“Excellent service”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

We had stayed two years ago and returned in the hope the facilities and service would be as good as we had found them then. They were better!! The rooms and gardens had been improved and the staff were superb; very friendly, efficient and importantly quietly did there job. They were helpful but never"pushy", leaver us to ourselves. The way the pools and gardens are set out allowed us privacy even though the hotel was busy. We will certainly return in a few years time.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for a week in August. We arrived at 12 so had to wait till 3 for the room (not a big deal) however when we got there, reception staff did not explain anything to us e.g where the restaurant was , the safe and fridge options etc ... I actually found out some of these things on trip advisor!! Overall the reception staff were a let down. Another let down was the food (buffet restaurant), very bland and boring - breakfast was good , but lunch and dinners were poor ( I wouldn't recommend half or full board , maybe just breakfast!) ; the hotel is very close to a few lovely little restaurants (which are v cheap) and only a 15 minute walk to playa blanca , which also has a huge range of places to eat! I must say however, the staff in the buffet restaurant were great! Pools were lovely - yes cold, but only for the first few minutes , then you get use to it! Lovely modern room on ground floor and v close to pools and lifts (we had no problem being on the ground floor!). Wifi was poor but it didn't matter too much! Thomson reps were okay , nothing to rave about. Overall we would recommend - never been to Lanzarote before but the weather is lovely , hot with a breeze , so would definitely return!

I was pleasantly surprised by the H10 Timanfaya Palace. We stayed on Half Board and had a spacious room on the first floor with the added bonus of a seaview, which I wasn't expecting. The room was quiet which was something I had asked for. It was well equipped and the AC was flexible to achieve the right temperature. The bathroom was very spacious but perhaps a little dated in places. It had a great shower which makes up for a few rough edges here or there. The pool area, loungers etc were great.

The highlight was quite clearly the staff. The lion's share were very attentive, friendly and efficient. The restaurant food was adequate with a good choice. It does alas become a little 'samey' if you stay two weeks as it repeats on a weekly basis. I'd love to see hotels like the Timanfaya rotate on a 2 weekly basis which would provide more variation to those looking to stay a fortnight. This could also be said for the Entertainments. I spoke with a few other guests who like us would certainly return but more likely just for a week.

The hotel is well located for Playa Blanca, the shops and beach. Literally meters from the gate is the ocean. The seafront has a number of 'laddered' access points into the ocean. We snorkeled daily and were pleasantly surprised at what we saw. There were a myriad of fish in numbers and in a few quick visits I saw Octopus, Barracuda among other things.

The gym was well equipped and I made use of it daily. There was also a Sauna and Steam Room but with the weather so wonderful we had all the heat we needed.

i was a little disappointed with the tennis court. It needs to be re-thought because it is a little dangerous for tennis due to the obstructions on court. I know the hotel don't overly sell this feature but they could make more of the space? Perhaps a sand court for volleyball, beach tennis or beach soccer? Wi-fi worked well outside of Mike's Coffee and in certain areas near the pool but it was tricky in other areas. My only other disappointment was the lack of a good burger and a good Club Sandwich on the menu. I tried both but (I've tried a lot of them in my time..) and they were not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. How about a Timanfaya Burger? A showpiece offering? It would have been nice to have an evening bar meal offering somewhere and I feel we would have made us of it more. Perhaps a woodfired pizza offering at the pool bar too could be very popular.

The drinks were all very good and fairly priced. We mainly used the Piano Bar and Balcony. Alas you couldn't avoid the entertainment until you took your drinks elsewhere which made me think the Pool Bar could offer something different in the evenings but perhaps noise to the rooms could be an issue.

All in all a very comfortable and enjoyable stay with wonderful service throughout. I think the hotel will go from strength to strength and if they put a good burger on the menu and a great Club Sandwich (it needs chicken..) then we'll be back.

Room Tip: We had a Seaview Room a good distance from the Main Reception but with quick access to the pool. 152...

Dear RichClarkImages,

Thank you for your review.

One year ago we used to have the tennis court where we have now the indoor pool. As almost none used it, I thought that location for the pool.

