“Some parts excellent, some terrible”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2014

We stayed for a week in early July, all inclusive. Myself, my husband, twins aged 16 and son aged 3. Check in was great and we were given a map to find our accommodation. The accommodation was basic but clean and suited our needs. Bed a little too had but we got used to it. One thing i didnt like was that when we were packing to leave, one of the cleaners changed the beds in the kids room ready for the next guest, but they only changed the sheets and not the blanket and top cover!!! Our accommodation was overlooking the pool and entertainment area and the only down side to this was that the evening entertainment was directly across from us and the noise from the evening entertainment seemed to bounce off our apartment so sleep was a no no until the entertainment finished at midnight. If you go ask for a room near to the waterpark. These are quieter but we did find there was a lot more stray cats down that end.

The waterpark was amazing. The area was kept clean and there was 8 big water slides. There was a lifeguard there at all times. There was a smaller water park for the little ones and the only downside i could find was that the area was very slippery and a lot of kids fell over. There was also a big sandpit and play area here, as well as an area where the kids could be arty and not forgetting the wonderful nursery. We put our son in here 3 times in the week and he loved it. It gave us a bit of time to sunbathe without having to keep our eye on him and he was having chocolate parties and all sorts in the nursery. The nursery is very secure and the staff are all fantastic and do such a great job with the kids. I felt safe leaving him there.

There are also 3 pools up the top end near the restaurant and a kids pool but they were not heated so the water was cold. Never any problems getting sunbeds although the sunbeds were very uncomfortable.

The entertainment on a night was good if you like that sort of thing. Most nights it would be a kids disco, followed by a game of bingo then some adults entertainment such as games similar to the cube and I had a great time playing vodka whiskey!!! One night they had a bird show and another night some very loud drums!!

Now for the down side - the food and drink. Breakfast was good. You could have a fry up, cereal, breads and croissants. Cant really fault the breakfasts. Lunch was ok. You could choose from salads and chips in the restaurant or burgers or hotdogs and chips at the pool bar. These weren't bad but very repetitive. However the evening meal wasn;t good at all. Hardly any choice, very repetitive and what was there tasted bland and boring. We decided to eat out on the final night, we were so sick of it. Some nights they had a BBQ going where u could get steak or sausages and jacket potatoes which were ok. There was also the chinese restaurant but unless you like pork fried rice, noodles or fried fish or chicken, i wouldnt bother. Someone left the hotel rather hastily when they found a cat in the restaurant eating the food and her husband got diarrhoea. 2 days later environmental health apparently were in the restaurant testing the food although i didnt see this, was only told by someone.

The drinks were terrible The fizzy pop was way to sweet although the fruit juices were nice. The lager was ok, wines (red, white or rose) were horrible. You could also get the house vodka or rum which were ok but mixed with the coke there, it was just too sweet. On the last two nights i bought a bottle of barcadi and coke zero from the shop and drank those instead. The all inclusive cocktails available were Pina colada, Vodka sun and sex on the beach. These were ok, just too sweet and i do have a very sweet tooth!! Bar closes at 11pm too.

There is an onsite shop which had everything u needed, although a little expensive. Playa Blanca is wonderful and the beach is great. U can get a free shuttle bus from the hotel to the beach between 9am and 6pm but a taxi was only 3.50 euros.

Wi-fi was useless, but good 3g signal. There was a computer in the lobby you could pay to use.

All in all we had a fantastic family holiday here and if the food and drink was improved, i would return. Rated only 3 stars because of the food and drink and slippery kids pool area.

Room Tip: Near the waterpark. Ask for upstairs apartment as you get the sun on your balcony

Location - remote. Nothing nearby and it's a 30/40 min walk to resort centre. There is a small supermarket shop attached to hotel and the hotel does run a courtesy bus to and from the beach .

