“Great hotel”
Reviewed 16 August 2014 via mobile

We arrived at the hotel at 3.20am and although tired and hot the receptionist was prompt in dealing with us, we went to our room and settled down for the morning, my daughter opened the curtain and found our apartment was on the road side, however did not care as too tired the following morning we went for breakfast which was good and then met the Thompson rep who spoke to manager asking for a change of room as when booked I did request room with sea view within the hour of speaking to rep, room was changed and the maid helped us move things over - so very grateful to her.
The rooms are comfy although they could do with remote control for TV and more English channels as none working...
The outdoor swimming pool area is okay with sun beds a plenty, the indoor swimming pool could be made slightly warmer.
The pool tables are perhaps not a good idea near the swimming pool as young children were taking the balls and throwing them in pool when pool shut.
The entertainment is good with a mix of everything for everyone the only downside is when there is entertainment at the other hotel there is none at this hotel.

Good tip: Although signal not brilliant all the time you can get wifi for a reasonable 15€

Planning to go back next year.

On arrival we where greeted by Eva and we where swiftly checked in. We requested two rooms one at the front and one at the back, and close together and that's what we got. All the reception staff where very helpful and friendly. The daily breakfast and dinners where excellent, with a huge choice of different foods on offer. The service in the restaurant and bar was very good and the waiting staff where very friendly and attentive. One night the Chefs did a very special buffet loaded with luxury foods like smoked salmon, a whole poached salmon, asparagus etc all beautifully presented with carved fruits as well as the normal foods. There was a daily chefs special where a chef would be carving or cooking the special of the day.The hotel is far enough from the very noisy bars not to hear them although the front of the hotel has some traffic noise. I slept like a baby as I wore ear plugs. I would request another sea view next time, as the hotel is right on the front and has beautiful views over the bay with lovely sunsets daily. The rooms are fitted with fans, and although you can pay extra for air conditioning, we didn't need it in the middle of August. There is a safe in each room, which you have to pay extra for. The rooms where cleaned daily either while we where at breakfast or after we left the rooms to go out for the day and fresh towels where provided daily. As our flight back was a late one, and we had to check out by 12, the hotel offered us the use of their showers in the lower ground fitness facilities and we could even have a extra meal without charge. The entertainment was shared with the sister hotel Ses Savines, so there was something going on every other night on the stage at the front of the hotel, but you could go and join daily by going to the other hotel. We rented a car and explored the whole island and although we where able to park the car every day one way or the other, the car park is quite small and I could see people having to park elsewhere.

Room Tip: 3rd floor sea view would probably be the best option for the noise levels with great sunsets. You do...

Just returned from this hotel and have to mention the staff in particular! Asun and Carmen in the restaurant took excellent care of us and gave us a bottle of wine with our last meal. How kind they were. My daughters friend celebrated her 16th birthday and the hotel gave us a beautiful cake free of charge. The bar staff Manuel and Olga and the bar manager were first class and very attentive and always had a smile on their face considering they worked long hours. They gave us A present on our last night too! We cannot complain about any of the staff as each and every one of them made our stay so pleasant. Treat people with respect and they will return it tenfold! Food was of great standard. Hotel location is fantastic with amazing sunsets and photos do not do it justice! Rooms a little outdated but cleaned every day.. We will return. Well done Arenal and only thing I would change is that although the entertainment is only every second night that maybe you could have a little entertainment on the other nights? Keep up the good work!

Room Tip: Sea view for fabulous sunsets

Just returned from a week at Arenal hotel. The hotel needs a little attention but nothing major. It was an absolutely fantastic position between quiet end and noisy end, and we had a sea view which was fabulous with all sorts of boats buzzing about. The sunsets were amazing from our balcony. Food was brilliant, staff were friendly. Bar prices weren`t much different from local bars. Entertainment could be better. Air conditioning was extra (which I thought was wrong - it should be included).
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking sea have better view.

We came here 14 years ago and loved it so decided to return this year. The hotel is still as good as ever, a little on the old fashioned side but that suits us as we're very down to earth! It's in a perfect position, not too far away from the main bars and clubs of San An but you can still get a decent nights sleep if u shut the patio doors. Food is lovely, lots of variation and the full English is great for soaking up last nights alcohol! Also the bar and snack prices are very reasonable for a hotel. Make sure you book a beach facing room, it's so worth it. Would definitely come here again :)
