“my first visit to Greece”

An amazing hotel well worth their five stars. The staff at every level were polite, helpful, friendly, never saw them shirking their work and they all looked so happy, Well done, Everywhere was spotless, the food was good and different each day. The spa was fantastic, the staff great. Massage and scrub a great way to start your holiday very good prices and reduction in Greek vat made them even cheaper. Lovely pool area again spotless Hotel could do with a bus up and down to ferry at present a local bus goes at 9-30 back at 3-30 3-30 put no return you have to get a taxi back, bus 1.30 euro each way taxi 10 euros each way As the hotel is away from the maddening crowd not a haven for teenagers Yes there are earth quakes but that is mentioned in information to kefalonia. The round the island discovery trip by thomsons was excellent but didnt see any other tour operators doing trips, only an island trips by boat in Aggostoli Managed to see the turtles and dolphins which was great. Taverna 5mins walk from hotel going towards beach has great food and priced very reasonable owner Carole is very kind and helpful. Husband has a taverna in Kassi we sadly didnt get there A big thank you to all staff and management for a wonderful holiday will return when the mozzies are not so hungry Great holiday enjoyed by all

Room Tip: all rooms have some views as hotel stands on its own higher floors have better views but the hotel i...

We have just returned from this hotel and this is our second visit and both times the stay has been excellent. This is not for party people but for relaxing. As stated if you go with teenagers the night life is quiet but if you hire a car you can go to Aggostoli via the ferry or Louxori.
I have a couple of issues which if rectified would assist matters.
The wifi in certain areas is poor, especially at peak times ie before evening meal , and at evening meal the restaurant should refuse males who go in shorts. The rooms could do with a kettle and the hair dryer needs to be more powerful. Only minor matters but overall staff and fasilities are top notch.

Cannot fault anything, staff first class, especially resteraunt staff and manager, spotless everywhere, spa is a must, staff here exceptionally friendly. Please note there is a lot of earthquake damage in this area and lots of visitors were unaware of this, I think travel agents should tell all visitors as there are still tremors going on several times a day, however please don't cancel as this is one of the most beatifull Greek Islands we have visited ,,, and will do again.

Room Tip: All rooms near the bar will have quite a lot of music in the evenings, we were in 317 up the top nd...

Stayed here with my partner for 11 days. Great escape! Those with kids found keeping them amused challenging at Times. 10 euro's each way to the ferry and 5 euro's each on ferry to get to Argostoli is quite an expense to do daily, recommend a hire car or taking planned trips. Food is great and something for everyone. Should u fancy a Kefalonian meal then there is a local restaurant about a 7 min walk away. Near to the local shop. The local XI beach is on your doorstep with taverns whom service the sun beds with drinks should you want to get away from the pool. We used the spa several times and I have to say it's well worth a visit.

We stayed at the Apollonion from 1st june til 8th june 2014. Oh my what a beautiful hotel!
Our room was smashing, perfect size, on the ground floor with a private patio area. The room was tended to every day, clean towels when old ones left in the bath. Comfortable beds (didn't understand previous moaning! ) nothing to complain about there! !
Pool and outdoor areas, very pretty, didn't actually swim (due to bad weather! ) and plenty of sunbeds. Art gallery worth a visit, as is the spa. Had a modelling sculpture massage, almost requested my money back when I didn't walk out a size 0, 6'tall and looking like Cindy Crawford, but decided that the 50 minutes of pure bliss was worth every penny! Actually, I felt the spa prices were very reasonable, starting at around 12 euros, my treatment was 40 euros, which when your on holiday is a lovely treat and the staff were really nice there.
Talking of staff....omg, I have never, ever been so impressed by a group of people! Superb! They really could not do enough to help and make your stay a great one. From the ladies at reception and in the shop and bar, the house keepers, but the biggest applause had to go to all the restaurant staff. The Maitre'D was wonderful, greeting you with a huge smile and enquiring after your day. His staff were fantastic, looking after your every need, filling glasses etc and always with a huge smile. I cannot praise them all enough. Well done guys!
Now onto the food, all I can say is get me some elasticated waistbands please! Yummmmmm! Again, I read previous complaints and think some people have nothing better to do! Breakfast was lovely, a full range of breads and pastries, cereals, fruits, yogurts and of course every type of egg, bacon, sausage etc. (And a great pot of tea!)
Dinner was fabulous, huge choice of salads, veg, fish, meats and pasta's. The food varies everyday, so no need to have the same thing. Puddings were also gorgeous. It is go and chose what you want, which some seem not to like (liking it to a canteen!) But it does mean you can go up as many times as you like!
Overall, a stunning hotel with everything on site you could wish for. Have fun!
Thank you to every single member of staff who just made our holiday extra special xxx

