“Stunning castle in an idyllic setting”
Review of Schloss Moritzburg

Stopped by Moritzburg on the way from Dresden to Meissen. Didn't have a chance to go inside the castle but stopped outside and explored the area briefly. With water surrounding it, and the main road from town leading right to it, the castle is beautifully situated.

Would love to check out the interior next time but even a stroll around the outside is worth it.

Thank Flaul

I only disliked the weather - it was -20C:-) But the exhibition of "3 nuts for Cinderella" movie was stunning!

This is a fabulous castle/hunting lodge. I had been here before and took my husband this time. Unfortunately they are not showing some of the better parts of the castle right now. Our German (unfortunately) is very limited, and no one seemed to know English here. Perhaps they were telling people that the tour was limited, but we did not pick it up and were very disappointed with the tour.

The castle is located in a very suggestive atmosphere, in the middle of an artificial lake, with a very nice garden.
It presents a great collection of chinaware, especially of exotic animals, and can be for this interessing (but only if you are interessed in chinaware!).
The main problem of this castel is that the climate is too wet and moist (I have been there in summer and I was cold, even though I wore a sweathshirt). But, in spite of this, that is a very nice trip to be done: it takes only half an hour from Dresden, and there are many buses to take.

Went to see in the fall. There was a fishing festival going on and looked to be interesting tho I wasn't able to take it all in.... The Castle/Schloss was impressive and I'm sure would be beautiful in spring and summer but they had drained the surrounding lakes for the winter and were in the process of restoration. Also visited the smaller Schloss on the property where they raise pheasants and have a light house on the lake. Also very nice. All the parks are free and there is refreshments around...
