Entering in this faboulous property the first moments, all the stress falls off from you.
It is the 2nd time that we visit, not for holiday as we live in the region but for their summer barbecue held every friday..
The garden is a real paradise and the the view on the Ocean is stunning. The "rustique" bungalows spreaded over an area of 11 ha are in harmony with nature.
Before enterring the Grill restaurant it is irresistible to make a walk around the swan lake and enjoy harmony and serene athmosfere.
The staff is very sympatic and helpfull. Paulo parks your car and when you leave, brings him back. Service at table could not be better.
Rita Vilela, responsible food and beverages works very hard and makes sure that all is o.k.
Vilalara is owner of several awards and they deserve it.
Looking forward for thematic activities in wintertime and stay overnight.

We have stayed at the Sheraton Pines in the past and in my view, this hotel is better. It is much smaller and personal and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. It is about 40km from Faro airport, we, as usual, hired a car, and it is not an arduous journey – even avoiding the motorways (it is a ridiculous price to use the motorways in Portugal).

We had a garden suite, which was large and probably had the best wardrobe space I have ever encountered in any hotel. My only criticisms would be that the room felt “tired” – it was bland, no pictures or colour and the bathroom was a bit tired looking.

Food was excellent – we regularly lunch around the pool, a varied menu with something for everyone. We also had dinner in the restaurant a couple of times, which was to a very high standard. I was surprised to read on some reviews that they thought the prices were high – (where have they been staying!) - we thought they were extremely reasonable for both food and drinks; indeed, I would go as far to say it was the lowest priced hotel I’ve stayed in for a long, long time! There are some great restaurants, some not far from the hotel and others a short taxi/drive away - now they really are reasonably priced for excellent food and drink!

I loved the location, it is quiet and quite picturesque in places. There are some lovely towns and villages to visit, and for the golf lovers, a course round every corner!

The only reason I haven’t rated the hotel as excellent is the room was a bit tired and I thought housekeeping was a bit lax at times. However, it was thoroughly peaceful in a beautiful setting and that is why I will be going back.

Room Tip: The rooms are spread out in places it is quite "steep" and if you have any mobility issues...

Beautiful location, stunning views. spacious rooms and lots of green open space. Staff are very friendly and only too happy with anything. Food and drink around the resort is expensive but that seems pretty standard in a place like this. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Highly recommended. Beautifully located, friendly staff. It was rather calm when we were there, we liked the spacious rooms and were glad we had chosen the garden view suite as it was much closer than those overlooking the pool.

I would have preferred a large sweet water pool, possibly even heated, at 20 degrees the water was a bit on the fresh side at first. The sea was cold at 17degrees but the beach and pool areas are lovely and relaxing, though a beach club type of set up with a bit of lounge music for the younger guests might be a good addition. There is a good mix of guests though the resort is on the quite side.

Meals are expensive but the food was very good, though we only had one dinner at the hotel. We had not tried the spa but a well equipped gym looked inviting enough.

Free parking, conveniently located. Only downside I could think of, when we asked for a bucket of ice, they charged us 10 Euros. We ended up buying a bag every night from the Supermarket up the road for 1.70 EUR instead. Ice should not come at such a premium IMO.

Room Tip: It's a large resort and you end up walking quite a bit. If you take a pool room make sure you kn...

Stayed for 5 nights and apart from the wonderful ocean view from the terrace everything else was mediocre at best: from the poor breakfast selection, to many parts of the complex in urgent need of refurbishing and last but not least SCANDALOUS prices for mini-portions of abysmal quality cuisine served by the pool while being told by the totally unprofessional waiters that no matter what quality/brand of the glass of wine you have the price is the same! Unbelievable rip-off and when confronted with the bill where they overcharged us with 4 glasses of a more expensive wine - when we actually only had only one of those and 3 of a cheaper version - the waiter admitted that we are right however insisted the price remained the same....When confronted with such a shameless attitude from the very first hour in the complex you know that things are not quite right...to say the least - so make sure you have a car so you can go out and find a decent place to eat, for example Belmondo nearby.

We have been coming to Vilalara for years and simply cannot do without our annual "fix" of delicious food (including the "healthy-diet" restaurant options which are often tastier than the normal food on offer).

The beach is amazing although unfortunately they have had to reduce the area reserved for guest sunbeds owing to local bureaucratic interference.

The whole resort oozes with charm and you can wander through the beautifully kept gardens to the Spa area which is superbly professional and a treat for anybody with high expectations.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are miles away from the sea in a building which could do with some freshening up - we...

I have stayed in several 5-star hotels in Portugal and this one makes the top 3. Why? Location, friendly yet professional service and breakfast. Everything else is at par at what you would expect from any 5-star hotel: very comfortable rooms with great beds; nice spa with a heated indoor saltwater pool; good facilitiies for sporty guests (tennis courts, gym).

Only drawback is that there's not that much fun in the immediate vicinity...but that may be an advantage if you want to stay within the resort at all times. Otherwise you need to have a car, particularly if you are bringing your golf clubs.

But all in all I want to compliment the staff at the hotel for making our stay very enjoyable. I am sure we will come back when it's a bit warmer.
