“The Italian dining experience we'd been seeking”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

During our two-week stay in Italy, we enjoyed some really good restaurants. But our experience at Cinque di Vino was outstanding. We didn't have a reservation. It wasn't a problem on a Wednesday night in early April. But I got the sense that having a reservation would be advised. We were greeted by the chef/proprietor and shown to a table in the center of the dining room. Marco is kind of like a force of nature - resistance is futile. He is wildly enthusiastic about food and eager to please.

We started with a plate with a variety of starters to get a sampling of Marco's food artistry. Then a couple of entrees and a bottle of chianti. No dessert, but Marco treated us with a shot of lemoncello.

As we were leaving, Marco told us that it was the final night of his winter menu and his spring menu would start the next day - totally different. Well, what can I say? We returned the next night, and our last dinner in Italy was fabulous.

“We were not so sure about it”
Reviewed 8 May 2014 via mobile

Yes, we were in a 5-star hotel in the region and we stayed there for almost a week having dinner with and amazing view of Tuscany. And then... We finally find Marco, the great owner of Cinque, who explained us his confused menu almost 5 times and we not only came here one night but reserved for one more. It's a great restaurant, with no view but amazing food with incredible honesty prices and lot of sympathy. Highly recommend!

“Double surprise”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

For a restaurant in the middle of not much of a small town it was surprisingly creative and at the same time surprisingly expensive. Colourful cheff Marco is very helpful with choosing the dishes and attentive or special needs (no garlic, lactose free) but the conto for two -111 euros - was the kind of desert you don't expect. To be fair you can end up with a smaller check but the chef was very persuasive in the decision making process. recommended with asrtrix.

Thanks a lot for yr review, even if i'm sorry that you call the price.."surprise". If I rememebr well you taken the Florentine Steack that it 's the dish more expensive that we have in our menù and its price is indicated in pound and in kg regularly in our menu.
I can guarantee you that our price is a very competitive market price..probably is one of the best considering quality and price.- then I want to inform you that the margin profit on this dish is lower than other dishes therefore I've been persuasive only and exclusively considering yr necessity infact disches with garlic and lattosio FREE are not so much,
I apologies in aniway for the misundertanding and I send you my best regards Marco

“Friendly restaurant with amazing food and service”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

This small familly restaurant runed by Mario and Silvia are perfect place to eat in San Casciano in Val di Pesa. We tried to have lunch there, but as common in Italy, it is not possible on 15:00 :)
So we booked last table for dinner there, an come back at 19:00 when they open. Mario surprisingly remembered me by name and as only guests, who wanted to eat so early, we felt like VIP :)

Perfect food, perfect service and very friendly cosy atmosphere. Make a reservation and enjoy friendly dinner there!

“An unexpected discovery of quiet excellence.”
Reviewed 8 April 2014

Booked this place on a sunday morning as others where already full. Got to San Casciano very quìickly from Florence (less than 20 mins from San Miniato by car), parked the car in the little central square with a beautifu view on the hills, where the restaurant is located too.
Once we got to the restarurant, the place was simple and tidy, the staff courteous and nice. But the real surprise came with the chef Marco who carefully explained to all of us (we were six) the local appetizers round (all made with local products) and then moved on to describe the courses we wanted to know more about. Has been a while since I have seen that SPARK in the eyes of a chef, and that means PASSION, and PASSION means QUALITY+TASTE. And that's exactly what we had (at a more than reasonable price).

All in all: Hope to have the chance to get there again. Thanks chef Marco!
