Canyamel Parks is a plain hotel, very typical Spanish 3* hotel with little attention to detail and low budget to satisfy investors. It sells mostly to German and Italians, so evening shows are only in German, and the food times end quite early.

Reception is plain, with outdated furniture, and a strange sewer smell, specially in the mid-day hours. Reception staff is helpful, but they have attitude when you ask for anything out of the ordinary. They are helpful, but not with a smile.

Rooms are quite small. Smaller than similar category hotels. Specially points out how narrow rooms are. Given the fact baths have a standard tub, leaves very little space for the hall leading to the room, so the first impression is almost claustrophobic.

Air Conditioned in the rooms does not work to full power, seems like they have it fixed to save power, and one can't ever get the desired temperature. A/C turns off when you leave the room (leave a card on the slot for continous operation) or when you open the terrace door (which seems reasonable).

We got the superior rooms, with a nice bathrooms, but not worth the price we pay, considering the size of the room. TV was LCD wall-mounted, but fixed on one side of the room, did not swivel, so it was hard to see from the bed. TV lacked all Spanish channels except 4, and had a very good German variety, a few Italian and English.

The food is average. The show cooking service is great, not because of the food, but because of the person making it, that gives a personal touch to a hotel where managers just don't care.

The very best of the hotel is their restaurant table staff serving the terrace area. They are friendly, helpfull, talkative, and service oriented (so nice that they seems out of place).

Every extra on the hotel is for sale. Expect to pay for beach towels (3 E + 10 E deposit), tennis (9 E + 5 E racket rental), sauna (10 E / hour), safe (11 E/week), and of course all drinks during lunch or dinner. Don't be fooled by golf discounts, after we traveled to the site, we found out there were no discounts.

The hotel manager was not receptive to critics, even though we tried. He uses a variety of pre-made excuses regardless of the topic discussed. We figure the customer return rate at the hotel is extremely low, so there is little improvement based on customer feedback.

Pool is small considering the hotel size, and hamocks are almost always reserved early and unaccesible.

Beach is 50 meters away. Sandy area is crowded; rocky area is not. Beach is nice for kids as the waters are calmed and kids can walk in a good bit and waters level is still at their waist.

Area is very quiet. Good for relaxing. No pubs, bars or nightlife anywhere near.

Bottom line: don't waste your money on the 3 large hotels in Canyamel as looks like you are bound to get the same careless service. Try Font de sa Cala nearby for a quiet area.

My family and I stayed 8 days in the Canyamel Park. We reserved a "superior room" that to our surprise was very narrow. One has just enough space to move from one side of the room to the other. The new/refurbished room is OK, all white/cream colors and the bathroom is as well renovated and contrary to the room, very spacious. Our room had a partial sea view.
TV channels, mostly in German, only BBC and CNN in English, Rai in Italian and 3 Spanish that had bad reception, so not even worth trying to see them.
The good things: the 3 waiters at the terrace in restaurant. With high standards and understanding of service...unlikely the manager!!!!
The hotel is 3 mins walk from the beach and the Canyamel "shopping/dinning" area.
The "not so good things"…be ready to be awake early during your holidays. Breakfast is taken away at 10:10 SHARP!!! and the restaurant closes at 10:15 sharp. Same for dinner...make sure you are sit by 20:30...they take away the food without previous notice by 21:10 and the restaurant is closed by 21:15.
Make sure you have a German- English or German-Spanish dictionary with you. If you are not a German speaker, forget about participating in the morning or evening activities. If your kids do not speak German, forget about the "Kids Club"...all is for German speakers...to bad when the hotel has a good mix of Italian, Spanish and British as well.
Make sure you bring your beach towel or be ready to pay a 3€ fee per day/per clean towel apart from the 10€ deposit per towel.
Mind a tennis match?....well, don’t get misled like we did in their webpage. You will be charged hourly to use the tennis courts and of course racquets (if you didn’t bring yours). And of course, don’t forget cleaning it!
Golf? On our check-in, we were told that Canyamel Golf will give us 40% discount, to our surprise, when we got into the Golf course no discount was offered due to the seasonality. Regular discount is really 10% off season and not 40% as told.
Before taking a shower at night time, make sure you have soap with you. The hotel will not provide a soap refill for your bathroom until the next morning.
For the rest...an average hotel in a very nice, quiet and family oriented part of Mallorca.

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Canyamel Park for 8 days and it was quite alright. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms ("standard room") rather no-frills but clean with balcony, air-conditioning, TV (mostly Spanish, Italian and German stations plus BBC World, CNN International and Sky News in varying quality). The walls are indeed not bomb-shelter thick, but my girlfriend uses earplugs anyway and I had no problem either.

