During our two-week stay in Italy, we enjoyed some really good restaurants. But our experience at Cinque di Vino was outstanding. We didn't have a reservation. It wasn't a problem on a Wednesday night in early April. But I got the sense that having a reservation would be advised. We were greeted by the chef/proprietor and shown to a table in the center of the dining room. Marco is kind of like a force of nature - resistance is futile. He is wildly enthusiastic about food and eager to please.
We started with a plate with a variety of starters to get a sampling of Marco's food artistry. Then a couple of entrees and a bottle of chianti. No dessert, but Marco treated us with a shot of lemoncello.
As we were leaving, Marco told us that it was the final night of his winter menu and his spring menu would start the next day - totally different. Well, what can I say? We returned the next night, and our last dinner in Italy was fabulous.
