This is an excellent 3 star hotel, our room was bright, very clean and airy. The only meal we had was breakfast which was ample and set us up for the day. The staff are excellent with nothing too much bother for them. We had a front sea view room with a balcony which was an absolute suntrap and lovely to sit on in the evening with a glass or two of wine before dinner. This was our third visit in a year to this hotel and we will definitely be back.

Please note this is a 3 star hotel and do not have a pool, tea/coffee facilities, and alcohol or room service facilities. Very basic room, bed, and shower and that are it... Although this hotel is very well located and affordable you should expect no extras. The hotel doors get locked after 13:00 so be aware of any late parties. It is very much a senior citizen establishment and caters for group tours. There is a great Italian restaurant downstairs and the food is highly recommended. There is a casino build right in front of this hotel which now has the privilege of the sea view. Be aware that only a view rooms have sea view to the side.

Room Tip: Not all but only a view rooms have sea view.

Second visit to this hotel. It is at the quiet end of the main street and faces the beach. We got a sea- view room on the 4th floor and spent a lot of time sitting on the large balcony enjoying the sunshine. The room was spacious and kept very clean. The room safe is included in the price. Maids cleaned the room every day. All the public areas of the hotel were kept spotless. We booked bed and breakfast via travel republic. The large breakfast kept you going way past lunch time. The hotel was quiet and relaxing- the staff were very friendly and helpful. Not a package- tour hotel so you get a mix of independent bookers from all over europe.
There is no shortage of bars and restaurants a few hundred yards away- but there is no noise at this end of the street.
The very large beach is terrific and kept very clean with the beach tractor out first thing to keep it that way. There is a super boardwalk and several cafes / restaurants at the edge of the beach.
A bonus is the sight of the large cruise liners either going up the river to Portimao or at anchor a few hundred yards out from the hotel....you have a grandstand view from the balcony.
The hotel was super and the sunshine made the holiday. We had a lovely holiday.

Failed to get into Jupiter and booked into Santa Catarina. Very unlucky with room which had no desk (or chair) on which to use Laptop. After complaining, plastic garden table and chair provided. While it did the job, it was totally out of place and there was no space in the room which would have been tight for a single. Avoid Room 205 like the Plague! Shower head would not remain upright and remedied the problem by adapting a plastic bag. Used shampoo/conditioner bottles never removed from shower tray. In defence, the location is excellent but could not rate with the adjacent Hotel Jupiter.

My mum and I booked this holiday 2 days before we flew with Teletext holidays - very good value and after we read previous reviews of this hotel we were anxious that it would meet expectations.

We arrived on a Saturday night. Our first impressions were great - marbelled wall and floor reception, very clean and modern. The receptionist told us that we were being put into a room with a double bed, although I was staying with my mum it didnt initially bother me however when we saw the room we were immediately put off as it was very small for 2 people. The balcony was tiny, only room for 1 person to stand in! We spoke to the receptionist almost immediately explaining that this room wasnt great and we would prefer to move to a twin room as soon as possible. He explained that they were full on this particular Sat night but could move us the following day no problem - and he was true to his word. The following day we moved into a beautiful bright twin bed room. The only down point about both rooms we stayed in was there was a very clinical almost hospital like smell however this showed how well the room was kept clean I suppose. There was room service every day and fresh towels every day also!

We had booked B&B for 7 days. My mum is a vegetarian and there was not a lot of options for her - they offered continental style (ham, cheese, all different kinds of bread/rolls, jams etc, tinned fruit and yoghurt, cereal (3 different kinds - Fitness, Cornflakes and chocolate cereal for kids), hot breakfast consisted of frankfurters, scrambled egg and smoked bacon - this was the only down point of the breakfast in my opinion, no mushrooms or cooked tomatoes and I found that over the week the eggs were being re-used, re-fried etc as they had a strong oil taste on some days. I felt the same about the bacon as it tended to get a bit darker day by day until they made a new batch. However, not a big disappointment, I can be a bit picky with regards to food! Each day they would also have a Daily Special which was nice - they seemed only to make an effort with this at the weekend when it was a bit busier. Fresh Pineapple, little pastries (which were amazing), sweet milk (Portuguese), custard - all lovely!

We knew before we left that there was no pool however were encouraged by the reviews that the beach was brilliant and I can totally vouch for this. It is about 3-5 minute walk to the beach - there are a variety of different routes depending how far you want to walk. If you turn left as you leave the hotel you can walk up to the fort and this is a beautiful stoned garden walk down to the beach. The beach is down a cliff and therefore all steps/routes are steep so may be a bit difficult for the elderly. If you turn right at the hotel then there is a stepped access to the beach which is a bit easier on the legs!

Praia De Rocha beach is absolutely amazing!! It is 1.5km long and a boardwalk runs the length of it allowing for a beautiful jog which I did every morning. It leads to Portimao Marina which has this amazing exclusive beach bar called Aqua Beach - its very expensive but has to be experienced at least one day throughout your holiday!
The beach has a number of restaurants along the boardwalk which are pretty good for lunches and sitting having a drink whilst looking out to the ocean. Fresh fish galore!!

My two favourite restaurants were actually Italian - owned and run by Italians. The first is a place called La Dolce Vita which is situated right next door to the hotel. The night we arrived there was a queue of people waiting to get a table!! The Sangria with Sparkling wine is absolutely amazing, it comes in a jug of fresh berries and is delicious. We tried pizza, pasta and salads here - they dont even serve chips which means they take their food pretty seriously!!! The second restaurant is in the marina, about 10 min walk from hotel. I cant remember the name (Nolo ? something?) but it was the only Italian restaurant at the marina and their pasta is amazing also.

Overall a great holiday! We went to relax, we didnt want to take tours but the surroundings are beautiful and location of this hotel is perfect! If your into the whole 'strip' 'resort' holiday, well it is a 5 min walk from hotel but if you like to try the restaurants were the portuguese eat just turn down many side streets and walk and you will find them!!

Oh and there is a 5 star Casino hotel opposite the Santa Catarina! Would recommend to have a Carribean Sunset cocktail whilst sitting overlooking the beach!! :)

Would recommend highly!! :)