Reception - check in very quick and the staff were always lovely and helpful. There was a table where you could have a glass of bubbly on arrival, although this wasn't pointed out by anyone and I only noticed it several days later.
Rooms - we had an adapted room suitable for a wheelchair. The rooms were large and clean. We had a lovely walk in shower. Maid service almost daily. Kitchen not very well equipped. No kettle or cups. Had to ask for kettle at reception and were told we would be placed on a waiting list as hotel was full. Same goes for extra pillows. We had to steal some cups from the restaurant . Rooms do have a fridge which was fab. Waited a couple of days for kettle and pillows. Our room (623) was located directly behind the pool bar and entertainment complex. This was very loud and not ideal if you have children and want to get an early night. This is also where all the adapted rooms are so if you have a disability you have no choice but to endure it. Quieter room are in the 100 block. The room is in a great location though for getting drinks from the bar and sitting in the patio area outside. We had one spider the whole time we were there and didn't see any other bugs. You will need to leave a 10 euro deposit for TV remote .
Food - the main restaurant is a buffet style and was very repetitive . The food was always cooked well though and usually hot. There is a small section for kids but this only seemed to serve chips veg and either pasta or onion rings, so if you are expecting chicken nuggets burgers pizza or similar forget it. Also if you are a veggie (like me ) expect to live on salad pasta and rice for the fortnight.. There is a Chinese restaurant that seemed to serve the same stuff every night and also an Italian but didn't have pizza when ever we went in just pasta again . There are juice lager water and wine machines and you just help yourself. The restaurant can get busy and you will have to queue for food. We rarely had any problem finding a table and the staff work really hard trying o clear them and reset them. Pool bar serves burgers chips and salad and occasionally pizza. Again you will have to queue. Kids loved the burgers. The food was ok and we always found something to eat but don't go here expecting any British grub (apart from breakfast that is ).
Pool areas - the water park was brilliant for us. We have a 5 and a 9 year old who were kept busy all day. There is a wee soft play are and a sandy park with swings and also a couple of slides. This is also where the kids club is located. The boys did use the kids club a couple of times and enjoy edit. The staff there are wonderful with the kids. We only sat by the bigger pools once. The pools are freezing but the children didn't seem to mind. There are 6/7larger slides and a small lazy river for children only. You cannot get alcohol or food in the water park but you can go to pool bar and bring it in.
We booked a boat trip through Thomas Cook and this was good. Although beware when you are booking through Thomas Cook as the rep will tell you are getting free child places and it's not until you get there and discover what she is actually doing is putting kids through as infants so they go free. This in itself wouldn't have been a huge issue if it were not for the fact that infants are not entitled to seats on the bus and you end up with a child of 5 sitting on your knee with no seatbelt. And let's face it the drivers in Spain are crazy especially the bus drivers.
All in all we enjoyed our time here and would go back if the weather had been better. Lanzarote is very windy and if the sun isn't out it can feel quite cold. There were many days the sun didn't appear till after 3oclock. So for this reason we won't be returning, but as hotels go this one is fine.

Room Tip: For a quiter room ask for the 100 block

Dates stayed 30th June 2014 - 14th July 2014
Room 135

First of all I would like to say thanks to all the hotel staff for a great holiday. Matte, from the Netherlands in the restaurant gave an excellent service, Richard from Hungary at the pool side bar, was fantastic always had a smile on his face!
Thanks to the thomas cook kids club were also excellent - hannah and zoe had a great time with you guys.
The thomas cook entertainment staff, Jordan was a great laugh as well as Chelsea however Katy and Lauren really made the kids a cracking laugh! MON TEAM WHISKY!

Rooms, the room I had was spacious and clean. The only down fall was that I had to hire a remote for the air con and TV. I thought I could use then without it however I was wrong. The room was cleaned 5 times aweek which was great.

