We ate here on a slow Sunday afternoon for lunch at the recommendation of Lucia from our wonderful B & B Villa Monteleone. The father and daughter took excellent care of us despite our lack of Italian language skills. The food was marvelous. The wines were of course, superb. We ate rabbit pasta and duck. the tiramisu dessert was the best I've ever had. everything was very fresh, wonderfully prepared, and I thought the environment was charming and welcoming, especially given the rain storm outside. Lucia said that they offer to pick up guests at her B & B so they can enjoy the wine.

Ate here on our first night in Valpolicella on the recommendation of our host at Villa San Giorgio, Gabriele. It was my birthday, and we wanted a special dinner.
It was perfect. The owner/sommelier Adelino Molinarole whose kind eyes and generous smile made us feel right at home. He pampered us from start to finish, even picking us up at our B & B so we could enjoy our vino without worrying about driving back. As soon as we were seated he broke open the Proseco and a toast to my birthday followed. For our appetized/first my husband had beef carpaccio that was excellent and i had their rocket/basil pesto with spaghetti.. Very, very good! Next, my husband had the braised beef with polenta - this was so good, i had to steal more than a bite, My main was steak and it was very good, but the braised beef was the winner. We had a bottle of excellent Amarone with it. We were really full by this point, but Adelino brought us out a sampling of cheeses that paired really well with the Amarone. We refused desert, but of course he ignored us and brought out a few cookies/biscuits. Our waitress was equally sweet, and the chef (his son) came out to greet us at the end of our meal. This experience made me want to abandon my passport and be adopted into the family!!! I will work for food!

A real pleasure - the place isn't very pretty, but the family which runs it makes up for it.

We started with prosciutto crudo and fresh mushrooms (Adelino, the father, added some drops of very good and old aceto balsamico) and pasta with rocket pesto and mountain cheese - simple and excellent.

Then we had counterfillet on leeks with Amarone reduction and braised beef with Amarone and polenta and two fresh salads - really excellent.

Accompanied by an 2002 Amarone this was really a treat.

For dessert we had a local cake together with a glass of ripasso - a sweet and strong red wine.

And then Adelino came with a bottle of Grappa and told us to help outselves to it - on the house, of course!

Last but not least we bought some bottles of the excellent olive oil for a very reasonable price and left with a big smile on our faces...

Four of us went on a slow Monday or Tuesday night. The owner/father greeted us and warmed up to us quickly. The son and Chef visited our table a couple of times as his English was better than Dad's. We shared everything and walked away feeling like we had the best gem and kept secret in Italy. Everything was fresh and the food was superb with complex flavors but simple style. A home run when you consider the wine selections and suggestions and the total price being much less than what it was worth! You won't go wrong going here.
