“A beautiful and perfect familyresort in Sicily”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

We wanted to visit Sicily this summer and booked us a trip July 24. we stayed there for 14 days. We booked directly on the hotel website. And booked flights from Trondheim to Palermo via Stockholm with Norwegian. Acacia resort is a great resort and the service is great. A large room on the 1st floor. Half Board with breakfast and dinner was superb. The rooms were cleaned every day. Pool very clean and nice. Large enough for both small and large. Entertainment good. Free tennis, free mini golf. The kids loved the place. All staff very cheerful and service minded. Would highly recommend this hotel. We had rented a car the entire stay. It is a good idea since it is far from the hotel to the center. We drove each day to Cefalu and stopped at the Supermarket Conad 3-4 km from the hotel towards Cefalu where you could buy water and snacks. We will definitely be back.

I have gone back to Acacia Resort, year after year, since 2010 and always had a wonderful time.
A unique combination, with modern conveniences , old world charm and elegance. Magnificent gardens, wonderful views of the sea, fantastic cuisine (must try all the Sicilian specialties and wines), professional and warm, genuine service. Some advice:
Remember to keep windows closed as sometimes mosquitos can be very active!
Make sure to call front desk if A/C is not working as some guests turn it off from the electrical box ( many Italians hate A/C)
Take the opportunity to visit the nearby archeological park, Cefalu', take a tour of the fabulous Madonie Park and the circuit where the Targa Florio ran ( the Acacia is located at the very start of the first edition). Do not miss the various museums dedicated to this epic motor race (Campofelice, Cerda, Collesano, Termini Imerese with also the historic GH delle Terme)
Travel all the way to Petralia Soprana, a truly hidden gem!

Room Tip: Rooms on third floor have fantastic views!

I would like to begin by stating that our overall impression of the resort was good, but a four star rating means very good and we felt that there were some important factors which had an adverse impact on our 11 day stay. This review will deal with different aspects of the resort – we don’t have much to say about the entertainment as we didn’t spend much time in the bar area – some nights were noisy but not too late at night.

Acacia Resort: 5/5

Grounds and pool beautiful, well maintained and clean. We were there in the height of the season and found adequate sun loungers either at the pool or on the beach. The beach itself was a mix of sand and pebble but a walkway was provided to make entering the sea easier. There is a charge to rent towels for the pool and beach if you don’t bring your own. There’s a tennis court, children’s playground, mini-golf as well as a gym with table tennis/trampoline/ baby-football as well as weight training and other keep-fit equipment. The rooftop Spa, with sauna, hammam, gardens and pool are delightful however the only services offered were pedicure, manicure and massages, no possibility for waxing.

Bedroom: 3/5

For a couple this would be a nice room but we had booked a family room and found it cramped for the four of us, the children sharing a somewhat noisy sofa-bed. Only one chair is provided although there are two more on the balcony, even so, it was not possible for the four of us to sit around a table. The bathroom too, although well appointed, was small for family use. Other guests with children sharing we met also complained about room size. The room was clean, with good quality bedding and towels, and a very good housekeeping service. A mini-bar and free safe is also provided and we were able to use free wi-fi from our room (perhaps owing to our proximity to the bar).

Restaurant: 4/5

Large buffet with a lot of variety and generally of a high quality. We never had trouble finding a suitable table but sometimes it was very busy. Breakfast was served from 7 -10am but I thought it a shame that eggs were offered only hard-boiled or scrambled, the latter invariably barely warm. Italy usually has great coffee but the Nescafé machines were not wonderful to say the least. Dinner always offered a wide selection of salads and cooked dishes, however there was no variety in the cheese selection and the desserts looked great but tasted synthetic and very sweet. Fruit was a great disappointment – there was fresh water-melon and melon every morning but tinned peaches, pineapple, and pears. I had been hoping for some wonderful summer fruits, plums seemed to be plentiful but not ripe. We were surprised that no water was provided so were obliged to buy bottled water; likewise coffee had to be taken in the bar or terrace and the cost added to your tab. The wine list was extensive and not too pricey but for some reason a 2,50€ charge was added to the menu price for each bottle ordered when we came to check out.

