“You get what you pay for!”
Reviewed 12 January 2014

we stayed here from 2nd - 9th Jan 2014. We were travelling as a family of 4 myself and husband with 4 and 6 year old boys. it was our first foreign holiday as a family and a much needed break.
On arriving at the hotel we were greeted by very helpful reception staff.
The reception area and pool area looked very nice and on arriving at our bungalow we were pleased with the size of it. It should be taken into account that this is a three star resort and for what you pay you get a good size accommodation. The bungalow was clean and tidy.
We arrived in-between meals and were disappointed at the food available from the poolside bar as they were small sandwiches wrapped in cling and left on the side with the mornings leftover Danish pastries.
Evening meals were varied but nothing kept to temperature and after a few nights I was desperate for something that was even warm let alone hot! The staff in the restaurant were friendly and efficient but it is a large complex and only one small restaurant so no service for drinks and no nice touches.
The animation team were fantastic and did what they could to make an atmosphere but at the end of the day the 'showroom' is just the corner of reception with uncomfortable low seating. A word of praise should also be given to the barman (only ever one) who always had a smile and was always very helpful.
waterpark was extremely well run and the food in there was cooked smaller batches so was much fresher.
Overall I would say we had a fantastic holiday, and that's the main reason for going! Personally I feel the Lansazur is just doing enough to be3 star and considered al inclusive and family 'resort' and I think that at busy times it would be like hell on earth. We did notice some AstroTurf being laid which made the pool area look nice, but I think investment in the pool bar would be money better spent - get a fridge unit for the sandwiches and maybe have the pizza on like at the water park.
The Wifi is definitely not worth paying for, there is a dated system of safety deposit boxes behind reception not in rooms and take towels for beach/sun loungers rather than pay to hire. But I am sure the sun and lovely promenade walks will make your holiday enjoyable. As I said in the title you get what you pay for - and we didn't pay much!!!

We flew to Lanzasur and Lanzarote on the 2nd Jan for my sisters Birthday - 20 of us, mixed ages. We arrived late, and they had left salad out for us, and drinks. The Bungalows are clean, modern, good quality beds, bath and shower. We had asked for bungalows close to each other and they accommodated our request.

The hotel, is clean and bright and a nice atmosphere (kids running wild is off putting, but that's the parents not the hotel and it does quieten down later) - the food is plentiful, well cooked and well presented, lots of salad, bread, soups, and a different menu each day, we had rice dishes, veal, steak, chicken, fish, chips, pizza, new potatoes, veg, pasta, you would really have to be looking to be awkward if you could not find something to eat. As always to adult evening entertainment was pretty poor, but we made our own fun - I liked that there was no limit on drinks, you could have as much as you wanted, we sat in the bar until late, and with a big group we were a little noisy laughing and having fun - but not one person told us to be quiet, as we were in the bar, as we were not disturbing other guests they just left us to have fun, and we really liked that.

The pool is lovely and the water park made our stay, we had a great time, the weather was awesome.

I asked them to arrange a cake for my sisters birthday, they did this (at a cost which was fair enough) they set the table, and lit candles - really nice touch thanks to Margarita in the restaurant, you were lovely and good luck with your wedding in October :). There were 20 of us on this holiday, teens, twenty's, thirties, forties, fifties, sixties & seventies - and every single one of us loved it, we all ate really well and the tight waste bands prove it - we all left happy and that takes some doing - well done lanzasur, ignore the moaners, they will always find something to moan about, your doing a good job and we will be back - thank you for an awesome holiday

Room Tip: 322 was our bungalow, our family had 324, 325 ,326 up to 340 and they were all nice and in a good sp...

We flew out on New years eve as a group of 4 adults 2 children, first impression of hotel was good we had inter connecting rooms not far from the pool (1115 & 1117).
The first evening i ran my son a bath and noticed loads of white bits floating in the water i was somewhat shocked to discover they had painted the bath with white emulsion!!! i picked this out every night we bathed or showered and left on side, the entire week it was not cleaned, there idea of cleaning is to make the bed and fold your towels, not once was the floor cleaned or sink in kitchen, Thomson stated its cleaned 5 times a week!!
The food is cold tasteless and horrible, i am not a fussy eater but we had to eat out for dinner one night as there was nothing any 6 of us liked the look of thats not right when on a AI holiday.
Entertainment was a complete joke you will be bored in the evening, one night there was a parrot show that started at 9pm and finished by 9.20pm that was your lot for the night.
The only saving grace for us was the water park which is clean and lovely and spaced out, food is nice here at lunch time, definately eat your lunch here, water is warmer than hotel pools which are freezing!!
Beach is beautiful and worth a visit and walking into town and round the harbour, you are a little way out but perfect for a stroll takes about 30 mins slow walking.
Lanzarote is lovely and already looking at booking up for same time next year but definately a different hotel, weather is lovely during the day but need a cardigan or jumper in the evenings.

