minor improvements made since last year e.g. Installed safe.
A car is useful, but not essential - supermarket, bus stop 5 min walk, marina approx 25 mins walk, & taxis are cheap.
Rental company gave a vey good service.
The villa offers a good compromise on many fronts - overall as a family we think it is good value!
Villa is situated on a partially complete development, though local to villa it is complete. Location is convenient to beach, marina, supermarket and bus stop.
Villa is well serviced and of good state. TV channels based on free view, Internet is via satellite.
Pool area is partially overlooked. Having a cactus garden and unguarded pool makes it unsuitable for young children.
Only improvement would be availability of a safe.
Upon arrival the pool was filthy, the wifi didn't work and the satellite tv consisted of several hundred Arabic channels. We could only find one channel that was BBC news. I had emailed them prior to booking to confirm that they had English channels which they replied saying 'of course'. We complained and the pool was cleaned that night. Three days into our one week stay, they topped up the Wifi dongle so that we could access the internet, however it was VERY poor signal. They allegedly had a satellite guy round to look at the tv and found a further 3 channels! The sauna that they have doesn't work and the hot water was brown!! Despite all these problems the villa was nice but compared to other villas of similar price range I wish we'd chosen a different one. When we were awaiting for our deposit to be refunded they claimed that there were several plates and cups broken, which was definitely not true!! Avoid this villa!!
Our friends and I stayed in the Villa Roman in Oct 2012 for 1 week. We found the villa well furnished and a good standard compared to other villas we have stayed in.
We have a toddler and the management organised a cot and a highchair for our stay which was very convenient.
The garden did contain many cactus which was not listed on the details - something to note if travelling with a toddler!
We would have liked to have seen a welcome pack and some information on the local area however this was not supplied so you will need to stock up on your first day with dish cloths, washing up liquid etc.
We would recommend hiring a car as it is too far to walk in the heat to the shops and restaurants.
I'm afraid we were let down when we returned to the UK when our security deposit was reduced for breaking a saucepan (they charged us over €20 to replace this item). We explained to the management company that we did not break the pan but this fell on deaf ears. We even asked to speak to the owner and this did not happen. Very disappointing! I recommend if you rent this villa to photograph everything on arrival and report any damages as they will charge you on departure and you have no course of action.
I’m afraid this ruined what was a lovely holiday – we will certainly return to the area but would avoid this villa and this management company.
