We would never come back to this hotel. One of the reasons:there was no enough shade at the pool area, and more over,we had to pay for the umbrellas on the beach. Also, it was impossible to fall asleep until night show was over.

This hotel is ideally located for a peaceful holiday, but only a few euros away from more activity if what you prefer.
Very clean in all areas. Clean towels & sheets everyday.
Food is lovely. Mostly traditional Greek, with some mediteranean cuisine thrown in, always plenty of salad & veg.
We arrived late at night after the dining room had closed, but they had saved us all an evening meal as they knew we had been travelling all day.
Shop is run by hotel owners wife & the prices are the same as in the town. If there is something you want but she hasn't got it, she will get it for you within a few days & not bump up the price.
Animation team (stacy & Valentino) are very friendly, we go on holiday to relax so we told them I had a note from my mother excusing me from activities & my husband had a note from the doctor, so they didn't expect us to join in but they still came round & had a chat with us. They're helpful & friendly.
We went with Tompson holidays, the rep for the Hotel is Chris. He is truly lovely. He is in the hotel frequently. He doesn't sit around waiting for you to find him, he will walk round & catch up with everyone to make sure you're happy. He likes to make the effort to address everyone by name & makes the effort to know who is leaving on what dates etc. He has lived on the island for a number of years so is a font of knowledge. He works very hard & puts the hours in, but he is still always has time for all his guests.
In the rooms you will get a hairdryer, kettle, fridge, tea, coffee, sugar, plenty of coat hangers & storage space. AC is also included.

Room Tip: They tend to put families on the ground floor. Rooms on the middle floor benefit from shade so no ne...

We have just returned from another fantastic week at the Cephalonia Palace. The food, drinks and service were of the highest quality, and all of the hotel staff would do anything to make your stay more comfortable. It was sad to see the hotel so quiet (maybe only 40 people in a hotel with 300 capacity). The location wouldn't suit everyone, it's very quiet, think Shirley Valentine and press the pause button. It's either relax by the pool or relax on the beach. There are some quiet walks close to the hotel where the hedgerows are full of wild herbs and flowers or you could always get a taxi to Lixouri (10 euros each way) but there's not a lot to do there either. We booked through Tomson and our Rep,(Mr Chris from Derbyshire) was a grey haired mature man who was confident, informative but not pushy and gave you impression he could handle any crisis. It suits us but maybe not for the 18 to 30 crowd. We'll be going back again next May (3rd time) and just hope that Mr Costa, Anna, Christa and Voula haven't lost any of their Greek charm or energy.

Room Tip: Because of the location of the hotel, all the rooms are quiet, it would be your choice whether you h...

Just returned from a weeks all inclusive at the Cephalonia Palace hotel (15-22 May 2012). The hotel is pretty good to be fair and I suspect most guests will leave with few or no complaints. The rooms are basic and a bit small (for 3 people) but were kept very clean. The meals were suprisingly good and the staff very polite. The Animation team which if I was to believe some previously reviews would reduce our stay to a cheesy tackfest were hard working, amenible and pleasant company around the pool.

The main problem was that there were hardly any fellow guests. Probably less than 10% occupancy. This was exacerbated by the hotels remote location. Don't get me wrong, this suited some guests but for others it left them with an increasing feeling of cabin fever.

To provide some context, the hotel is situated just off XI beach. There is one other hotel (The 5 star Appollion) and a small complex of self catering residences. A combined bar, restaurant and shop owned by the hotel is situated at the beach but wasnt open during our visit. After that, you need to travel about 5 miles to the town of Luxiouri. No bus in low season, so its a 20 euro round trip in a taxi. Luxiouri doesnt offer much really, its not a resort town, although the harbour area is pleasant enough and offers a few restaurants and bars, but like our hotel were very quiet. In fact the whole island was very quiet. Agostolli is a good place to visit and has numerous shops, restuarants and even a few funky bars, but, the last ferry back to Luxiouri is 9.30pm so giving you little opportunity to try them out.

Overall, we had a decent enough week. Kefalonia is a lovely island and the hotel was good. We certainly would have enjoyed our stay more though if we had gone later in the season when its busier. If you are thinking of booking for a stay here in low season (May & October) be prepared for a very quiet holiday!

My wife and I recently returned from a lovely holiday (May 12), from the moment we arrived we were treated really well by all members of staff who were really friendly and helpful particularly the Bar Maids at both the Pool Bar and the Main Bar(Vola). The hotel is kept very clean and tidy and we found the food was quite varied despite the limited numbers of guests. One of the owners(who reminds me of Charlie Chaplin, not that he doesn't speak but looks) was a lovely man. The Head Waiter was very profesional and courteous. The beach is only 200m away and has ginger coloured sand.

This was our first family holiday with our 4yr old son and it turned out to be a lovely holiday experience for all. The hotel staff were very pleasent and the variety and quality of food was as good as i've had on any holiday. The hotel is very off the beaten track, but this is clearly advertised im sure online or in travel agents, but for us this made it very peaceful and quiet and just what we were looking for. The beach is of a fair size and only a stones throw away. It was also not overly packed, even in high season when we went. We didnt mind too much paying for sunbeds a few times as i think this is to be expected of some hotels, even all inclusive. The entertainment staff were very nice and especially good in the evenings with the kids disco. On the downside i would say that 4 stars was stretching it for this hotel as the rooms were basic & bathrooms in particular were very cramped. If you want to venture out as mentioned you need get a bus [and possibly then a boat for a bigger town] or rent a car as theres nothing in walking distance. Also if you plan to sleep before midnight just hope your room is at the back of the hotel because the entertainment can be very loud for rooms like ours situated at the front. All in all though we were very happy with our 10 day stay here and would definately recommend this hotel, especially for young families

stopped here for two weeks in October 2011, very relaxing place, a little remote, meaning a taxi or bus (when they are running) to Lixouri, but it you just want a pool side relaxing holiday this is the place. All inclusive food and drink was very good, although as always the food is a bit repetitive by the second week. Friendly staff.