From the ferry crossing Agostoli to Lixouri - a perfect start to the holiday a real introduction to the Greek isles. The hotel is absolutely first rate, ALL staff exceptional and very friendly. Loved the idea of a cinema & art gallery- fantastic. TV not a problem as I don't come away to watch telly!! However there are internet radio channels on and I found radio 2 so that was a bonus!
A great choice at mealtimes and lunchtime the menu reasonable & very good. Am not one for 'animation' entertainment and music blaring out round the pool so this holiday was ideal.
Will definitely return to this hotel, had 2 spa treatments too, very refreshing!!
Everything clean and spotless, access to Wi-Fi sometimes a bit hit & miss but again you are on holiday!!
A lovely relaxing time had by all !! Can't wait to return!!

Room Tip: All rooms are good, but there are some with a pool connected.

Travelled here the first 2 weeks of May with my wife and 2 boys aged 13 and 11. We usually go all inclusive 4 or 5 star. Being a snob it was an attempt to avoid the loud, snout-in-trough clientele that frequent our usual holiday hotel. Success !
A modern hotel, 99% unscathed by the February earthquakes and just the relaxing haven we were looking for. We had a Family Duplex Room which was very nice and all areas of the hotel were spotlessly clean. No problems with water pressure or temperature at any time and towels changed every day.Linen changed regurlarly. Limited T.V. channels.
Large pool, again, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable sunbeds. Shallow baby pool and main pool has a depth of 1.5 metres lowering to 1 metre.
Food was very nice, both breakfast and dinner.Always plenty of choice. Poolside taverna was nice at lunchtime with meals priced between 6-10 euros. The poolside bar served any drink you could desire but was a little pricey, 5 euros for a large beer and 8 euros for cocktails. A bottle of wine was 12 euros but unlike one of the previous reviewers, i found both red and white very nice indeed. Much better than previous hotels we have stayed at. All alcoholic drinks apart from the wine are half price between 4-6pm.Restaurant was much less canteen like than i was expecting and all the staff were fantastic, especially Fay and the young lady Giona who kept my glass topped up and always managed to spill a drop down the side of my glass. It was her first 2 weeks at the job and she was so charming and tried so hard that i found it endearing.
Elina at the pool bar was also exceptional. The beautiful Theadora doubled up as one of the receptionists and resident art expert. What an asset to the hotel she is. Mr George or George Kontorinis, the hotel Operations Manager is an absolute star. So friendly and always has an interesting story to tell about any subject in the world ! If you have a word with him, he can point you in the direction of a chap that will take you out to the uninhabited island.its only 5 minutes and he can pick you up whenever you choose.Because of the earthquake this and other watersports and tavernas weren't open along the beach but things should be up and running by now. The hotel manager was always walking around and the owner turned up 3 or 4 times whilst we were there. Both very friendly.
The hotel was fairly quiet during our stay, possibly due to the time of year, but i'd imagine most people use the hotel as a base to explore kefalonia and may not get hectic even in high season.Car hire is available a 1 minute walk from the hotel.
Entertainment is low key. George is still tinkling the ivories, very well in my opinion, and the outdoor cinema shows big films from the last few years. Modern art in the art gallery this year. Very interesting but over my head i'm afraid. Theadora did her best to explain !
My 2 boys and i used the tennis court every morning and spent the afternoons swimming and playing table tennis and reading. We didn't get to see much of the island but what we did see was beautiful.
Would definately recommend this hotel and will certainly be returning.Would probably stay in the swim up maisonettes next time. Didn't think so until we were shown around one and they really are very nice.
