“Brilliant customers and facilities!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

I would definitely recommend this hotel for young couples, girlie holidays and anyone who wants a relaxing holiday! The customer service at the hotel was next to nothing, upgrading our room free of charge because we wanted a sea view room, giving us extra pillows, booking excursions for us and much more. The room was very clean, no complaints with cleanliness. The only slight complaint we had was that during the night we could hearing people in the hallways but it wasn't enough to disturb our sleep. Highly recommended!

We were only here for 3 nights on a property hunt and the agent had arranged the hotel for us. We had a large apartment (320) - 2 bedrooms, a seating area, kitchen diner, bathroom and en suite shower room to the master bedroom. The balcony was spacious. It was overlooked by several other balcony's which didn't bother us but might be a problem to some.
We were booked on B & B basis and enjoyed the breakfasts which had a huge choice of items. They serve breakfast outside by the pool as well as inside the restaurant.
The staff were all very friendly and accommodating of our three year old. The rooms and public areas were spotless.
On our last day, our taxi was taking us to the airport before breakfast commenced so the restaurant staff brought us a tray of continental breakfast the night before for us to enjoy in our room.
All in all an excellent experience and we would definitely return.

We booked the viking hotel in February as a special treat for our silver wedding anniversary in June. We paid for a sea view room in advance, and emailed the hotel on 4 separate occasions before we travelled, but unfortunately on arrival our request was not granted and we were told there would be no sea view rooms available until the next day. The room we were put in had no view and when we used the shower the bathroom floor flooded completely. We were moved the next day to a room on a higher floor, with a side view of the sea which was just about OK. The bedroom was very small. Breakfast is not a nice experience - there are no trays to carry your food on and you have to go back and forwards, a very poor meal indeed, which is one of the reasons we did not have any other meals in the hotel, the other reason is that they are much too expensive. The pool bar is absolutely too expensive, with a toasted sandwich costing 8.50 euros, 4 times as much as the restaurant, which is very good, just a 3 minute walk away? Night life in the hotel is practically non existent. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful, but not at all suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. For anyone who enjoys their food and eating out, we found some of the surrounding restaurants very disappointing indeed. The only 2 I would recommend is the Indian Restaurant, a 5 minute walk from the hotel and the pizza restaurant a further 5 minute walk - these were both excellent. The Blues bar, a 10 minute walk, is not to be missed and is great fun and very welcoming. We will return to this resort, unfortunately NOT to the Pestana Viking hotel - this has been the most disappointing experience we have had and definitely not value for money - Sorry!!!

Room Tip: Do NOT pay for a sea view in advance - wait until you get there and ask to see the room first!

We have now stayed at this hotel three times, and it continues to impress.
Staff, particularly at reception are friendly and helpful at all times. Language barrier can be a bit of a problem with some of the non English speaking staff.
Our choice of room was willingly accommodated after we had emailed the hotel in advance. Unfortunately, the air conditioning in our room simply did not work and the first few days were quite uncomfortably hot. On the second occasion we reported it, the reception staff, without hesitation gave us a free upgrade to a better room on the sixth floor. The beds ARE a bit on the hard side, but reception will happily arrange for a mattress topper. Rooms and public areas are spotlessly clean.
Fast Wi-Fi is available in all areas, including the gardens for €1 a day, some may begrudge paying, but what's one Euro?
Breakfasts are pretty good, but you're better off going out for evening meal, as the hotel's fare is rather expensive.
If I have one comment to make it's that although clean, the rooms are beginning to become just a little bit tired, not a big problem at the moment but another couple of years.....
We'll be back, I'm quite sure.

Room Tip: Room 1 on each floor is next to the lift shaft. Rooms 7-11 have the least amount of people passing b...

Stayed here mid June excellent hotel very clean, perfect room it was on the 6th floor, room 624 it had a view over the pool and garden from a very large balcony and on to the sea.Well appointed kitchenette a separate bedroom with an on suite and a separate toilet off the main room.Previous reviews said the hotel seemed dated but i did not find that myself, outdoor pool was a salt water pool with a nice temperature there are two marvelous beaches one either side of the hotel one accessed by some 50 odd steps but worth it for an unspoilt beech. Indoor pool and spa was good and kept very clean free wi-fi was available all over the hotel. Can not comment on the food as we did not eat here there is a very good Italian restaurant next door and a good supermarket 15 minutes away uphill only ten coming back! a very relaxing holiday as with most of the Algarve along that coast there is not a lot going on, i would recommend this hotel and will return in the future.

Room Tip: try for a high room

My husband and I have stayed in this hotel 8 times. It is in a lovely location with excellent standard of rooms and service. As we have very hectic lives we like to completely relax when we go on holiday and this location allows us to do that. We enjoy the fact that it is a small village with only a few very good restaurants. Breakfast is excellent quality. The evening meal is buffet style and I am sure is very good but we like to go out and eat.
Views are stunning, Pools and leisure facilities are all very clean and well kept and I would recommend it to anyone - in fact, we have taken most of our families with us as we have enjoyed it so much.

Room Tip: High floors are best as you get sea views from every room!