Then I saw we had the football court, and none at all used it, I thought to paint the tennis court there. I'm sorry, We are not going to improve for the moment the tennis court, as it is a service that almost none use. Even If I find a better service I'll take it off. Sorry!.

Kind regards,

Top draw hotel. couldn't fault it. Room was spotless every time we returned from our excursions. Thomson staff were first class looking after our every need without being pushy. This being our first couples break was an exceptional experience one to be repeated for definite next year . The only criticism if any is that at Timanfaya Palace, for evening meal gentlemen have to wear long trousers which wasn't mentioned at booking. A slight oversight as it was only a coincidence that I packed long trousers, as wasn't going to.

Room Tip: Obviously one over looking the sea was a must for me, so be sure to ask as there are other rooms wi...

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks all inclusive package on the 25th August. This was our first visit to Lanzarote and indeed to any of the Canary Islands. We have stayed at a number of similar resorts over recent years on an all inclusive basis, so why was this one different. Firstly we were appreciative of earlier comments to upgrade the all inclusive to that of Privilege and this certainly didn't disappoint.

From the very first moment we arrived which was about 9pm after a slightly delayed flight, we were made to feel very special and the little extras as part of the Privilege package were a big plus for overall customer service. As Privilege guests, there was a separate check in area, with an excellent receptionist who spoke perfect English, so this procedure was painless, it was also accompanied by a very welcome drink.

So with first impressions already met, our room was as expected, very spacious and comfortable
with a wonderful sea view overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and with the neighbouring island of Fuertaventura in the distance. Free stocked mini bar and safe as part of being Privilege guests. We were still in time for dinner which was served until after 10 pm.

On entering the dining room we were approached by one of the staff who had a bubbly personality and she explained where the different areas were in the dining room and pointed out specifically the show cooking area where there was an extensive range of food. As other readers have said even the fussiest eaters would have had no difficulty in finding something to their liking. Everything was so wonderful and the desserts were amazing and different each night. The staff were very attentive and dirty plates weren't left too long on the table ready for us to start another course.

We visited the Kasbah al a carte restaurant and as privilege customers we could visit this more than once. They made us feel special and the food again was really good. Privilege customers also had a separate lounge where there were hot and cold drinks available and snacks, computer facilities, and the surroundings were lovely.

Pool area was great, there was a no reserving sun bed policy where if you reserved your sun beds and left them before 9.30am the life guard would take your towels away. As other people have commented other establishments would do well to follow this example.

Regarding the all inclusive package some people seem to think that this is the option to choose if you drink a lot of alcohol this isn't so as you are also getting an extra meal and various snacks if you want throughout the day and it includes all drinks whether alcoholic or soft drinks and this mounts up as the day goes on and you don't have to worry how much you are spending. The non-alcoholic cocktails were great. entertainment very good we saw an Ill Divo tribute act called illquattro from South Africa they were fantastic also saw some other acts which we're entertaining. these were held in the disco bar. The piano bar was very relaxing and there was either a guitarist singing or a piano player with a range of music to suit all.

The welcome meeting was very useful and interesting our reps were Lauren and Adam they gave a very informative meeting. We chose to go on the Lanzarote uncovered trip a wonderful trip for the whole day well worth doing. Also we went on a submarine safari this was a fantastic experience and again well worth doing.

All in all a great holiday, all expectations more than met our requirements, would definitely return.

Just returned from our holiday to Timanfaya Palace. Our first impression of our hotel was good. We were greeted with a glass of Cava and although we had missed dinner, they provided us with a prepared meal.

We were disappointed with our initial room as Thompson advertised the room as having a garden view with a balcony. We were the bottom floor and looking around, probably had the worst view in the hotel. We had a wall with a tree in front. However, when we queried this with the Thompson reps, they explained that a garden view room is basically any room without a sea view so it is pot luck which view you get. They did however move us on the next change over day and we had a much better view overlooking the volcano.

