just returned from this apartment complex.most of the staff were fairly unfriendly except for the two ladies at the pool bar. I was half afraid to ask for something most of the time.Balcony looked on to a building site with jack hammers going at eight in the morning till seven or eight in the evening

We visited this hotel in August 2007. We thought the hotel was good for a base. We had our breakfast and lunch in appartment and had dinner out every night. It is in a great location. I felt the kids club could have been better. The appartment was clean and spacious. I thought they could have put on more entertainment at night. Overall i would recommend these apartments. The location is excellent.

Went with group of friends late September 2006. After reading reviews, I was very anxious that it was going to be awful but we were all very pleased with it. On arrival, we were allocated with 3 two bedroom apartments, rather than the two we ordered/paid for, but we were not about to complain about that-especially the bargain price we paid for the rooms. The apartments were very spacious and clean, kitchenette basic, but we weren't concerned as we ate out most of the time. Sheets and towels changed regularly.
I agree with other reviews that the staff weren't particularly friendly, it depended who was on reception at the time.
The pool area was clean and pleasant (with highly uncomfortable sun loungers-no padding!) I imagine it would be packed at height of season-but as the beach is so beautiful and only about a five minute walk, it wouldn't matter.
I would recommend it to people who wanted clean and spacious accommodation who don't mind that the staff are hardly gushing towards the residents.

Sol Flor da Rocha allocated to us on arrival in Portugal. 3rd time in Praia da Rocha so knew the lay of the land. Were pleased with the size of the apartment, very spacious compared to some we've stayed in. Would have liked an oven or grill in the kitchen, especially as it is self-catering, corridors unbelievably dim, really need to look at this, big artificial plants also on corridors so quite difficult to negotiate. Location of apartments was fine. Other main problems were one of the sliding doors didn't lock, and we had no hot water for two days. Was fixed once and then moved to another apartment, which had hot water but no shower head!Still had key to original apartment so just switched shower heads ourselves. Reception staff not very friendly, when I rang to report no hot water, was told that I had left it a bit late. It was 8.00pm and we had been out all day, not really our fault. Wouldn't stay there again and would definately know where I was staying before I go on my next holiday!

We recently stayed at this hotel and whilst there were some good points in its favour, there were considerably more bad points.
The good point were; it is away from the main hustle and bustle of the resport but only a few minutes walk to the beach and main centre. The appartment was large and airy, although the kitchen facilities were very basic (not even a kettle). The swimming pool. although quite small was clean and regularly checked.

The bad points ; the corridors were dimly lit which was quite intimidating. The peripheral pool area was quite dirty , especially where the lawn areas meet the main pool area, although the toilets and shower facilities at the poolside were clean.
On a couple of days there was also a distinct smell of sewage around the pool area.
The advertised daytime sports programme was non existent and when the children paid their money to play tennis, they were given one tennis ball which was virtually useless.

The staff were reluctant to give out change, especially when children asked for change for the games room and seemed disitinctly child-unfriendly. Our overall impression was that asking the staff to do anything was a bit too much trouble for them.

On more than one occasion the scheduled nightly entertainment was cancelled at the last minute with no explanation and there was a definite shortage of staff, as one night the main bar did not open until very late because the barman (only one) was still working in the poolside bar.

We also had an unfortunate experience of having posessions stolen from our locked appartment. 3 other appartments were also affected. There was no sign of forced entry and when the police arrived at the hotel, they indicated that entry must have been gained using a key. The most annoying thing was that the hotel staff, especially the manager , washed their hands of the whole episode and were more concerned in keeping us away from other guests when the police arrived to take our statements. We were offered no sympathy or help from the hotel, not even a taxi on the house to get us to the police station the following day to make a formal statement.

We did not let this spoil our holiday though, we just spent more time away from the hotel complex.- the resort and beach area are fantastic !!!

Have just reurned from these apartments. Like other reviewers, could not fault the cleanliness of the apartments. Towls changed everyday etc, and it is very well kept. My biggest complaint was the staff. I found them fine towards the adults but not a bit child friendly.. My 7 year old was afraid to ask for an ice cream after our first day.. the staff definetely find children an inconvience.. insisting they have exact change for ice-creams etc.. otherwise they were told to come back when they had the correct change.. they also refused to refund money that had been "eaten" by the machines in the game room. The entertaiment and kids club were virtually non-existant, and the bar was closed by 11.45 each night. The front desk staff were vey helpful, but really would not recommend it to people with children. We stll had a great holiday though, but would not return to these apartments!

The sol flor da rocha is a very basic apartment. However, i couldn't fault the cleanliness, maids came every day for the 2 weeks we were there, clean towels every day. The apartment was a good size, but very bare, not even a kettle in the kitchenette, although we knew this when we booked it. We did have an ironing board though ! the location is good, set back enough from the strip so it was very quiet, but only a ten min walk to the centre. We still had a great time in praia da rocha as we don't hang around the apartments. The pools were ok and the pool cafe served decent food.Probably wouldn't return to these apartments.
