“Friendly food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2012

In a must see street of local restaurants this is very much worth the visit. Great to see it full of locals on the All Souls holy day and public holiday;the welcoming plates of shrimps and barnacles is a nice start. The owner is welcoming and happy to explain the fish; he's open with the price so no nasty surprises often found in such restaurants. A large John Dory was a great main course for four of us.

Good wine list of sensible choices. Very good experience all round.

“Attention seafood lovers!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2012

Just a quick trip on the #500 bus from the Foz area of Porto to Matoshinos and we found Dom Peixe and all we can say is WOW! Start with masterfully grilled sardines, the most buttery, soft octopus, padron peppers and then grilled seabass. Follow with Creme Caramel (off the grill!), port and roll yourself back to the hotel! Jose (who has been with Valentim/Dom Peixe for 10 years) speaks amazing English, is super friendly and will help you custom-build your dinner order. Fantastic service, the freshest seafood ever and an off-the-beaten track feel (from a tourist point of view) = a spectacular and memorable dinner. Thanks Jose!