Childrens Activities: 3/5

After reading other reviews on Tripadvisor we were disappointed by the miniclub. Giuseppe who was in charge of the children’s club was wonderfully eccentric, dynamic and loved by the children. The rest of the team seemed rather bland by comparison, perhaps understandably. We had been given to understand that there would be a wide range of activities provided for the children but in fact there were two hours in the morning from 10-12 and again in the afternoon from 16-18. The children were invited to eat with the mini-club team too. This in itself posed no problem and inasmuch as we appreciated the craft work undertaken by the kids but we had hoped for some sports – football/tennis/volleyball or some other physical exercise other than just a splash around in the swimming pool. There was a treasure trail one day and another they played mini-golf, and that was it. We were also concerned by the lack of security as children tended to wander in and out of the club when they wanted to. The kiddy disco at 9 pm was the highlight for our children every evening, frequently followed by some entertainment. Our children didn’t complain, they had a good time: better organization could have made their stay more fulfilling. From our point of view we were unable to relax as we were uncertain whether our children were still at the club or heading for the pool or beach searching for us.

We stayed for 12 nights and after a week or so would have been glad of a change of scenery. We had rented a car for our stay but it was an expensive luxury as we didn’t use it all that much. The weather was perfect – around 30° everyday with a slight sea breeze, the room air-conditioned, the staff very friendly and helpful – all in all a great holiday, but I suspect next time we’ll try another resort.

During my first Sicilian trip, 4 years ago, I discovered Acacia Resort, and got a very positive feeling. So, this July i came back. I was very impressed by the growth of the plants and flowers, which in these years magically developed, creating a luxuriant oasis. I also observed an increasing level of quality comfort received, in several fields:
1) restaurant service. I think the 4 stars don't reflect the standard offered , the breakfast (one of the most complete I ever had), the new sea-bar lunch service, and the dinner buffet , are absolutely extraordinary for food quality and very choreographically exposed
2) courtesy and professional service by all the employees, starting with the reception, and following with all the other sectors.
3) evening animation. There are two proposals, for younger and less young, and typical music (sicilian, napolitaine, the seventies, and so on). The atmosphere created by the magnificent environment, incentives you to enjoy and partecipate.
4) beach and swimming pool. Both offer now green relaxing areas immediately outside the beach , so you can relax even if you don't like the sand or the pool . The access at the sea is now easier, thanks a special mobile bridge which permits a direct diving.
5) Last, but not least, also if with supplementary cost, on the top of the resort you can find a wellness center absolutely enjoable for services (massages, sauna, hydro swimming pool, etc.), a beautiful roof garden and a panoramic view.
But Acacia Resort presents a big problem: time flyes off very fast!

Overall, had a lovely trip to the resort, however, a few things put me off bearing in mind we were half board. Firstly, the food at the pool bar was all made in the actual restuarant and brought out to the bar and microwaved. I wasn't keen on this. Second thing, the drink prices were crazy. By the end of the 3rd day, me and my friend spent nearly 90 euros on drinks alone and this was not even alcoholic drinks either. We eventually took a walk to a local supermarket and brought our own which worked out much cheaper. thirdly, we were MADE to have a drink with the evening meal. The rooms were clean, the balcony was a good size and the food was amazing. I was a bit disappointed by the fact that there were no pizza selection in the evenings as this is what Italy is famous for. The pool was clean and so was the pool side. I would definitely come back again but will know what to look out for next time.

Stayed here as part of a group on a UK tour for 5 nights. Nice rooms with good facilities. Breakfasts and dinner were superb. The food here was very good indeed with lots of choice. The waiters were pretty grumpy though. The gardens and swimming pool were a delight. My only gripe was the LOUD and I mean LOUD music and awful LOUD entertainment. Ear plugs are a must at 5pm and also later in the evening. It did all stop by 11 pm thank goodness. Hotel in the middle of nowhere so no opportunity to eat out. Car a must if you want to explore.

Room Tip: A room at the front of the hotel over looking the coach park and gardens is a good bet if you don...

We recently stayed in this hotel & had a very pleasant stay. The room was very comfortable & a good size, also the balcony was a good size. The only downside was that the air conditioning didn't come on till 5p.m & went off in the night , but as we were out every day this didn't present much of a problem for us. The food was very good & there was a very varied choice. There was a lovely very large swimming pool & plenty of sunbeds. The beach was stoney & not good for swimming, but the pool was very good. Every night there was music & dancing & Hamid & his team made everyone feel very welcome. The resort is quite isolated so if you want to venture out you need a car.
All in all a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Facing sea or garden both are good
