“Stunning views, cozy cottage”
Reviewed 19 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

Everything you need in this cozy but spacious cottage. The view is amazing and even in the unpredictable February weather we took advantage of the cliff walks and stunning ocean views. The location is unusual in that we could see the sunrise and sunset over the ocean. This would be suitable for families as the house is well-equipped for cooking and kids' movies and games. It was nice to be greeted with a gift basket and peat for the fire. We saw hardly a soul (beyond the sheep) but the people we met on our walks were so friendly. Rosaleen and Mike were very accommodating and responsive, and we would return in a heartbeat.

“Idyllic cottage for a perfectly relaxing break”
Reviewed 19 January 2017 for a stay in January 2017

The location is absolutely ideal - and Achill has some amazing scenery on offer - on calm days its idyllic, stormy days dramatic and if you are lucky enough to get a clear night it is breathtaking.

It is in close proximity to small towns for shops and amenities - and also an ideal location to explore what County Mayo has to offer, with Ballycroy National Park a beautiful drive away. (NB. Tourist season is from Mar-Nov, so some places close for the winter season)

The cottage is well equipped, comfortable and really smart. Ideal for families, couples, friends and anyone who wants a relaxing break.

The owners answered any queries I had promptly and accurately, so the booking and whole stay was seamless. She even left a welcome basket with much needed essentials after a long drive.

We would definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family - and hope to return ourselves maybe in the summer months!

“A Fantastic Summer Holiday in Cloughmore”

Ocean's Edge sits perched on a beautiful vantage point on the Wild Atlantic Way, with a commanding view of Achill Beg and Clare Island to the South West. While the odd car will drift by (and often stop to take in the beautiful view), the main flow of traffic on the road past the house comes in the form of sheep. The house provides very comfortable accommodation for up to eight (we are a family of five), and is nicely furnished. A well-equipped kitchen, excellent wifi, a stack of good books, games and DVDs ensure that our stay felt like a home from home. Achill Sound is a short distance away (about 10km) for essentials and access to the (phenomenal) Western Greenway, while Pattens Bar in Cloughmore provides a warm welcome and a very decent pint. As frequent visitors to Achill over the last 20 years we've stayed in different parts of the Island. Cloughmore won us over, and our two weeks here were among the most enjoyable we've ever had. The location, the daily tides, the changing skies and this cosy house all made for an excellent holiday. Happy to recommend.

“Get-Away Bliss”

If you have read any of my previous contributions you will notice that I only review when I am delighted, elated, pleased, excited or horribly disenchanted and miserable.
On this occasion it is the former set of adverbs that triumph.

Ocean’s Edge Cottage is a refuge, a sanctuary, a place of serenity away from the chaotic and the humdrum. The interior is decorated in such a way as to make one feel calm and comforted. The location is ideal and the view from my bedroom window was an artist’s dream.

Achill itself (this was my first visit) is a wonderful space and must be the very essence of the Atlantic Way. For families and those who love the outdoors, whether walking, cycling, kite flying or picnicking, Achill has it all without distractions.

Don't be put off by the roadside position of this cottage. We did not see a single car pass by!!
