We loved the Villa. The picturesque view, the hospitality and the food, all was just wonderful. It was like living in your own Villa with service! I would go back in a heart beat!
Luca and Monica and all the staff was just wonderful! The only place we got help with our luggage on arrival. Leo's dinner's are a must at least once.

We stayed in the La Fonte dependence apartment and found it to be a home away from home. It was comfortable and had lots of space for three of us. The views of the Tuscan hills beyond were enjoyed from our bed! Situated in an olive grove we felt very private but still close enough to walk to the villa. The villa itself was lovely too and although we didn't utilize it much, the grounds and pool were very nice. The staff was so helpful to us as we needed driving directions almost daily, they supplied maps and helpful tips about what to see and do. There are good signs to follow to drive to the villa and the restaurant recommendations in San Casciano were great. Don't miss Vino di Cinque, a really wonderful meal that we duplicated a second night.

There is a bit of traffic noise on certain sides of the building when windows are open overnight and a couple of dogs barking but overall not a problem. Wireless internet worked well and kitchen facility was great. Nice bathrooms and linens and daily cleaning service was helpful.

My family and I stayed at teh villa in June 09, and I have to say we were treated so well it was difficult not to believe that we were guests rather than owners!
Everyone was great and on arrival made my daughters (11,9) feel very much at home, showing them around the villa and most importantly to the pool whilst my wife and I kicked back and took in the views over a glass of wine.
The family room was a perfect size and tastefully decorated. For a short family holiday or to use as a base to go exploring from I would definately recomend Villa il Poggiale.

This was our honeymoon trip through Italy with a side stop from Florence to Tuscany and the Villa Poggiale. What a beautiful place. We traveled by bus from Florence for Eur2.50 each which was far cheeper than a car service and really no problem even with several bags. A special thank you to Luca for picking us up at the bus station and showing us around the Villa. We made a side trip to Sienna by bus also and this was quite a nice day trip about 1 hour from the Villa. Our standard room was large, beautifully furnished and had a nice view of the olive groves in the back. Pool was large and lovely. Dinners by Chef Leo should not be missed.. a buffet each evening with wonderful foods and desserts. Staff was friendly and accomodating...we highly recommend you try this one it is a real find.

I attended a family wedding at the villa in July 2009. The setting, the staff and attention to detail could not have made the experience any better. The villa offers excellent accomodation, delicious local food and a delightful personal touch to everyone it does. There was a fair amount of pressure surrounding the event due to people flying in from all over the world and the obvious desire of the wedding couple that everyone should be happy. Poggiale not only delivered, it exceeded everyone's high expectations.

This is a perfect place for all tuscany lovers and future tuscany lovers. Wonderful view. Great and spacious rooms. Living rooms with antique furniture. Top service. Very good breakfast buffet (for italian standard) - including homemade cakes and fresh fruit. We also had the opportunity to eat breakfast in the lovely park of the villa. And not to miss: the delicious buffet dinner with presentation by the enthusiastic chef himself. Great wines from chianti with reasonable prices (super tuscans plus also a selection from great wineries nearby). We would definitely recommend a stay in this hotel. Be aware, that a car is required in this region.

Our August 27th wedding was held at the Villa il Poggiale, and we could not have chosen a more perfect place. It was truly unforgettable. Each of our guests left the Villa feeling as if they had shared in something very special. We had perfect warm weather, dreamy sunsets, excellent food, superb wines, and special treatment by a wonderful staff. It was the perfect setting.
Il Poggiale is an historic residence, and though it is now run by a hotelier group it still retains much of the charm of a private stately residence with just the right touch of class and charm mixed with a relaxed (not stuffy) feeling. There is nothing of a cookie cutter hotel about the Villa il Poggiale. If you want a relaxing holiday without a stifling staff or snobby guests then this is the place to be. Very Tuscan and very much the character of what Italy had an abundance of 20 years ago. It is nearly gone but Il Poggiale still retains that type of charm and detail. The olive groves, lavender, terraces, perfect swimming pool, and proximity to the town of San Casciano and the Chianti, are just the icing on the cake.
We chose two days of exclusive use for our wedding guests, and the result was that we had the feeling that the villa was our private "home" during the wedding events. The staff is quite present during the day but are off-site at night and leave guests keys to the private gate at the edge of the property. This worked well for my friends and family who quite enjoyed the privacy and the olive groves. As the bride I had the luxury of seeing most of the rooms in the villa. All of the rooms have beautiful furnishings, silks, marble bathrooms, and hand woven throw rugs. Many have traditional brick floors and 18th century fresco decoration. The Superior rooms and Suites are stunning and have either views looking over the Tuscan countryside or small terraces off the inner courtyard. The Standard rooms are much smaller and just as charming but were unfortunately located on the lower floors without views of the property. Some of the smaller Standard rooms are definitely better than others. (If you have the opportunity of staying in a Suite it is absolutely worth every penny!) The real gem was Room 10, the "honeymoon" suite, with luxury furnishings, a private terrace, and a sitting room. My family chose to spend additional days at the Villa prior to the wedding, and stayed in a mini-apartment on the uppermost floor with a very useful kitchen.
I cannot say enough for the wonderful Monica and her staff, the chef Leo who prepared some very delicious meals and a superb wedding banquet, the charming waiter Marcello, and Hana and her lovely sister who made breakfast a pleasure. We used the wedding planning skills of Wedding with a View and Platinum Travel, who work exclusively with the Villa il Poggiale.
I feel very lucky to have had such a memorable experience at this beautiful place. We really look forward to many anniversaries at the Villa il Poggiale!
