My wife and me were there for a nice romantic evening without the children. It was simply excellent: nice ambiance, nice view over the beach, excellent food and friendly staff. We will go again with the kids. They have also a very nice lounge with a splendid view.

I would keep this for me but it's not fair: the hotel is special, everything about it is extraordinary.Small hotel, quiet , on the beach- beach is wonderfull , shallow ,cristal water. They have a jacuzzi on a small but great terrace.Nice treat. You can admire view to the sea and beach from jacuzzi . The hotel is very clean and despite what other people said, that is old , I will say it is special , very well maintained , really great. Is in my heart forever. The breakfast is great .I have to thank to mr. Tomeu which is a great manager ,he is the heart of this 10 star hotel !!! Bravo!

Reviewed 24 July 2012

My wife and I stayed at the Cap Vermell Beach Hotel for just one night, Wednesday 11th July 2012. This was the third night of a 7-night, 4-hotel self-drive tour of the island. This was my first trip to Mallorca but my wife had been twice as a teenager, quite a few years ago. We would certainly recommend the hotel, and wished we could have stayed for longer.

We booked nearly 5 months in advance using Venere.com, which gave the best rate having searched using TripAdvisor. We booked a standard double room on a flexible rate at a cost per night €107.53 including breakfast, with the cost being charged on departure from the hotel.

The hotel is just off the Ma4042 road from Capadera/Son Servera heading for the caves of Arta. It would be easy to miss – just past the golf course there is a small sign for “beach resort”, taking you down on the right to a roundabout by Canyamel beach. The hotel has a lovely setting overlooking the bay.

The hotel has the ambience of a refined, earlier age (the sign over the main entrance says “Vintage 1934”). We stayed in room 102 on the first floor. The room was a good size, traditionally furnished, with large twin beds, and plenty of storage space if you were staying for longer. There was satellite TV with plenty of (mostly German) channels. There was a mini bar but no price list; at checkout when we said what we’d had from the mini bar we were told that’s OK and were not charged! There was also a bowl of fruit (an orange apple, peach, pear, kiwi fruit and some lovely cherries), just right for our picnic on the beach the next day. Another nice touch were the robes and slippers. The bathroom was stunning (see picture) though I’m not sure I could have lived with those tiles in my own home … There was a big balcony with a table and two chairs, big enough so you had the option to sit either in the sun or the shade. The balcony was not totally private but we were not disturbed by our neighbours on either side.

We arrived late in the early evening so we didn’t really have time to make use of all of the hotel facilities. It has a nice decked area overlooking the beach, with double rattan sun beds. It doesn’t have a swimming pool but there is an outdoor hot tub.

We took the few steps down to the beach and strolled across to a beach bar. We then took a walk round the small town which was quite pleasant and had a few reasonable-looking restaurants if you wanted an alternative to the hotel’s restaurant.

We didn’t get chance to try the hotel’s cocktail bar, in a lovely position overlooking the bay.

We had an excellent dinner in the restaurant, probably the best food of our trip, but at just over €100 (bread and olives, two starters, two mains and a bottle of wine, we couldn’t make it to dessert) it was also the most expensive. The restaurant has a lovely setting overlooking the bay, great to see the sun set and then dine by candle light. The starters were excellent – mussels and gazpacho (each €15) - followed by salmon (€24) and one of the nicest fillet steaks I’ve ever had (€20). This was washed down by a very nice Mallorcan chardonnay (€24). The service was excellent, but the wine was placed in a floor-standing wine bucket out of our reach and topped up regularly by the waiting staff (too regularly in fact, I’d much rather do it myself, when we’re ready, and given the July temperatures, the wine stays cooler in the wine bucket, but then I guess it was up to me to say something!).

For the only time on this trip, breakfast was not buffet style. We were brought orange juice, coffee, a selection of fruit, cheese, cold meat, sausage, rolls and croissants and eggs were cooked to order and brought to our table. Overall it was excellent quality, and it was very nice for once not to have to keep getting up and seeking out what was on a buffet. You would be able to eat sufficient to keep you going for most of the day.

All the staff were very friendly and overall were very happy with the hotel.

Judging by the beautiful  photos of this hotel and a couple of nice reviews, we were really looking forward towards what we thought is going to be our relaxing summer holiday. However, the reality made us move to another hotel after a 5-days stay in Cap Vermell. As the time passes, I can tell, that it was not so bad as you might think it was. So, first, about the pluses:
1) The views from the restaurant terrace were stunning (we made lots of photos there)
2) Our room had a big balcony (more like terrace) where we spent 3 memorable evenings drinking vine and talking. However, it is not separated from the neighbour's terrace, which creates some problems you will acknowledge further on.
3) Every day we received a fresh complimentary fruit plate - really nice - strawberries and grapes
4) The hotel has it's own deck with loungers (free of charge and always plenty) which are quite comfortable and only a few metres from the sea.
5) Lots of bathroom amenities - soap, gel, shampoo which are replenished every day.
That is all with the pluses. Now, minuses:
1) The building is really, really very old. So, the creaking floors, old wood and dated furniture everywhere. Yes, it has some charm and atmosphere but it also creates a lot of problems. The first problem was an old bed which was too short for my husband. We complained, and thanks to the manager, one side of the bed was simply removed.
2) Nasty (and I mean it!) breakfast which was exactly the same for 5 days. Can you imagine a cook who can't make fried eggs? Well, we met the person in this hotel: part of the eggs were burned, while the other part was completely raw!
3) Dirty pound surrounding the hotel in which we saw small fish as well as (yucks!) fish worms
4) And, finally, why we had to move from the hotel: it is old as I mentioned above and has no soundproofing whatsoever. On our 4th day the room next to ours became populated. And since that time we had no wink of sleep: footsteps, doors slamming, floor creaking - we heard it all through the night.  After 2 sleepless nights we decided to leave.
5) As the terraces have no walls or even glass between them, you will experience the life of your neighbours. Ours were terrible chain smokers that is why we were not able to enjoy the evenings on the balcony any more. I don't smoke and my huz usually smokes 1-2 cigarettes per evening, which I can bear, but when it comes to 2 packs, trust me, I am not the person to ruin my lungs because of someone's bad habit.
The decision is still yours, but beware: if you are not lucky with neighbours, you will experience not a relaxing holiday, but a nightmare..

We have stayed at this hotel twice in two years and hope to return. It is flawless in every respect, especially the outstanding view from the restaurant which puts the Cote d'Azur to shame. Dining in the evening overlooking the sea is achingly romantic. The service is very attentive. Its position overlooking the beach allows you to use the beach and swim in the sea and with a few steps you can lounge by the (jacuzzi) pool in luxury. There is no conventional swimming pool. The only slight detraction are the rooms which are quite dark and old fashioned, the bathrooms taking up the space of the best views. Having said that, they are extremely comfortable with all mod cons. We have not been put off by the dark aspect of the rooms as the Canyamel sunshine can be enjoyed from the balcony or patio. This place is a gem!

Room Tip: There aren't many rooms. Sea views are most expensive but we would recommend the other side wit...

We spent a week at this hotel right on the beach in Canyamel. It is a classy operation. Although it is small, it has all you need for a great holiday. The service is helpful and efficient, and they keep everything clean. The breakfast that was included with our stay was excellent, far better than many other hotels we have stayed at in Europe, the Caribbean or North America. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent.

The hotel is right on the beach and you also have the choice of a very nicely maintained deck area with cushioned sun chairs and a hot tub The view from their is great and it is 30 seconds from the beach

We both felt that this was one of our top to hotels that we have ever stayed and and would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Bring earplugs, as it can be a bit noisy on some nights on the beach