We went half board as we aren't huge drinkers and didn't spend half of what we would have spent if we went all inclusive. Everything is reasonably priced. We had a glass of house white, a bottle of beer and a still water with dinner which cost just under 6 euros. Cocktails are priced at 6 euros. If you want to change your dinner to lunch one day, you can, just go to reception. Lunch isn't expensive there either or you can choose to go down to the beach front.

The day time entertainment has been planned to appeal to different people. Yes they have a drinking competition but this is only held once a week I believe. They also have archery, shooting, aqua aerobics, mini golf, free scuba diving trials in the pool, sangria and mojito demonstrations and much more. You can choose what you want to do and the entertainment team aren't pushy. The activities don't interfere. The entertainments team are great with a good sense of humour. We thought Hector and Christina were particularly good. Evening entertainment was varied and we chose what we went to and what we didn't fancy. We liked the Beijing acrobats, the illusionist and enjoyed the Spanish pool party.

The food was excellent and the choice varied. Each night, there is a different theme but there is still plenty of choice for even the fussiest eaters. We didn't notice any preferential treatment and found the waiters to be very efficient at clearing the plates and serving drinks.

As other people have previously mentioned, we didn't agree with having to pay for the safe or the fridge. We did get the minibar instead of the fridge which is free if you buy 10 items. The cheapest being water and you pay less than you would for the fridge on its own.

Overall we had an excellent holiday. We also wanted to mention one of the waitresses, Angeleas, who we thought was not only great at her job, but had a good sense of humour to go with it. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Dear Nicki S,

Thank you for your review.

You picture is from a standar room first floor.

Some reviews comment they don't recommend the Zero floor. I personally prefer Zero floor, because they have a bigger garden and the room inside are better almost as good as the privileges.

My family and I stayed for a week in August 2014 and returned on the 24th. The whole experience was wonderful. Though we have visited Playa Blanca a number of times we chose this hotel due to the adult only requirement and the positive reviews from other former guests. To our surprise, on check-in we received a complimentary upgrade to a superior room and a double room both with beautiful sea (and sea & mountain) views. A bottle of red wine was in each room - which was a really nice touch. Check in was swift in the beautiful entrance and all information explained carefully. The rooms were spacious, very clean and nicely air conditionned: a powerful and refreshing shower too. Our only very small gripe were the pillows :) A fridge and safe were available with a small charge or deposit. The wifi was a little patchy, especially during the evenings. The hotel is set within a lovely location. The exterior key-accessed gate takes you to the promenade and a 15 to 20-minute walk to the harbour and shops/restaurants. The hotel staff were extremely friendly, attentive and helpful (Jaison was a delight in the restaurant and Naomi too in the pool bar). Hotel Management were often visible and spoke at length with the guests. We were always met by restaurant management as we arrived from breakfast and dinner. That gentleman are required to wear long trousers for dinner is something I fully support. The food was outstanding, often with theme nights (Italian, Mexican etc). You never felt rushed. There was plenty of variety and it was very obvious that the chefs took real pride in the preparation and presentation of the food to guests, that was fresh and of real quality. Our compliments to them too. The requirement that loungers not be reserved before 9.30am is something other hotels would do well to copy. Your towels will be removed prior to this time!! There were always loungers available - even after morning walks and there was sufficient shade should this be needed. The area around the pools was very peaceful and we often remained their until until 6.30/7.00 in the evening to sunbathe and swim. The pool bar offered a good menu, though a little limited if you are half board. Though a tad chilly first thing in the morning, the pools were very refreshing indeed and typically quiet which allowed relaxing swims and paddles. We particularly enjoyed the 'jacuzzi' pool. Though not entertainment fans, there was something on offer each evening. The two male guitarists were very good at pool side. The piano bar was also very relaxing and we recieved a complimentary cocktail on our first night. We were able to gain a complimentary courtesy room to shower and change on the afternoon of departure and our pick-up was on time. In sum, this was a lovely week and if you are looking for a relaxing break for adults/couples only - then look no further than this. You really notice the noisy hotels with children when you stroll along the promenade. We will be back....as soon as we can!!!

Gary
