A wonderful haven tucked away between Lixouri and Xi Beach. The Apollonion Resort and Spa is the perfect place to relax and de-stress!

We stayed for a week and had a super time. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. Nothing as too much for them. The food was good and gave a wide choice for any eating preferences. The rooms were modern, spacious and extremely clean. In fact, that goes for the whole hotel.

I was really impressed with the hotel's attention to detail. They even have a sit-and-ride road sweeper that goes around the complex each morning cleaning up the leaves and flower petals that have fallen overnight!

I really can't give the hotel enough praise and we shall certainly be returning in the future.

I have been holidaying in Greece for 20 years and this is one of the best hotels I have come across but this is a place where people come to relax by the pool/beach it is a very quiet area with no lively night life.

What you need to consider that this is a holiday hotel on a Greek holiday island. I must admit to being someone who when holidaying in a hot country wear smart shorts and a shirt to an evening meal (I do not mean to offend anyone but I am on holiday). I stayed in a large 1st floor standard room, with a large balcony and wonderful views. There was free air conditioning, a free safe and a fridge, the room was cleaned every day thoroughly. The grounds were immaculate; staff very friendly and nothing seem too much trouble for them.

Breakfast and evening meals were a buffet style. I must agree with a previous comment that breakfast was the same every day but what a huge choice we had, it was magnificent. For the evening meal there was a good choice the chips were cool but in Greece not everything is served piping hot. Drinks were more expensive than the local tavernas, £12.50 bottle wine £4 for a large beer (similar hotel price in England) but there is half price “happy hour” between 4pm-6pm and you can put drinks if you wish in your fridge for use later.

There were plenty of sun beds around the pool and the beach was a 5 minute walk away, where 2 sun beds and a umbrella were 7 euros a day when we arrived but the dropped to 3 euros later in the week. There are several tavernas on the beach. Our favourite was to turn left and stroll along the beach for 10 minutes until we arrived at the steps up to the Fishbones Taverna where Mario looks after you very well. Just sit back and enjoy the wonderful sea and mountain views.
Having visitied Kefalonia before, we hired a car for just one day from the English speaking Mercury Car Hire. It’s located just outside the hotel gate for 47 euros for the day. We travelled up the coast to Assos and Fiskardo two great places not to be missed.

I would definitely recommend this hotel and location to anyone who likes to just unwind and relax. Try it yourselves most people will think it is marvellous place

Room Tip: I E mailed and asked for an high floor room which I was lucky enough to be allocated

This hotel will certainly not leave you disappointed! The standard of accommodation is very high and well maintained with no expense spared on the design, fixtures and fittings.

The staff couldn’t be more helpful, and the self-serve restaurant offers an extensive choice of food made from quality ingredients.

Some reviews say bottles of wine are expensive in the restaurant, but you can order a glass of house wine for around 4 euros if you ask. A bottle of water was 2.5 euros. You can also buy half price drinks at the poolside bar during happy hour and take them into the restaurant with you.

You’ll need a car if you want to get out and about, with Lixouri centre about 10 minutes drive away. Xi beach, which is red sand, is a few minutes walk away. There are tavernas and restaurants within walking distance if you need. To reach the hotel many people take a ferry from Argostoli (the capital), which takes around 25 minutes and costs under 10 euros for two passengers and a car. You can, however, drive around the estuary, which only takes around 20 minutes longer.

The hotel has a free outdoor cinema showing a different film each night, or there is a pianist in the bar. In terms of entertainment, that’s really all it has to offer, but this ensures the hotel retains an upmarket feel and is perfect for a quiet, romantic break!

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the 'Pandora' block, situated in a quiet part of the resort with great views.

We have spent a week at the Apollonian resort with our 10 month old son. In our package, dinner was included. The hotel is quite new and offers everything one would expect from a five star resort in terms of facilities. In terms of perception of luxury you should manage your expectations, even though there is absolutely nothing wrong with the resort.

Service throughout the hotel is good and people are extremely friendly. Breakfast is tasty and even though there is no variation from day to day, there is still plenty to choose from. The quality of dinner is fine and the buffet offers various warm dishes, salads and desserts. As dinner is included for most guests, you should not expect the most luxurious dishes or ingredients. Still, it is tasty, varies from day to day and if you have any special requests, the kitchen is happy to prepare it.

If you want to visit the rest of the island (which you should!), renting a car is required. As there is a car rental office adjacent to the hotel, this should not be a problem.

To summarize:

What did we like:
• Friendliness and service
• Breakfast
• Swimming pool and facility
• Spa treatment
• Dinner included (easy for the little one and relatively cheap)

What could be improved:
• Hotel spray (special vanilla scent, especially in the lobby area which was very nauseating.)
• Service in the bar/swimming pool area (English not well spoken and service not very flexible or professional)
• Facilities in the room; complimentary water is an absolute necessity and should be provided or refilled every day, as one should not drink the tab water.
• No coffee and tea facilities in the room.

We were able to book a holiday package including flights at a very low price, probably because of the low season. Including dinner I would not recommend paying more than € 150,-- per night for this hotel. Up to that amount, you will get your money’s worth.

This was our second stay at this hotel, the last one was 18 months ago when it was just opened, and we thought it would get better, but sadly it has not. The rooms are good, we had a suite, and the hotel is very clean and tidy, the grounds are growing nicely and the staff are generally friendly but seemed to pay more attention to people who spent more money in the hotel. The food was at best "not bad" it was repetative and predictable and mostly on the cool to luke warm temperature, OK if you liked cold potatoes and veg and cold chips, i dont.
Sadly the management seem not to have listened to past customers with regards to one or two items. 1) The beer and drinks prices are far to high, thats why a lot of guests went out in the evenings either to the other hotel nearby, where the drinks are half the price, or even went into Lixouri, as the taxi fair was offset by the drink prices, 5 euros for a glass of beer? and 8-10 euros for a coctail, no way when it is 3 in the next hotel or 2 in Lixouri
2) The hotel should impose a dress code for men at the evening meal. I always wear long trousers for dinner in a "5*" hotel, and dont understand why this hotel allows men to wear shorts and T shirts with flip flops to dinner,
It is sad to say that we think that this may have something to do with the hotel having no "atmosphere", you could count the number of people in the bar in the evening on one hand some nights when we got back, i wonder why? in fact the only time the bar seemed to be busey was at "happy hour" before the evening meal, when the drinks were half price.
One posotive note was Ryan, he really did try to get things going and good luck to him, perhaps the manager should listen to some of his ideas to keep guests in the hotel, thanks Ryan we enjoyed you nights.
We feel it a shame to only give this hotel 3*, as it is generally a nice hotel, but we have stayed in a lot of 5* in the past that knock spots of this hotel, so, if you want to be 5* give 5* service by improving the standard of food and listen to constuctive remarks.

Room Tip: The suites are big and well worth the extra cost.
