as they had no car park (with good reason it turns out) and booked through Best Western website . We were pleasantly surprised very friendly staff, nice clean room with flat screen tv ,fridge and coffee maker all nice little extras. We ate in the carvery both nights which was good value for money. There is a nice little pool, very warm water with jaccuzzi also sauna and steam room all free for hotel guests.Lovely setting and its own car park made for a relaxing time
