We arrived to a very warm welcome from the owner, Laura. The villa is located off the beaten track and, although the unmade road is a little bumpy, this was no problem for us at all. The road leads to Agrigento route SS115 (a few km away) at the top end and takes you to Scala di Turchi and beaches (not very far at all) at the lower end. There were just the two of us and we stayed in the ground floor, very spacious bedroom (1 x double and a single bed) with bathroom, balcony and plenty of wardrobe, drawer space. A large dining room leading to a small, yet functional kitchen. We were glad to have the facilities which included a washing machine, dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. Laura had provided us with bottled water too and some basic ingredients in the kitchen (salt, oil, vinegar, dishwasher tablets, etc.). Two further bedrooms with balconies & fridges on 1st floor, both with balconies and on 2nd floor, two further bedrooms in the eaves, all with ensuite bathrooms. These extra rooms were not used by us or included in the cost of the villa hire. Outside, a lovely garden - huge with olive & citrus trees. A covered seating area and functional barbeque with outside sink and everything you'd need. The rental price was very good value and less expensive than many B&B's. You definitely need a sturdy car and not be afraid of driving down a bumpy road - you're on holiday, so no rush anyway! Bars, restaurants, beaches all closeby but not what we would consider to be within walking distance - but we didn't want to waste time walking (or in the heat) anyway. Two x supermarkets reasonably closeby (by car). We liked the village of Realmonte with 2 x bakers, a great supermarket (Conad) village square with bar and a weekly market (Tuesdays). Agrigento town is about 15-20 mins away by car and we drove past the Valley of the Temples sites frequently (go at night to see them lit up). Great bars, restaurants, shops and gelataria's in town (try Le Cuspidi, it's the best). Some interesting guide books in the house are provided in several languages, there's a TV with limited channels. Laura very kindly let us take one guide book home - she's so helpful and friendly if you have any questions - quick to respond via whatsapp. We have returned to UK fully relaxed and rested. Not sure if we will return to Sicily in the future with so many other places in Italy for us still to visit, but if we do go back, we would definitely book this villa again. Thank you, Laura.
