We were group of friends, who went 10 days road trip through all Italy. This was one of our destination to see.... Too many tourists, especially Russians and French.... Go late evening if you want see beauty of Cathedral, otherwise skipped, if you dont have time....

It is such a thrill to visit a cathedral restored with such skill. Some might still pine the old and musty authentic Renaissance feeling, but I prefer the freshly defined curves, the human emotions and the floral touches of this Baroque masterpiece. A well written multi lingual audio companion would have been appreciated and could help pay for the upkeep. Just saying.

This is a fabulous building but they are repainting it inside....I didn't like the new paint job!! I think it is modernising an old building

OK. The whole city is a fascinating example of High Baroque but St Nick's cathedral is often pretty crowded with tour groups and school children. Either visit early morning or off peak or just try the outside and see what's happening...
If there's nobody much around, then try inside. There's quite a bit to see and it's worth the visit if you're there in Noto anyway, but compared to other Sicilian sights it's not worth a specific detour!
At least that's my humble opinion...

What a beautiful little town this is and at the centre is the San Nicolo cathedral. Stunning at night with the golden stonework lit up above the wide staircase - amazing that so much has been rebuilt since the cupola and roof collapse in 1996. The facade is wonderful, the bell and clock towers and the bronze main door are dominant features. Inside, the bright clean finish is plainer but has beautiful frescoes and a stained glass window above the main door.
In a wonderful setting surrounded by beautiful rebuilt architecture after the 17thC earthquake, the town is well worth its World Heritage classification and this is great example.
