just back from an 11 night stay here we stayed as a family of 4(2 boys aged 13) reception was very welcoming when we first arrived .staff were all very friendly and the entertainment team were excellent. the pool always had beds as was the same at the waterpark the slides were great but beware of the flume with the inflatables as several people came off with banged heads or elbows. the rooms were nice and clean and spacious.however the restaurant is another matter there was never enough staff on to clear tables for people entering so had to set own tables on occasion and had 2 clear them aswell as I said not staffs fault as not enough of them same can be said of lobby bar at night as a lot of people used it as entertainment hall was not big enough for all the guests .the food isn't the greatest and struggled on several occasions 2 find a meal but others enjoyed it . I also felt more bars could be open during the day as not everyone wants 2 sit by the pool everyday in the breeze(gale force wind)also there isn't much for teenagers 2 do after pool is closed so at night can be bored

I was a little apprehensive after reading other reviews for the Paradise Island resort but the hotel was very nice, perfect for families. On arrival we were greeted with champagne and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. There is a daily bus service to and from the beach which is very handy as its quite a walk or you can get a taxi for around 3 euros. The maids came in almost every day and did an excellent cleaning job. The pool areas were kept clean and tidy and life guards were meticulous around the water park area. The evening staff work extremely hard and are always pleasant and friendly. The choice of food was good, chicken pork, sometimes beef, with plenty of pasta bread chips etc...themed nights in the second buffet restaurant a couple of nights a week. The entertainment team were fantastic as was the children's club. Very comfy mattresses (very important) Would definitely visit again.

We just got back yesterday and if you are travelling with children this hotel is brilliant, very child friendly and the 4 year old in our party loved every minute of his time here, I will break this review down into subjects

The hotel grounds are spotless, from the pool area to the gardens to the waterpark all first class.

The pool area has lots of sunbeds and this is honestly the first hotel we have stayed in where there were no reserved sunbeds. Maybe because the hotel was so quiet there really wasn't any need. I do have to agree that the pools were very cold to get into but once you were in they were fine. The children's water park was more shallow and by the afternoon the water was warmer, and again in this area plenty of sunbeds. Lifeguards at every pool and the majority of them were very good, there was one who several people commented on who hardly even looked at the pool.

Rooms. They were pretty much what I expected them to be. Basic but clean. You had a living area and basic supplies for self catering. I couldn't tell you in all honesty what they were because we were all inclusive and I didn't really have cause to look. There was a microwave, fridge 2 hot plates. What was in the cupboard will I can't say. The living area had 2 sofa's that turned into 2 single beds, a table and chairs and a unit with the TV on. The bedroom had a queensize bed and a large double wardrobe and a safe that you needed to hire they key for. What was very convenient was the fact there were several sockets in the room, in this day of mobile phones, ipads, kindles etc it was great that 2 or 3 of these could be charged overnight. My only problem with the room was the maid, it was very hit and miss if they turned up to clean the room. after 3 days I put the 'please make up my room' sign and it seemed to work.

The restaurant that I had read so many complaints about was really very good. No matter what time we got there we always had a clean table and the staff worked really hard there. The food was typical all inclusive but we all said that there wasn't a single day when we struggled to find something we liked. The drinks were help yourself.

Reception were without exception pleasant and helpful. As there were 5 in our party 4 adults and 1 child, we always ordered a taxi through them rather than walk 20 yards down the road to the taxi rank when we would have to have had 2 instead of travelling together in a 6 seater. The cost was typically 3.10 Euro's to the town centre. Any information request were dealt with efficiently and always with a smile.

The Thomas Cook entertainment team worked really hard but were not pushy, if you wished to join in you were welcome but you never felt pressured into doing so. Danni the Thomas Cook rep was the friendliest I have ever encountered a true asset to the company.

This hotel really is what it says on the tin. Perfect if you are travelling with children, but to be honest not somewhere I would stay if I was travelling as a couple. And beware if you have a noisy neighbour as the walls are fairly thin. To our misfortune we had the room next to the loudest person on the complex who wasn't to worried about screaming at her children in the most colourful of language, but I can't blame the hotel for that.

If you are travelling as a family, honestly you can't go wrong. The children will love this place, is it a 5 star, no it isn't, is it clean and tidy and perfect for family holidays, yes it most certainly is. Go and enjoy !!!

Room Tip: Block 200 backs onto pool and is close to everything but away from night time entertainment

We were checked in by a lovely member of staff and were given what we think was one of the best located rooms next to the shallow pool.we were very impressed the hotel was stunning especially at night when lit up.we didn't see any dreaded insects.the food was ok the same as most places we have been you always find something you would eat.the room was very good.kids club was great its the first time we've used one and felt relaxed about leaving the kids.we had our 3 grandchildren under 7 and so the entertainment and nightlife finishing earlyish was fine for us.I agree with another review that the pools were so cold it was not good.also I was impressed with the ammount of lifeguards the thing I didn't like about the pool was there were 3 outdoor showers areas around the pool which often blocked our view of the kids.plus the manager gave us some other familys passports back luckily I looked before leaving.shame there's not anything between the hotel and the beach so nowhere to have a walk outside.but we and the kids had a great time.

We have just arrived back from a week stay at this hotel, our feelings are that it is more a 3 star than a 4. This is due to the food mainly, as evening meal was basic, there wasn't really a variety and the kids buffet consisted of chips, plain pasta with a sauce if wanted and perhaps pizza or a sausage! The all-inclusive didnt include slush for kids and the ice cream was either vanilla or strawberry! We did ask on a few afternoons for other ice cream or cake when it had run out and not been re-stocked.

My kids didnt access the kids club, but this seemed okay, the mini disco was a bit rubbish due to the amount of games played and not much dance!

The dino pool was fab, kept really clean and tidy and a huge hit with all the family.

The rooms were clean and tidy.

My wife, my young son and I have just returned from a holiday at the Paradise Island hotel in Lanzarote. The hotel itself is fairly basic but it was spotlessly clean the entire time we were there and we got a nice warm welcome from the reception staff upon arrival and of course, the all important glass of chilled bubbly! Our room had everything we needed and was given the once-over by the maids every day or so. The food onsite was fine but at times a little functional and 'samey', we were only there for a week but if we'd been there for 2 I think we would have struggled with it a bit. The water park at the back of the hotel was great but my biggest issue about this complex was the pools, they weren't heated and they were FREEZING to the extent that you just don't want to go in them and that was a real shame. The Kid's Club guys and girls are absolutely fantastic, I can't sing their praises high enough and our rep Danielle was always on hand, friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel provides a free bus service to and from the Rubicon Marina and I thought this was an excellent thing to provide for free. We went there a few times and went to the market, the Darada beach and a few surrounding cafes and bars and really enjoyed it there. I would recommend a day at the market to anyone who goes to Playa Blanca, the stalls are crammed with little gems and the people there are not in the slightest bit aggressive. You can stop and have a proper look at the items on sale and they won't do the 'hard-sell', they'll just tell you about the stuff they've got and let you decide whether you want to buy it or not. Our son had an absolute ball and we will definitely be returning to Lanzarote. We may try a different hotel but if Paradise Island was the only one available, I wouldn't at all mind going back there.

Room Tip: Not really any 'bad' rooms but maybe one a bit further from the pool area would be best, don...
