A foodies dream holiday!
Have just returned from an amazing 5 night holiday at the Villa Campestri Olive Oil hotel, the home of L'Olivaia restaurant - the food and the atmosphere really made our holiday.
After choosing to eat at L'Olivaia on the first evening of our holiday, sitting out on the terrace as the sun went down across the valley, we were blown away by the fantastic flavours and uncomplicated ingredients which worked so well for their elegant simplicity.
We have a whole new appreciation for 'real' olive oil - ask to try Villa Campestri's own olive oil with the bread they serve at the start of the meal - it's so full of flavour, unlike that which we use to cook with in the UK. You'll pick out the unique flavour notes in the chef's cooking - it's amazing!
We were so impressed with our first evening at the restaurant we chose to eat there 3 nights out of the possible 4 - so many great things on the menu we wanted to try and we were not disappointed by any of them.
Stunning dishes worth mentioning:
The olive encrusted fillet steak - the best steak I've ever had!
Martelli Spaghetti for it's simplicity
Garganelli pasta with porcini mushrooms
Ravioli filled with potatoes & rosemary
Ah the list goes on....!
On our last night we weren't particularly hungry, but still ended up having a three course meal anyway!
Service was great throughout our stay, with our hosts ensuring we had everything we could possibly need and more. The waiters & hotel staff were all great at English, (embarrassingly, we were not very good at Italian!)
