Capivating Tuscan views, stunning old castle, great service from Cornelia and staff, lovely pool, good wines and a great restaurant on site. This was my second visit here but first time staying. Relaxing and a good base to explore the wine region from.Loved the honour system for drinks by pool.

Room Tip: Try for ground floor on pool side of building.

We stayed here in October 2013 and had the best time. The grounds are gorgeous, the people are friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxing. If we ever went back to Italy, we would plan to spend the most time here.

My husband and I first visited Castello di Gabbiano last summer, and we decided that we wanted to celebrate our wedding at the castle. So we did September 2013 - we are very satisfied!

The castle has the special charm and location that we think is typical Tuscan, surrounded by hills + wine yards all over. The hotel itself has modern standard in a classical style, with beautiful rooms and common areas. The pool area is relaxing and in proper condition(!), also an honesty bar with reasonable prices :o) Gardens well mentained. Friendly staff and lovely food/wines at the restaurant Il Cavaliere (...and breakfast is actually very good to be Italian)!

We had planned our special day/weekend for 12 months, and the hotel Manager Cornelia was always service minded and supportive. She adviced us with all our challenges, no need for a wedding planner! As an example she had suggestions for musicians, hair dressers, actors, florists etc. - they were all first class. Thank you for all your help Cornelia!!! Appreciated.

We celebrated our wedding with friends/family with a fully booked hotel and apartements for our exclusive use. All our guests really enjoyed the castle, and were stunned by the location.

Castello di Gabbiano is perfect for couples who wants a quiet and relaxing holiday, at a hotel with great service, clean rooms, lovely views, charming surroundings and wonderful castle!

We will definately return :o)

- If you consider to rent one of the five apartements, be aware that there is no air condition.

Room Tip: Ask the hotel Manager Cornelia, she will advice you! Personally, we specially liked Magnolia, Dal...

Our stay at Castello di Gabbiano was stop 3 on our 14 day Tour of Italy. My boyfriend and I (who became my fiancé on our trip) loved the Tuscanny area. Just beautiful driving through the countryside and we truly had to pinch ourselves at times, to remind us that we were in Italy, sleeping in a 12th century castle.

As for the castle, it was a large room with an incredible view! Not sure we could call this a suite but it was surely larger than anything I had ever stayed in before. Huge bathroom/shower and very clean. No internet in the room, only in the common area, so very, very quiet in the evening. At times we were alone in the castle in the evenings (or so we thought). Kinda cool, kinda creepy!

As for the staff... As others have said, I am disappointed to agree, that Cornelia wasn't the warm and welcoming host you would expect. She made you feel that your stay was an imposition on her. Now with that said, I feel that mostly was her natural disposition/culture as she wasn't Italian. As for me being from the southeast United Stated that was not what I am accustomed too.

However, the ladies that worked for her were exceptional! Always smiling and offering to take care of whatever we needed. Very caring!

Our Italy maps GPS could not find this place, which makes no sense at all. It is a large venue with many directional signs. My advice is to print directions from home just in case. I used my memory from when I booked and had traced it out 2 months ago on the laptop, to get some bearings of what the landscape was like.... Thank goodness this was the one time of " I never forget stuff" came in handy.

My advice for you..... Just love, enjoy, breathe in and appreciate all around you when in Tuscanny and the other negatives will fall to the side.

Just returned from daughters wedding at the castello, shared with friends and family. We all stayed in the castle and apartments and had exclusive use for three nights. The accommodation was loved by everyone and the pool and weather and nearby villages provided plenty of entertainment. The food was delicious as was the castle own wine. There is a kitchen garden which provides fresh produce for the talented chef. Cornelia, our contact at the castle provided instant solutions to any queries we had and the staff quietly got on with daily cleaning of the rooms and were never obtrusive. The scenery around the castle is stunning and we have some wonderful pictures. Getting there was solved by hi.ring a driver with small minibus from Pisa and we even had time for a stopover in Pisa on the last day before going to the airport for the flight home.

I still cannot believe we actually stayed in a one thousand year old castle and our room had a turret in the corner! Great restaurant and wines, make sure you take a tour of the cellars under the castle. The pool was an oasis.

We stayed there only for one night but it was magnificent ... We were the only guest in the castle and we had great time. The rooms are big and very nice. Nice pool with view ...
They have good wines and we taste a few.
The restaurant is close and the food was very good.
