“Good value for money Hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2013

We arrived at the Terrace club in the small hours of the morning only to find the front desk closed but with an envelope with are keys and directions to are apartment, we ask for a pool facing pool one but ended up with a dingy basement one with no tea/coffee making stuff, a old telly which didn't work and no air conditioning not impressed!
We went to the front desk first thing and asked to be moved, which they were happy do so and ended up with 4 floor sea view apartment which was light years better and felt a lot happier.
Had a flat screen TV although still a lack of channels to chose from and only one English, Coffee machine which you can also use to boil water for tea, no oven though just a hub and microwave.
The hotel is just a short walk from a few lovely beachs although bit of a up hill slog back to the hotel! also a short walk, up hill again to a few Restaurants, for more chose however you need to take a taxi ride (approx.5 euros) down to the main town Armacao de Pera where you will find lots of nice Restaurants including some excellent deals (look out for tourist menu 12 euros for 3 course including beer or soft drink and tea or coffee!) also find nice British pub Water dog with footie good bar food.
Lots of nice long sandy beachs here to, oh and we can highly recommend the Restaurant next to the Water dog (can't remember its name) which does lovely big ice cream deserts and cocktails indeed!
If you don't just want to stay on the beach you can book trips to a number of places including day trips to Lisbon and even Gibraltar, we did both but be warned they are both long old pokes, Lisbon 640am, later is 6 hours 540am and both back at about 10:30 pm and you get 5 hours in Gib well worth it though just to see the monkeys!
we had Breakfast included in are deal have to say it was a very basic and got quite boring by the end, as it never changed!
To sum up, if you want a quite value for money hotel Then Terrace would be fine, although make sure you book a sea view apartment!
The hotel it's self needs to modernize some of its apartment and have standard equipment in all of them!
if you want a bit more action you might want to think about some where like Albufeira.

Room Tip: Ask for apartment with sea view

The complex is very nice staff all very polite & helpful .The only downside for us was it is very remote anywhere you want to go entails very steep climbs we would return but would hire a car next time.

Stayed as a couple on our 1st holiday together in last few days of August and 1st few in September.
Arrived at 6PM so room was already waiting for us and it was very big, clean and tidy. Usual kitchenette, dining room and living area (all of which we weren't planning on using anyway), 2 balconies and 2 single beds with ceiling fans in bedroom and living room.
Went B&B (continental breakfast) limited choice but you get what you pay for. Pool area was busy with music playing constantly from opening at 9:30 so if you want a bed get there early and get one on the side of the pool bar to get the most sun during the day, we only spent one day there as we wanted to take in the whole area and surroundings and a couple of evenings before going out for dinner.
Some very nice restaurants close to the hotel New Delhi, Vila de Italia, Vilarinho and Lords Bar/Restaurant Aquamar which was our favourite for the free wi-fi and very nice food all were within 5-10 minutes walk. Vilarinho is right on the beach front which does get busy in the day but there is a walkway through the cliff to a quieter more cosy beach to relax etc. however the walkway does get a bit small so you have to duck as you are walking I'm 5ft6 so only had to really lower my head! and there is a step down onto the beach at the other end of about 1metre.
Very quiet around the hotel so if you want a bit more life go to Armacao de Pera for a wider range of restaurants and a lot of bars which is about 5euro in taxi fare which reception will book for you and coming back there is a taxi rank where you get dropped off which saves you 80cents too on telephone booking and depending on which receptionist you have will charge you 50cents to do so. There is also a very nice coastal path to walk along down past the Vilalara golf resort which if you follow will take you straight to the beach at Armacao de Pera however the path is sometimes close to the edge of the cliffs and is sometimes quite narrow in parts so maybe take precautions if needed. There was also a market that randomly kicked off at about 10PM after we'd eaten dinner.
You can also get the bus (ask at reception) to Albufeira for about 4euro which takes around half an hour to get to Albufeira bus station but I would recommend getting a taxi into the town (3.5euro) as it is about a 20 minute walk between the two. also make sure you buy tickets before you get on the bus back from the station as we could not buy them on the bus so I had to run in to buy ours before it left, this bus goes between Portimao and Albufeira but I wouldn't bother going the other way as it seemed like a town for the locals.
There was a sand sculpture festival on called Fiesa which has a different theme every year, this year was music, it was quite impressive but wasn't really worth the 9euro entry fee plus the 12euro taxi fare one way.
All in all I would recommend the whole place as there is lots to do within reasonable distances with the hotel being in a quiet location, I think its an ideal place to stay for any be good for any couples, groups or families.

Room Tip: Room 644, Sea View and Pool Side (top floor) and 2 blocks away from reception, book early.

