“A tasty stop”
Reviewed 22 July 2014 via mobile

Right on the N125 just outside Boliqueime ( don't bother trying to find it on the TA mobile app) we had stopped here a few years ago after picking up friends from the airport in the evening. This time we were economising by avoiding the A22 tolls, coming back to Lagos from Faro by the old route. There are a lot of restaurants, cafés and snack bars along the 125, and this is smarter than average, and you can park on either side of the road, but there is a setback car park on the same (south) side as the restaurant. In the car park there was a fleet of small white vans branded with the restaurant's name, so it is apparent that they roast and supply a lot of suckling pigs to other restaurants.
Therefore they should have the best and most succulent at their own restaurant. There is a leitão sandwich at €4.50 and a lunchtime 'Prato economico' at €6.50, but we decided to share one portion of pig, which was not the cheapest at €21, but proved more than adequate for two, and was served with juicy orange segments, and sliced crisped potatoes which were hot and crunchy. I am aware that leitão can vary in quality and freshness, but on this occasion we had 8 large chunks of soft flavoursome meat with light crisp crackling of about 80% of the skin.
As usual, be cautious of which of the couvert items you accept, as certain things like meat and cheese can be pricy. We only had some bread, but the others looked good. With drinks, cover and one coffee our bill came to €27.50, which was good value as we hadn't had room for dessert. By 1:30 the restaurant was 2/3 full, mostly with Portuguese, who were probably visitors from further north.
The decor is smart and traditional with a high ceiling and interesting stuff, much pig-related, on the walls. The waiters were polite and attentive, and it was a very enjoyable air-conditioned lunch on a very hot day.

“Mediocre ”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

We wanted to try this place based on the recommendation from a local we had met. The setting is casual, so no need to dress up. We wanted to try the suckling pug which was pretty good. The only issue is the food all came out warm, not hot. The service was also a tad slow.

“good traditional food”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

With a couple of friends we try the house speciality "'sucking pig" and it was tasty with crispy skin and soft meat. The peeper sauce works well but combined with horse radish it will be grate.
The restaurant is very nice , old style decoration and personal very helpful.
The only thing that make me feel robed was because of the snacks that they put it on the table before meal ( its a problem wit all restaurants in Portugal), they don't say the prices and at the end when they came with bill cost at lest 20% of the meal. But this is Portugal with good and bad .
Recomand the restaurant for food but in ALL restaurants in Portugal ask for prices at snaks before you eat.

“You have to want suckling pig”
Reviewed 1 June 2014 via mobile

We must have driven past this resto 50 times saying we should try it, but we never really saw many cars. I enjoyed the suckling pig. The meat has to be the most tender I have eaten, and I also enjoy fatty skin. After that, however, there is not much notable to say. Friendly waiters, but did not meet the owner, unlike in other "local" rstaurants. Plates piping hot, but the food was tepid/cold?? Probably not one ob the "must go back" list...
