We stayed for a week in early July, all inclusive. Myself, my husband, twins aged 16 and son aged 3. Check in was great and we were given a map to find our accommodation. The accommodation was basic but clean and suited our needs. Bed a little too had but we got used to it. One thing i didnt like was that when we were packing to leave, one of the cleaners changed the beds in the kids room ready for the next guest, but they only changed the sheets and not the blanket and top cover!!! Our accommodation was overlooking the pool and entertainment area and the only down side to this was that the evening entertainment was directly across from us and the noise from the evening entertainment seemed to bounce off our apartment so sleep was a no no until the entertainment finished at midnight. If you go ask for a room near to the waterpark. These are quieter but we did find there was a lot more stray cats down that end.
The waterpark was amazing. The area was kept clean and there was 8 big water slides. There was a lifeguard there at all times. There was a smaller water park for the little ones and the only downside i could find was that the area was very slippery and a lot of kids fell over. There was also a big sandpit and play area here, as well as an area where the kids could be arty and not forgetting the wonderful nursery. We put our son in here 3 times in the week and he loved it. It gave us a bit of time to sunbathe without having to keep our eye on him and he was having chocolate parties and all sorts in the nursery. The nursery is very secure and the staff are all fantastic and do such a great job with the kids. I felt safe leaving him there.
There are also 3 pools up the top end near the restaurant and a kids pool but they were not heated so the water was cold. Never any problems getting sunbeds although the sunbeds were very uncomfortable.
The entertainment on a night was good if you like that sort of thing. Most nights it would be a kids disco, followed by a game of bingo then some adults entertainment such as games similar to the cube and I had a great time playing vodka whiskey!!! One night they had a bird show and another night some very loud drums!!
Now for the down side - the food and drink. Breakfast was good. You could have a fry up, cereal, breads and croissants. Cant really fault the breakfasts. Lunch was ok. You could choose from salads and chips in the restaurant or burgers or hotdogs and chips at the pool bar. These weren't bad but very repetitive. However the evening meal wasn;t good at all. Hardly any choice, very repetitive and what was there tasted bland and boring. We decided to eat out on the final night, we were so sick of it. Some nights they had a BBQ going where u could get steak or sausages and jacket potatoes which were ok. There was also the chinese restaurant but unless you like pork fried rice, noodles or fried fish or chicken, i wouldnt bother. Someone left the hotel rather hastily when they found a cat in the restaurant eating the food and her husband got diarrhoea. 2 days later environmental health apparently were in the restaurant testing the food although i didnt see this, was only told by someone.
The drinks were terrible The fizzy pop was way to sweet although the fruit juices were nice. The lager was ok, wines (red, white or rose) were horrible. You could also get the house vodka or rum which were ok but mixed with the coke there, it was just too sweet. On the last two nights i bought a bottle of barcadi and coke zero from the shop and drank those instead. The all inclusive cocktails available were Pina colada, Vodka sun and sex on the beach. These were ok, just too sweet and i do have a very sweet tooth!! Bar closes at 11pm too.
There is an onsite shop which had everything u needed, although a little expensive. Playa Blanca is wonderful and the beach is great. U can get a free shuttle bus from the hotel to the beach between 9am and 6pm but a taxi was only 3.50 euros.
Wi-fi was useless, but good 3g signal. There was a computer in the lobby you could pay to use.
All in all we had a fantastic family holiday here and if the food and drink was improved, i would return. Rated only 3 stars because of the food and drink and slippery kids pool area.