We stayed for 10 days from 22nd September. From our arrival we were treated very well. Staff are friendly, helpful and courteous. We were in Block 5 and the apartment was excellent size (we had a 1 bed apt) and it was well stocked with fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle, hob, cutlery and crockery. The standard of cleaning throughout is fantastic and can't fault it in any way! The location is slightly out of the main town of Armacao De Pera, however isn't a tasking walk and is reached within a half hour or is only 5euro in a taxi. Buses also run regularly. The main beach at Armacao De Pera is absolutely beautiful, as is the wee cove beach just 5 mins walk from Terrace Club - although it's worth noting that it's a steep walk uphill when returning home! The supermarket is only about 10-15 mins away and great value. Activities are mainly outwith Terrace Club area, and require car / taxi / walk. Reception have a wide range of leaflets/brochures and the reception staff are happy to help you book things or arrange buses. I can recommend the cliff and cave cruises and parasailing (all from Albufeira) The Terrace Club is perfect for a nice relaxing getaway, the surrounding area is stunning. I echo other reviews when they say it's very quiet - but if you're willing to go and explore then there is a lot on offer, just not on your doorstep that's all! Well worth a visit, we weren't disappointed at all.

Room Tip: We were in Block 5, these apts seem to be the most modern and best stocked.

We stayed here 26th September for a week. On arrival we were told that our room would be ready in 2 hours time, at 1:30pm we were chuffed with this as we expected to wait until 3pm. The receptionist was very friendly and pointed us in the direction of the snack bar and bakery. We went straight to the beach. There is 3 within a few minutes walk away, we opted for The one furthest away as it had nobody else on, yes there was about 100 steps down to it and then you have to climb over some rocks to get on the beach but it is so worth it to sit by the sea within nobody else around. Stunning.

We got back to reception at 1:30pm and we're informed that the mini bus will pick us up to take us to our room! Turned out we were a five minute walk from the restaurant and pool (main complex). It was a relief that we didn't have drag our baggage to the room. There isn't a lift but luckily we were only on the second floor. The apartments are huge, locals do live in some of them. We had a large living area with kitchette, however there was no toaster or kettle, we didn't care and never asked for one, we did find there was no phone but they sent one to us when we asked. The kitchen area came with cutlery, pots pans ect. We had two single beds which were comfy and two balconies. Over all the apartments are very good.

We went Half board, but after reading the reviews on the food we did take extra spending money with us for eating out. Breakfast was fine, fresh rolls and croissants with cheese, Ham and other meats, boiled eggs, yogurts, ceral and a section of jams, honey ect. There's fresh juice and a hot drinks machine.
The evening meals: the first night we did enjoy the meal , there was a couple of fish dishes, meat dishes, rice, a potatoe dish and a large salad selection. I only eat fish and was happy with the selection, however if you are a vegetarian, I wouldn't bother eating here at all. The next night again it was fine and we found something to eat. The Third night was not enjoyable and with only one fish option..which didn't look very appealing, I was left with rice and sprouts...I'm not a fussy eater but the food just didn't go together towards the end of the week, and my partner was in agreeable on his meat dishes too. We got a cheap deal and knew about the food before going however then food itself isn't bad they just have very strange combinations and sometimes you've struggle to put a meal together, for example one night there was a curry the next night there was a spag Bol type dish but served with samosas. The food is what is it and we didn't go expecting amazing food from the hotel but I must admit there was bloke who worked there he seemed to run the kitchen (short hair and glasses, we found him quite rude) when guests were sat in his dining area picking at the food he served and then locals/friends come into the dining room and he comes out with plates full of fresh food such as fresh meats, breads and prawns, it is abit miffing as it wouldn't take much to make the standard of food in the hotel better and he obviously has the better food in the kitchen!! There are gorgeous places to eat near by so I would recommend going self catering.

We went for a relaxing beach holiday and sadly we were really unlucky with the weather, only having 2 hot days. We went to town a few times but we were struggling for things to do, not the hotels fault we knew the area where we going but we banked on the weather being better. We went and asked at the Viking, a local hotel and they let us Pay for an amazzzzing massage which then gave us use to their indoor pool that gave us something to do on one of the rainy days.

This is a lovely resort with the right weather and we would go back again for a cheap holiday, but self catering next Time. We found all of the staff (apart from the kitchen bloke) friendly and helpful and the drinks and snack bar were great value although it did seem to close at random times.

We had a great holiday, despite the weather and the hotel and area is very pleasant.

Room Tip: Go Self catering and enjoy the gorgeous places to eat nearby.

Have just returned from a two week holiday at the terrace club . The one bedroom apartment was lovely really large with nice kitchen area and large fridge and very clean there is a T.V but only one English channel sky news which repeats the same story over and over again and as we had rain the second week and stayed in the apartment a bit more it left a lot to be desired OK for the German visitors they had four channels to choose from the super market is about a 15 min walk and the town is about 25 min walk. The town was very very quite and there are tower blocks of apartments everywhere the promenade is the best bit which has lovely palm trees and looks out to the sea. There was no evening entertainment and nothing to do when the weather was bad and to be honest we found two weeks to long to be staying here

Just got back from a one week holiday and it was great. Plenty of walking and finding new places along coastal walks but not great if you're not so fit. Beaches were fantastic and would recommend going to happy chinese restaurant in the town and new delhi curry house near to the terrace both fantastic meals and very good value for money.only gripe ive got is that there was no kettle or toaster and could have done with an oven as you could only cook one pot meals and we were on a budget. However we are planning to go back next year so that says it all ! Can't wait to go back.