Food/restaurants, the food was to a good standard as it's an all inclusive hotel cook food for the masses. The canaries night was excellent with having singers in on a Tuesday night and Mexican night on a Saturday was our favourite by far! The Chinese restaurant open all night was great as well however I never tried the Italian one so I can't comment on it. Pool side bar lunch was just as good. Picky eaters won't go hungry, I should know, I'm one of them.

Pool - big pool, a bit cold to start with however with the heat it's welcomed to cool off. You will get used to it if you jump straight in.

Dino park / water park, now I have to say a huge massive thanks to the life guard and supervisor whom help my daughter when she feel on the shark slide and hurt her mouth. It was a bad fall, and they acted before I could say help! The fast acting help may help save her teeth after the fall.

The water park is excellent for all ages, babies, young kids and older kids alike. The height for the kids slides are 140 metres max and a min of 120 for the bigger slides like the multi lane, flumes etc.

OTHERS - the hotel have there own entertainment team which are for all guests as they speak loads of different languages as well as there own kids club.

Improvements, a net is needed over the top of football pitch next to the water park. My wife and were hit countless times football's whilst lying by the kids pool in the water park. I also saw over peoples kids as young as 2/3 years old being hit by the also.

My myself and the rest of my family had a great stay, made some great friends, staff and guests alike, I will be back in the future. Take care guys!

Dear Andy S,

Thank you for this friendly comment on Tripadvisor and for highlighting our fantastic team!

It is wonderful to read that you and your family spent a lovely vacation and didn't want to leave us.

Please note that all remote controls are only on a deposit that you will get back when you return the items to reception.

We are very pleased to read that you were happy with our gastronomic offerings and especially appreciated our theme nights and the Chinese buffet.

We sincerely hope that your daughter's teeth could be saved after her accident at the water park! We are glad our lifeguards could help.

Thank you very much for your comment about the football pitch. We were not aware of this issue and will address it right away!

Again, thank you for sharing this lovely review. It would be a pleasure for us to welcome you back in the near future.

Warmest regards,

The management

Spent two weeks at this hotel, mum, dad, 2 boys 4 & 6..... Pretty much Blackpool/Butin's in the sun, minus all the younger, offensive half dressed, booze fuelled holiday makers. In short, Lanzarorte is a lovely island if you want to move beyond AI and go see it, we did. Hotel is remote, not even a corner shop nearby I.e. nearest 5 Euros taxi away, woman who runs the hotel attached one, rude, rude and more rude! Actually shouted at the mother of an 18 month child for having no shoes on. But in saying this it seemed to be her bug bear, she did it with everyone on the 3 occasions I was in the shop, before I decided, too bloody cheeky, not a penny more does she get!
Rooms....pretty much what you see on line, maid service good, food, typical of catering to the masses.... You won't starve but forget actually having a meal!!!!! Probably down to the Brits! Why Q for stuff you don't want. All very reminiscent of a terrible buffet at a cheap engagement party. If you want chicken, q for that, don't stand in a line, polite but fuming, to visit everything else you don't want, then end up with a cold dinner when everyone else is finished already!!!!!!
Entertainment was abmissal, best nights were when the droning British reps took a night off. Day time crew pretty good, when they weren't getting pissed at the pool and generally enjoying their holiday more. The best 2 nights were the HL team entertainment nights but they only covered the reps nights off. It is what it is, but not in the brochure..... 4stxxxxackside, probably got a star for having a hairdryer in room. Wouldn't go back. Very disappointed in the security. Being pitched to families, no security at reception door, bussing folk in from 2 sister hotels to use water park and restaurants at their leisure, then get this, selling tickets with flyers down the town for anyone else and their granny to be bussed in on an hourly basis..... Part of the reason we left "our" hotel and saw so much of the island......the place was rammed with datrippers,.............POOR, spend your money on good food, central location and pay a tenner to bus in for the facilities, don't think any guests are using them.......they all bussed out for a holiday, Paradise, more like Alcatraz Island, but loved Lanzarote, just not this con xxxxxcc