We had breakfast and dinner there every night and liked it very much - you choose from a buffet and of course there is a repetition of meals or some salads that might not appeal to your personal taste every once in a while. The show cooking provides scrambled eggs and omelettes in the morning, various grilled stuff in the evenings (fish has been always great there - so fresh!).

If you wake up easily and go to bed before midnight, don't take a room towards the pool, because there's the stage for the evening entertainment which is partly very good (black light theatre, traditional flamenco-style music groups), partly so-so (some two-man bands, comedy in Italian or German, bingo) and you can be sure that the entertainment program goes on at least till 11pm. We had our room on the second floor almost right next to the stage, but both could sleep, too. Again - we're not fussy about this. Other people might have their problems!

The people going there were mostly families or couples. Not really the party crowds (those are some way up north in Cala Rajada). So if you're into binge drinking, this is not the place to be (thankfully). Nationalitywise are I would say mostly Italians and Germans, then Spanish and a few British people.

The beach of Canyamel (nice, clean, sandy with some rocks, not too small, slowly descending ground) is roughly 100m away - the hotel itself isn't on the beach, though (a small pine grove and another hotels blocks it from being there).

We would go there again, but then we'd take a room further away from the stage. Although we didn't really mind that much, we would've enjoyed it even more with less entertainment program. ;)

Myself, my husband and our 11 year-old daughter were looking forward to getting away from the more touristy spots on Mallorca and settled down for the resort of Canyamel on the north eastern coast of the island.
Even though it was the end of August, this resort gave a whole new meaning to the word 'quiet' and it resembled more a tired and what I'd call a 'ghost' resort, with run-down buildings, an incredibly 'empty' ice cream parlour and a very sad and boring evening scene and bars, which tried hard to put entertainment on, but with zero atmosphere and zero feedback from the clients, most of whom were Germans!!!
We stayed at an apartment part of a 3 star hotel complex and the highlight of the holiday was to have a free rooftop pool, only a flight of stairs away from our room! The apartment was ok, but the air conditioning was definitely not working properly. We were on half board and after day 3 of uninspiring and processed food, similar to school dinners, we decided to eat out to sample some of the local cuisine and to do this we had to go to the port of Alcudia!! By then, we were so glad of having rented a car and also pleased that we were only staying for a week instead of 2!!
This part of Majorca is almost exclusively full of German holidaymakers, which is no bad thing, if it wasn't for the fact that we felt distinctly ostracized (I'm a well behaved Italian and my husband is a civilised Welshman!) and the staff was not terribly friendly, apart from the ladies at reception. One thing that annoyed us about the hotel is that they kept on moving us to different tables for breakfast and dinner, until the point I demanded to see the dining room manager, who clearly did not know what he was doing!!
Overall it was a disappointing holiday, apart from the rooftop pool, a nice beach and sea and the only friendly waiter in the whole resort, who worked in the restaurant on the beach.
We will certainly not be going back there!!!!!!!!!!

I visited the Canyamel Park hotel in September 2007 with my partner (we are in our late 20s). Upon arrival the hotel appartments were overbooked and they had to arrange for us to stay in another set of appartments over the road from the hotel (we received 30 Euros compensation for this).

I was disappointed to discover that the hotel appartments were 200 yards away from the the hotel complex. I felt that this was misrepresented in the literature that I received as I was under the impression that the appartments were withing the hotel complex. There is a small swimming pool on the roof of appartments that is very bare but serves a purpose. The swimming pool in the main complex is plenty big enough and there are lots of sunbeds (although I was slighly out of season so not sure in high season if there would be a scrabble for them).

The staff were very pleasant and accommodating.

The appartment itself was a nice size with a large balcony (unfortunately no nice view). The kitchen facilities were poor and you certainly wouldn't be able to cook a meal with the limited equipment provided (fortunately I prefer to eat out). There is a 7 day a week maid service so the appartment was always clean. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and I therefore struggled to sleep most nights. There is a television in the room that only has one English channel (CNN).

The area is extremely quiet with around 10 restaurants (of which 3 were busy). The area is predominately German therefore restaurants were catered towards them. The beach is only over the road from the hotel complex and it's very clean with two nice beach bars. There are two bars in the area both of which were empty every night.

There is entertainment for the children in the hotel on some nights but again this is catered towards German children which German songs and the entertainer speaking in German.

In conclusion, I feel that the although the appartments were acceptable and reasonably priced I won't be revisiting the appartments as the area was a bit of a let down. We run out of things tro do by the second night and it wasn't particularly 'Spanish' - no Tapas bars anywhere all Bratwurst!!!

I think an older couple might enjoy this resort if they are looking for early nights and no company.
