“Honeymoon paradise”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

We have just spent 3 nights at Borgo Santo Pietro as part of our honeymoon trip and it was absolute bliss. The grounds are amazing, the room beautiful and the staff made our stay absolutely perfect with nothing too much trouble. We particularly enjoyed our private dining experience in the grotto and were made to feel really special. Highly recommend -an absolute highlight.

Thank you Nicola for your valued comments. We are pleased to have made your honeymoon so rememberable and that you had the chance to experience the Grotto Dining. Many a marriage proposal has been made there as well! It is one of many intimate and romantic corners of Borgo and we're glad it was a highlight for you.

I've traveled all over the world, I've stayed at many places considered to be the best, and this is a truly special and magical place.

I've stayed twice now at the Borgo Santo Pietro, and there are three things that make this place truly unique: the resort itself, the amazing staff, and the location in the Tuscan countryside.

This is not a truly Tuscan resort, it's not a hotel, it's a fantasy conceived of by a couple, and realized by an amazing team of people. The Borgo is tiny - just a handful of rooms - and the staff outnumber the guests 3 to 1. From the moment you arrive down the long gravel driveway, you realize you have come to experience a truly magical place.

First - stay in the Valle Serena suite if you possibly can. It has amazing views, a fireplace cozily close to the bed, and you'll instantly feel as if you've been living in a chateau all your life. The other rooms are all charming as well, but this is the one you want.

Then, there's the staff. Gian Luca Toscano is the heart and soul of this place. An amazing, warm, funny, and wonderful person - I would come back year after year just to see him. And Rafael at the front desk, who rescued us in a downpour at the San Galgano Abbey is consistently charming, helpful, and kind. And so forth, and so on.

I would avoid eating at the restaurant, and instead explore some of the small and amazing restaurants nearby. La Capella is amazing. Bistrot dei Galli is cucina povere well done and delicious.

Definitely take the walk to the Abbey, and get a sense of the Tuscan countryside on foot. The upper church is an especially good example of a medieval chapel.

They've added a new spa, not quite yet open, and are contemplating more rooms. I hope that the owners will keep it small and magical. We plan to return in the fall.

Treat yourself to this place once in a lifetime. You will not regret it.

Room Tip: Valle Serena if you can get it. I would choose this over the Santo Pietro Suite, which in spite of i...

Thank you Nestor for sharing your very kind and detailed experience with Borgo Santo Pietro. We are so pleased you fully enjoyed your stay with us.

Part of our concept is to offer genuine local foods with attention to tradition, but with a bit of fantasy as well. In fact, all of the herbs and vegetables we use in our restaurants are organically grown right in our gardens here at Borgo. Our new chef this year, Francesco Gasbarro, has prepared menus that reflect this philosophy. His new creations pay homage to the Tuscan traditions whilst still making the natural goodness of the produce, meats and fish stand out. It’s hard to find a fresher meal!

Seeing that you prefer “cucinia povera” we would like to invite you to try our second restaurant, The Tree House Bar and Brasserie, which is open all day. Here you can find pasta dishes, pizzas and grilled meats done Tuscan style and in wood burning grills, all still using locally-sourced organic produce and meats.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and that you will be returning soon. We hope you will also join us at one of our restaurants next time. We’re certain you will be pleasantly surprised!

If you are able to afford this wonderful oasis you will find the value for what you get is bar none as good as it gets. Just 15? rooms - all suites that are beautiful in every aspect and detail. But the amenities and property is as if there are 100 rooms - with gorgeous landscapes, grounds, pond, tennis court, garden, pool, and two distinct restaurants and third pizza kitchen in the offing.you can do anything from here- and we were just here for three nights but you could stay a week and visit sienna or florence about a 45 minute drive, or other small towns, bike, take a vespa, just relax, we did an amazing cooking class, etc. The owners I am told are a couple who made this their hobby - I would love to meet them or write to them to thank them because they have taken their well earned dollars from another business and made this place their passion - every detail is beyond belief- every stone, every view.....we have travelled to a lot of wonderful hotels around the world and this is one of the best. Finally what we loved as well - is the service is not only perfect but even though its a relais and chateau its not stuffy- the staff are fun, and know how to have fun and relax as well. That for us is important.

Room Tip: check out each room on the internet as their web site is also the best ever and choose what appeals...

We were impressed by this place, the fantastic and huge gardens (incl a lake). The staff was super and the fact that this huge place only has 15 rooms/suites keep it initimate and very exclusive. The awarded restaurant is great for fine dining and there is a more laid back bistro by the pool. Truly 5 star esatblishment and allthough pricy great value for money. We will be back. Minimum 3 nights to enjoy everything

Room Tip: We took a deluxe room and they are located in the main building with great views. We found this an a...

We loved this Tuscan retreat. We picked up a little black fiat 500 convertible at Florence airport and headed to the hills. We found it very easily, although pleased we arrived in daylight. We stayed in the Unicorno Suite which was expensive but beautiful. It was set way from the main house in the lovely grounds and we had our own private garden with a variety of seating areas. We live very busy ives and we like to have our own space to escape to so this was perfect. The staff were lovely - I'm very late in writing this review as we went in September last year, but I still remember Vivienne - she was brilliant advising us on our wines and had a lovely personality. We visited Sienna and San Gimignano - both worth a visit and we drove around exploring a bit but we always looked forward to coming back to BSP. We stayed for seven nights and tried to stay longer, but they were fully booked so as scheduled we headed back to Florence for 3 nights before heading back to London. Florence is a beautiful city and well worth a visit /stay. As for BSP we're not ones who return to the same place often but we would go back !

Manicured grounds.
Exquisite suites.
Friendly staff.
Peaceful setting.
Extremely clean.
Excellent restaurant (may want to consider changing the side dishes every night to provide variety to their patrons).
Lovely hotel, but not necessarily a true "Tuscan" experience. This is definitely a 5 star resort, but it could be anywhere in Europe.