Room Tip: Rooms all span like beams round a sun, pool being the sun, nothing is that far unless you can't...

had no problem with staff check in was fast as we arrived late due to delays was surprised to find a meal and drinks had been put out for us, waterpark was fine and kids pool was a big hit with the little ones roms were large and clean beds a bit uncomfortable but comes down to personel taste,
food a bit repetative even for a week stay did have themed nights wich were reasonable,
bit further from geach than led to believe by brochure but there was a free bus if you could get on it.
all in all good hotel not fantastic but better due to staff

Room Tip: get one away from the pool bar and disco wich ar together and go on quite late

Dear Stewart m,

Thank you very much for your feedback, we really appreciate your kind words about our team.

Your praise is truly encouraging for us in our efforts to offer an enjoyable and memorable experience to each of our guests.

Please note that there is a smaller beach called Flamingo Beach which is much closer to the hotel than the Playa Dorada where our free shuttle bus takes you.

Again thank you! We would be very happy to have the pleasure to welcome you to our hotel again in the future.

I have never commented or given feedback in all my years of holidaying abroad but we feel we need to inform anyone planning on going to Paradis Island Hotel in Playa Blanca! First impression of this hotel was dated, dull not worthy of its 3 star status even though we were assured that it was 4 stars, first room we were given 108, curtains hanging off tracks and torn, furniture in need of repair or should be replaced, dark and didn't smell good at all. When we went to reception to complain we notice a clear "feed back" box, there were several comments inside the box however, when read the one on top which totally slated the place, In particular the food, room and general grounds. It appeared that their kids were constantly being bitten by fleas they went as far as saying it was a flea infested room... Turns out it was the same room we were given.

The next room 139 was worse than the first and also smelled like a sewer, we asked to see the manager who assured us they could get us a 'nice' room, 220 slightly better with pool view, well it would be if the palm try we're removed, you could not use this balcony at all, we decided we would stay one night only as the rep wasn't back until the next day. We went for something to eat, when my hubby was nearly chocking on a piece of chicken that was 'off'. The food was cold, up edible and the restaurant was really dirty with bugs all over the place. We decided not to eat and went to the bar, where we found the area to filthy, not somewhere I intended on staying.

Next morning we met with out rep Danielle who managed to get us moved at a considerable cost to the Sandos Papagayo hotel, which was simply Paradise. When we added up that it would cost us around £100 per day to eat out for breakfast, lunch and dinner it worked out the same cost to move, at least this way we would be sleeping in clean rooms and get the holiday we thought we had booked.

If you are book Zoe planning to book the Paradise Island hotel, I would seriously consider changing it no matter the cost even though it has a water park, don't waste you money

Room Tip: Find another hotel, don't waste your money.

Arrived at hotel with partner and 2 grandchildren first impression looks good but when we saw our room the electric socket was hanging of the wall ,we found a sock and lid from suncream under the bed so cleaner didnt sweep or mop under beds ! The beds were so hard we both adults had sore backs every morning then we had to lie flat on sunbeds as they dont sit up so sore backs again we ended up sitting on chairs ,But the kids enjoyed the pool and waterpark and the entertainment team were good with kids ,,we were all inclusive and the food was ok i always found something to eat although it seemed to be the same all the time but this hotel is not 4 star ! more of a 3 ,we would have liked a change of something to do in the evening but it is in the middle of nowhere so it is taxi or walk into town about 30mins walk or free bus during the day ,would be better if there was a few bars or shops near hand as the football was on and we couldnt get a seat in bar ended up going back to room to watch it .we paid for a week but really only got 6 days as we left at 5.15 in the morning and they didnt even have drinks or tea for anyone before we went .this was our third time in lanzarote but first in playa Blanca wouldnt go back there. Also dont get wifi in rooms unless you pay 20 euro per item there was some in lobby bar but it was poor .

Room Tip: we were in room 101 it was quieter on this side but stank of the drains in the morning
