What a lovely place, clean and well maintained close to the beach with lovely clean pools and an excellent restaurant. The very helpful and pleasant staff were tolerant and understanding of those of us who may be a little different. Thank You

we stayed here 2 years ago and had such a good time we were happy to come again . we stayed at vila rosa from 19th - 29th july 13 with my 2 teenagers . we stayed in a town house with 2 bedrooms, 2 bath rooms, lounge ,dining room, large kitchen [ with oven and big fridge freezer ] and a our own back garden with table and chairs and sun loungers.the place was more than big enough for all of us and was spotlessly clean .
we discovered that for a 15 minute walk there was a massive super market where you could stock up with essentials for a lot less than nearby spas ,and a taxi back was only 4 euros . Opposite the super market was a lidl and a mcdonalds [ which always comes in handy !]
We find the pool excellent with different depths to suit everyone and we never had a problem getting loungers . The pool area was always very clean .
The staff at vila rosa are always very polite and helpful elias and rafael even remembered us from our last stay . My 16 year old son got on well with some portuguise guests and often played football with them, hes still intouch with them now .
Over all the vila rosa is our favorite place to stay, we always come back feeling totally relaxed , and weve met some wonderful people . Theres only one down side to staying at the vila rosa ... . you have to eventually come home :(

We stayed here for 9 nights after visiting a few places on our way down through portugal, as soon as we arrived we knew we had chosen well. We were in a 1 bedroom apartment in block B overlooking the small pool. Building itself is looking a little dated, but inside the furnishings and decor were spotless and good condition - TV is an antique CRT, but this didn't worry us.
Daily cleaning and linen change was very efficient and freindly but at random times of the day, anything from 10am - 7pm, once or twice we asked them not to bother & just leave towels.
All staff were freindly & helpful, no problems whatsoever.
Both pools and pool areas were kept very clean, and water was quite warm, if you think they are cold maybe you need to eat properly. V V V instead of rabbit food!
Bar and snack bar were both well serviced with decent food and drink at good prices.
Plenty of car parking available free of charge.
Entertainment programme was OK but we didn't bother with it, preferred to go to main strip in PDR, about a 10 min. walk away.
Shop in hotel was OK for daily basics, but a huge "Continente" supermarket only a 5 min. drive away if you're self catering as us.
We will definitely stay here again when we next visit PDR.

Room Tip: Block B is close enough to reception and main bar area, but far enough away to be quiet.

The accommodation was 2 bed roomed with AC and was excellent. Only fault was that although it catered for 6 (we were 5), the water for shower went cold after 2 people showered, and we had to wait for an hour for hot water. This wasted our time. The entertainment program was good but should have been on a 2 week cycle not one week. This would ensure that people who stayed for more than a week had a variety to see, not just a repeat of the first week's shows. Also, some shows (clown and the reptile shows) were in Portuguese so we were bored to sit through them. The water in the pools was cold (not even warm). However, overall due to the location (10 mins from beach) and staff friendliness and helpfulness, we would recommend this hotel. Rooms were cleaned daily. The mini supermarket had space but lacked variety of items, and was expensive compared to the nearby SPAR Supermarket located about 8 mins walk towards the beech, and a shop 5 mins walk at the CLUBE PRAIA DE ROCHA Hotel. We self catered throughout (since strict vegetarians) so cannot comment on the bar and food facility. The Hotel could not provide us with a late check out option, but a room for your luggage after the 12pm checkout was available. Excursions were a lot cheaper to book from the travel agents on the beach shopping strip than through the hotel. Facilities and location make it more like 4 star.Would go there again.

Just returned from the Vila Rosa, not a bad place.
Its located about a 10 minute walk from the main strip, so not noisy at night.
We were in block 4, a little dated but very clean and comfortable. some of the smaller blocks look to be either newer or been refurbished? Only minor problem was the air conditioning, it was a portable unit, so we had to leave the balcony door open for the pipe to exhaust, which sort of defeats the object. Not too hot at night, as I said minor problem.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Pool area clean, a paved area and large grassy area with umbrellas, could have done with a few more sunbeds though. The snack bar was reasonably priced with good service.
Gardens tidy and well maintained.
The resort itself looks a little shabby away from the front. On the front are numerous bars and restaurants all vying for trade, so plenty of choices. At night half the strip is pedestrianized.
Good beaches.
It may be worth paying 7 Euros to jump in a taxi up to Alvor, the next resort, a smaller more intimate place, a different experience to Praia da Rocha.
All in all, the Vila Rosa, a good base, with no probs.

We enjoyed 8 nights in Vila Rosa at the end of July. There were 7 of us on a family holiday, we had 2x 1 bedroom apartments and 1x studio apartment. The 1 bedroom apartments were really spacious and very well maintained. The studio apartment was much smaller but still an ideal size for a couple with self catering amenities, plus they are part of the main hotel and many overlook the pool so they include a nice view.

The housekeeping service was excellent, fresh towels/sheets etc available everyday. 2 pool areas also very well kept, although we stayed at the larger pool as we had children and there was a kiddy pool. The smaller pool area also has its own bar so is ideal for adults who do not want to spend their day with children!

The breakfast isn't great, but its a typical continental breakfast and is worth 7 euro per adult (bacon, sausages, eggs, breads, cheese, beans, ham, tea/coffee/juices). The food at the pool bar is also very reasonable, pizzas/toasties/burgers etc.

The hotel is about 10 minute walk from the beach, make sure to get a map of the hotel grounds as the quickest route isn't always from the main entrance (typically it's past the smaller pool and down a set of steps out a side entrance.) Also 5-10 mins from main strip, which is a nice mix of pubs and restaurants. We enjoyed a few nights out as couples in pubs/clubs, good nightlife options. There are also pubs/restaurants that are good for bringing children with shows etc. The hotel has entertainment almost every-night also (July), clowns/parrots/karaoke etc.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, the location is excellent, it has a really nice atmosphere, and very friendly staff.

Stayed here for 12 days arrived at 11am so tired up all night as we arrived there at 6.30am flight and had no sleep the night before. Appartments not ready till after 2pm disopointed with that as we were so tired. We were in block 4 which I was not impressed with. No view only into more apartments. I had booked these appartments neary 10 months in advance and taught I would get better and requested pool view but seeminly it makes no difference and emailed them personally. The apartment was basic spacious and clean. The maids came every day they were so nice. The people that work there are so nice and courteous and very helpful. Two pools we went to the quiet one which suited me but was with three teenagers which they found the appartments too quiet for them. No irish I think were at our pool a lot of english and Portuguese. We were about 10 to15 minute walk to Praia de rosha uphill some people especially older people would find it a bit difficult. Food was adequate at bar did not try restraunt we went self catering, went for tea and toast one morning at breakfast and was charged 7 euro each for just that, I was discusted at that as I was not booked in for b&b and the waitress said she had to charge breakfast rate. The beech is fabelous there but a bit of a trek. The place itself is very well maintained. There seemed to be entertainment for kids there for peek season dix not attend as we had teenagers. Barbeque on a friday night did not attend that eighter. Overall a lovely place but a little too far from the night life. Its only about a 15 minute taxi drive from the lovely senic Alvor, which had a lovely restraunt calked the bouganvilla restraunt steak on a stone fab. Beech lovely a quaint little village. The taxis were cheap, drivers lovely very helpful. Taxis scarce outside aqua shopping center great for shopping spent 6 evenings there added bonus sales on. Balconys forone bedroom apartm3nts are long but narrow, no air conditionin them hired out a fan 2.50 per night worth it. Up grade if posdible
