We visited the hotel hermitage in July 2018 for a wedding. We stayed for a few days and found it to be a welcoming and immaculate place to stay.

I feel that this part of Italy is off the beaten path for English tourists and this is an absolute travesty. The hotel is a very reasonable taxi ride from Brindisi airport and is perfectly located to explore the southern heal of Italy (although you'll definitely want to rent a car to do this, they are available at the airport).

The staff at this hotel really make sure you are taken care of and the facilities, food and rooms are perfect.

If you are looking to explore southern Italy, I can really recommend this hotel as a starting point.

Wonderful hospitality at The Hermitage. We visited for a friend’s wedding and it was a great location. Galatina is nearby and the coast is only half an hour drive. The hotel has a wonderful pool and the staff are incredibly friendly.

We stayed for 10 nights at this hotel in june. Our room was clean, the bathroom was spacious and towels changed daily, we were pleased to have a large balcony, but not all rooms have them so would advise you to ask if you want to sit out on your balcony with a glass of wine. The hotel is situated about one kilometre from Galatina, so we would recommend you hire a car which would enable you to see all of the "heel" of Italy. Breakfast was good, eggs cooked to order and the restaurant food in the evening was excellent. However it was the owner Francesco and the staff who made our stay so pleasurable. All the staff were pleasant thoughtful and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, we were very sad when our holiday came to an end. We would definitely recommend this hotel

Room tip: A rooms at the front above reception have large balconies, they are also quiet

Me and my girlfriend had pleasant holidays in winter time, we were used to cold temperatures in our country, but here are mild temperatures with lots of sightseeing. Hotel is located in center of peninsula so you have great starting point for everything you want to see in the area, it is good to have a car with you or to rent it, than you can go everywhere. With vintage look of the hotel was like walk in time, external view of the hotel was nice too, with palms and cactus was so genuine experience of south Italy. Rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. Staff were very hospitable, they meet our every need, it felt like we belong in there.

My friend and I booked a reservation online (10 days in advance) to ensure we had a confirmed room because our dogs were registered in the expo. Upon arrival at check-in time, we were informed the hotel was overbooked and there was no space for us. No one notified us of this change, no courtesy phone call or email. We were referred to a small apartment about 3-4 km away which Hotel Hermitage claimed to have the exact same amenities as their hotel. Once there, we realized that this was completely false. The room was very small (we were told it was a nice, large room), there was absolutely no grass area anywhere within walking distance for our dogs to relieve themselves (which was grossly inconvenient), no wifi (as promised by Hotel Hermitage), we were told that at least parking for us would be complimentary when we came back for the expo that afternoon but we were still charged despite showing the attendant the parking pass. Twice during the evening expo, the manager came to us and said he might have a room available at the hotel and would we be interested in taking it – only to return a few minutes later to say 'Sorry, the guest did finally arrive and check in, so it's not available anymore' ... We are extremely displeased with the dishonesty of Hotel Hermitage and the poor customer service we received. As a person who has worked in the hotel industry and patronized other 4-5 star hotels, this was by far one of the worst experiences I have ever received as a hotel guest. The comped sandwiches / water from the bar and a 27 euro discount off the total bill does nothing to change the picture in our minds of how horribly we were treated. We will not be coming back.
