This is a great place to stay, staff are so friendly, rooms are cleaned every two or three days!! It is only a short walk to the main street where all the pubs are, and a 2mins walk to the beach!!! Beautiful views from the Sea View Rooms, only negative thing is the balcony is so small but to be honest it is fine. Pizza place downstairs is good!! Highly recommend to couples and families!! Can't wait to go there again!!!

We stayed in the Jardins Da Rocha for four nights as part of a mini getaway during a trip visiting friends. On arrival the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We had a car and we allocated our own parking space within a private car park. Our room was located on the fourth floor with a seaview (and carview) which was perfect. The room was surprisingly large and immaculate. I was also surprised at the amount of items in the kitchen area -matching cutlery, crockery, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, microwave, washing machine, oven, hob, pots, pans, endless utensils and even tea towels! There are even manuals for the appliances should they be needed. The room was cleaned on a daily basis and the towels changed which was more than what we bargained for. There is also a small retractable washing line on the balcony where you can hang your washing.

Location wise, it was great... the beach really wasn't that far from the apartment at all. It was a short walk away and then down some steps. Going up the steps on the return journey may be a bit of a challenge for older travellers so be warned. The beach itself is gorgeous and the sea was very clean and safe to swim in.

The apartments also had two outdoor pools, one for kids and one for adults. The larger adult pool was very clean and perfect for an end of the day swim. There are plenty of loungers in the surrounding area. As we went in mid september, the pool area wasn't really bustling so we managed to get a good space. The grounds are also well maintained, lush and very clean.

In terms of nightlife, there's a good selection of restaurants, bars and clubs along a strip. We only went to a couple of bars along there for a few late night cocktails but the atmosphere seemed quite good.

As the apartment is self catering, there are a few shops nearby where you can get basics from which is good but at a slightly higher price than the local(ish) supermarkets (Continente or Jumbo). We had a car so we were able to drive to the supermarkets to pick up bits and pieces as we needed them.

All in all it was a really good experience and I would highly recommend it.

Booked this holiday last minute and didn't know what to expect, what can we say but these apartments are fantastic. Great location - 5 minutes from beach, shops and restaurants. Apartments really spacious and clean, regular maid service and friendly reception staff. Large pool, clean (although not many sun loungers to go round when it got busy). Childrens pool great size and not too deep. On the ground floor of the apartments is a Telepizza sit-in/takeaway - really good value for money around 8 euro for medium pizza, 2 small garlic rolls and 2 soft drinks.

We found an excellent restaurant & bar (sadly 2 nights before we came home), otherwise we would have ate in it every night - "Classics Restaurant" - the guy Rollo running the show couldn't have made us feel anymore welcome than he did, he really looked after us well - having a 22 month old daughter and wanting sweetcorn everytime, there was nothing they wouldn't do for us - so cheers Rollo.

Also would recommend going to the Zoo Marine (even if you don't have kids).

I booked this holiday fairly last minute with a group of friends, and to be honest we were just looking for the cheapest deal around close to a beach! We didn't pay alot, and so weren't really expecting much. However, upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised with Jardins da Rocha. The whole hotel is very clean, and the room was immaculate.

There were four of us staying in one apartment. Overall the apartment is very large. There was a bedroom with a double bed and balcony with cupboards etc. The bathroom was also big in size. The only down side was that there was not quite enough hot water to last for 4 people to consecutively shower. However, it was so hot when we stayed that a luke warm shower was often welcomed anyway!

The other 2 beds were in the living area. This was a very large area with another balcony. The kitchen facilities were brilliant - everything you need to cook (if you want to). Even a washing machine. We found this particularly useful as were on a small budget!

The only negative with having 4 people in the apartment was that the 2 beds were in the living area so as such you had no couch. Not a problem for us as we were out and about most of the time. But may pose probs if you have young children that will want to go to sleep early while mum and dad want to have a drink, watch tv etc.

The staff at the hotel were also really friendly. At reception there are lots of leaflets about excursions to water parks, boat trips etc, and the staff are always happy to tell you about them. They even phone to book them for you, also call you taxis if needed. The cleaners are also really friendly and really looked after the rooms. Didn't come on a Thursday or Saturday but every other day they swept, made beds, changed towels etc.

The hotel pool is also quite large and very clean. Lots of sun loungers around and also plenty of grass to lay out on. Also a small kids pool and play ground.

We all really enjoyed our stay in Praia da Rocha - there is plenty to do if you want to keep busy. If you just want to chill out the beach is lovely. The bonus of Jardins da Rocha is that it leads to an access point on the beach behind some cliffs so is a little hidden. This means its not as busy as the main beach further along. There is a little cave cut through under this cliff though so you can easily walk through to the busier beach to reach toilets, snacks, water sports etc. One thing to bear in mind though is that since all the hotels, bars etc are on top of the cliffs, there are quite a few steps to reach the beach. The steps are paved and well maintained and not too steep or crumbling away or anything, but those who are elderly or disabled may find them a problem as it is quite a long climb back up from the beach.

Overall Jardins da Rocha was a really lovely place to stay - both in terms of the hotel itself, and its proximity to the beach and restaurants.

We Have stayed in Praia da rocha last year and stayed for a week at the clube praia da rocha which was ok at best...

This year we stumbled across the Jardins Da Rocha and stayed for 2 weeks. It was awesome..

We were on the 9th Floor with a sea view.. it was high enough for a great view but not to high that it was a chore to get to.

The Apartments were clean and the only problem was on one night when new arrivals came in and at 2 in the morning the girl upstairs insisted on leaving her high heels on whilst unpacking. Weird...

The apartments were clean and fully stocked with a small TV, a double bed and well stocked kitchen (i.e. Utensils not food).

The staff although we didn't have to interact with them often were friendly and polite. we arrived just as XL airways had gone bust and the receptionist asked what our airport was like with all the commotion etc....

We were also staying whilst the P1 powerboats were racing... Fantastic view from the balcony and the noise these boats were amazing. Don't worry they didn't start till 10 am and were a welcome wake up call.

Praia da rocha and Portimao are fantastic places to visit and we both thoroughly enjoyed the visit with some fantastic places to eat my personal favorites are Atlantis and casa da rocha which are absolutely brilliant..

Bad Points
