“Great holiday but not 5 star and over priced”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014 via mobile

We have been a couple of times now and will go again. Great family hotel but service is not close to 5* and by extension the prices they charge are not backed up by the experience. We stayed in Royal Kiko suites and the promised extras were inconsistently delivered day to day, buffets are massively over-priced for small kids and therefore you don't have much variety of food in hotel. That said staff are v friendly and location, accommodation etc are great for families.

We stayed in a Royal Kiko suite for 12 nights. It had two bedrooms, one en-suite for us and one for the kids and another bathroom for the kids. A living area with sofa and chairs, dining table and small sort of kitchen hidden behind wooden doors. Room was immaculate and service twice a day. We were in what amounted to another hotel with buffet breakfast linked to the main hotel by a stylish underground walkway. Breakfast was excellent with a huge selection. We stayed B&B and ate at three of the a la carte restaurants , the Italian, Tapas & Japanase. All were fairly expensive considering the quality of food available elsewhere in Playa Blanca but the Teppenyaki cooking show at the Japanese restaurant is worth the money. My son attended the soccer school run by a couple of ex UK pros and have to say it was excellent. To some up, great hotel, really enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

Dear guest,

first of all we thank you for sharing your opinion with us. We really appreciate it.

We are so happy to see you had a great time in family at the Princesa Yaiza Hotel. Our facilities are totally adapted to make enjoy the little ones and, while, you can have time to chill out.

Regarding gastronomy, our kitchen team takes long time to get all the food ready on time and with the high quality of a homemade product. We encourage you to come back and book the half board basis in your next stay to enjoy our 3 thematic buffets, or the deluxe half board to enjoy all the restaurants for dinner, including a la carte restaurants of the hotel.

We are looking forward to see you in Lanzarote soon.

Best regards,

Went for 2 weeks, family of 5 with 18, 16 & 11 year old. Staff very friendly, breakfast and restaurants excellent food although buffet dinners very pricey! Stayed in Kiko suite which was a bit cramped for our needs. Definitely geared for young families with lots of activities but for older teenagers a bit too quiet.

Dear guest,

first of all we appreciate you have chosen our property to enjoy your holidays in family.

We really love to host families and we have room types for all of you, maybe the Royal Kiko Suites are designed and decorated for families with small children. We would recommend you to choose the connecting rooms for your next time, perfect for families with teenagers as they can have their own space sharing room with parents. Another great room option will be a dúplex. This rooms are located at the main building of the hotel, in which teenagers will be able to enjoy the animation at the mail pool área and all the sports activities at Kikoland.

We are so glad that you have shared your opinion and feedback with us. We are looking forward to suit your needs for next time you come to Hotel Princesa Yaiza, just contact us to prepare your next stay in Lanzarote.

Our family of 6 stayed at the Princesa Yaiza Hotel in mid-December last year and it was the highlight of a very unsuccessful trip to Lanzarote for some winter sun and visiting attractions. Due to a power cut at Gatwick Airport we arrived at the hotel five hours later than scheduled in pitch darkness. After travelling for almost 14 hours, we were welcomed with a glass of wine and some juice for the children - much needed. The check-in was relaxed and we were given an overview of the hotel. Our junior suite and double room were adjoining as requested and located on the 3rd Floor in Block C. The corridor to our room ends with a lovely open view of the sea.

Both rooms were very spacious and had a living space with a balcony facing the pool and 2 sun loungers – our view was not obstructed by palm trees and we could see the sea in the distant. A microwave, kettle and fridge were provided where we could store our groceries from the Dino Supermarket across the road. The bathroom had a double sink, a separate bath and shower. The bedroom was separate to the rest of the junior suite which meant the baby could have his mid-day nap without being disturbed. The bed was enormous and could easily fit 5 of us (no kidding!). A complimentary set of deluxe Johnson’s Baby products was provided with the cot and we found this a nice touch. There was a plenty of wardrobe space (stretched across an entire wall) and quality hangers. Similarly, the double twin room was also very large with open plan living space and bedroom.

Breakfast was included in our room rate and we enjoyed the buffet – great selection of pastries, cereal, hot food with eggs cooked to order, juices and fruit.

Day 1 – We visited to Kikoland en route to Playa Dorada but it was unexpectedly closed. We had hired a car and planned to visit Timanfaya National Park in the afternoon. The Concierge was very helpful in providing us with directions and a map. Unfortunately, only 20 minutes into our journey we had to return to the Hotel due to the strong winds and we felt it wasn’t safe to drive given the exposed road/motorways. Ventured to the outdoor swimming pools and Jacuzzi – it was deserted presumably as the water was too cold.

Day 2 – Overnight the Hotel posted a notice informing guests that a cyclone was heading to the island and an orange alert was in place. The forecast was unsettled for the next few days with heavy rain and sea storms – just our luck! Essentially, we were stranded in the hotel, the promenade had been cordoned off and it was too dangerous to drive anywhere. Fortunately, we saw an advert for the Children’s entertainment that evening and this turned out to be a life saver. The theme for the night was Cowboys and Indians and the kids had great fun playing games with the Kikoland staff who spoke in Spanish and then a translation in English. Being low season, there was only a dozen or so families there. After the children’s entertainment there was also something for the parents’ too – a magic show. This was excellent, very funny and interactive.

Day 3 – My sister and her partner decided to make use of a complimentary visit to the Hotel Spa offered as part of our booking. I would recommend this if you get the opportunity as they enjoyed their time and came back refreshed. The children’s entertainment this evening was a sing along with Kiko and his friends followed by a kid’s disco.

Day 4 – Again, we stayed in the Hotel due to the storm. That night’s entertainment included an Eagles show where there was an opportunity at the end to have a photo taken with an owl. We felt the photo was overpriced at 16 euros for a single shot which we were not shown a preview and digital print that was delivered to the Reception next day. This was followed by a trio of professional Flamenco dancers who performed various well-choreographed routines.

Day 5 – We visited the soft play room near the fish pond. It was large, well equipped with various slides, tunnels, foam toys and opened until noon. There was only 3 other kids in the soft play so our children had plenty of room to play in. They had a fab time and didn’t want to leave.

Highlights of the hotel:
- Free evening entertainment for Hotel guests and the amazing Kikoland staff who were so enthusiastic and great with the kids
- Spacious and comfortable rooms with grand interior landscape
- Helpful reception staff. They charged our ipads and printed off our boarding passes without hesitation

Improvements needed:
- As other reviewers have commented it is very difficult to get a wifi connection in the rooms and the connection times are extremely slow.

Thanks for reading this lengthy review but I hope it was of some help.

This is a beautiful hotel and with excellent service - we really enjoyed our stay. We travelled here with family and could not fault anything. There were quite a few families with young children and they were all catered for very well.

We celebrated our Pearl Wedding Anniversary in this hotel, and we couldn't have asked for more. The suites are excellent, the food/restaurants have a huge selection and again, excellent. The staff are first class! We were spoiled from arriving to departing, and felt like royalty. Already booked for next year and can't wait! Ok, the tariff is more expensive compared to hotels in the area, but worth every Euro!

We have just booked our 8th visit to the Princesa Yaiza! We started going as a couple, then we had Jack and now go as a family. Fantastic hotel in a fantastic location! How many visits will it take to get upgraded to the presidential suit? Lol