My wife & I stayed at the Lanzasur Club in Playa Blanca, for a one week all-inclusive break, booked through First Choice/Thomson to relax in the sun over Christmas/New Year.
We were travelling with my sister-in-law & family, including two children aged 10 & 12.
We chose this hotel with the children as the main focus for facilities - the onsite water park being the main reason for booking this hotel.

First impressions.....We stopped at a few luxurious looking hotels on the way to our destination & were a little disappointed when we pulled up outside the Lanzasur Club.
It has no "kerb appeal" & looked a little tacky ..

Our check in was pretty painless, but then again, we were the only people checking in to this hotel from our flight.... We had asked for connecting rooms, but this detail seems to have been lost in translation & we had to make do with a room which was a few rows down.

The accommodation was very clean & quite roomy, with a nice sized bathroom & kitchen/seating area with flat screen tv.
The TV only has CNN in English, so bear this in mind if you can't be without it .

The pool area & surrounding grounds are kept very clean & tidy by the staff & they were always around, picking up any items of rubbish ...which can be a real task when the wind picks up.

There were always sunbeds available, but the towel wars are in evidence here & most of the prime spots are taken by the early risers.
The pools are clean but very cold & not heated, so need to be brave this time of year.
There is a pool bar which is the only place to get a drink once the restaurant closes.
Drinks flow freely - help yourself to beer & soft drinks, but low in alcohol, which is probably a good thing, all things considered.

There is only one restaurant at this hotel which is located in the main reception/entertainment/bar area... We are not fussy diners (quite happy with a McD's or Pizza Hut) & had read contrasting reviews about food quality here....
Breakfast looked like a mix of left-overs & an attempt at a traditional English ?
Never seen boiled carrots, brussell sprouts, chips & roast potatoes for breakfast before!
Only one toaster working properly, un-drinkable tea & coffee that tasted like hot chocolate...with a hint of coffee.....no fresh fruit juice....just cordial.
The bread & pastries were good & you could wait for a fried egg & beans, if the queue wasn't too long, so didn't starve.
We had lunch every day, at the water park, as this was of a much higher standard & always looked fresh.
Evening meals were, again, hit & miss & not very appealing.
We ate out for 3 nights & on the last night the food was so bad we brought pizza's back from a take away...pretty poor show.

Evening entertainment was, on the whole, pretty poor...bit like a throw back to the 70's.
Thankfully, the unlimited supply of alcohol highlighted the funny side of it & we had a good time anyway (apologies for the screeching during the parrot show).

Taking everything into account, it wasn't a bad holiday.....just not a good one..
The water park was the saving grace for this hotel, especially for the kids & an excellent addition to the all-inclusive package.

The staff are all friendly & work really hard & there is always something going on during the day to amuse the young ones.
Playa Blanca & the Marina are only a 30-40 minute stroll away & a lovely stroll to walk off all that beer & chips....
With a little effort & improvement to the food quality, this could be a good choice for a value break to the sun.
As it stands - If you have young children, don't want to fly too far, like chips, hot-dogs & unlimited fizzy drinks, beer & cheap spirits...this could be the one for you!

If not.....maybe pay a little more & stay somewhere else....

The water park is located at the back of the complex & is free to all-inclusive residents of the Lanzasur Club. The onsite restaurant is also included at no extra cost, between 12:30 & 2pm.

Room Tip: All rooms are pretty much the same.....Just remember to confirm with the hotel if you need connectin...

We stayed here December 1st for a week. Ignore any bad reports. This resort is perfect. Bungalows are great so is food. Staff very friendly. Cat our rep was the best rep we have ever met. There were plenty of FREE alcoholic drinks
Barman was brilliant always friendly. Yes there was only pne English channel on the tv but you're not there to watch tv there's plenty for the chikdren to do. Excursions were great. We will definitely go back. I would say to the people who wrote about there not being english bacon or sausages at breakfast that they need to get a life or stay in England

We booked through First Choice, wanted a splash resort for the first time. Reception staff very helpful. Bungalow was on the small side especially the living room there was a settee and a put me up bed. The bedroom was large and so was the bathroom which had a hairdryer as well on the wall.We were only there five minutes when my husband opened a cupboard door and the hinge broke, i went to unpack and the drawer front came of in my hand ,then i put the bedside light on and the whole of the light fitting fell off .The breakfast started at 8am-10am. Good selection but no English bacon or sausages. From 11am, from the pool bar they have drinks, sandwiches, and cakes( A i). The Aqua Larva waterpark was 10 out of 10. It opened at 10am if( A I) you can go to the self service and help yourself to drinks, no food, but at 12;30pm-2;30pm you can help your self to the food which was a better quality and better variety than the main restaurant . At 3pm you have to go back to the hotel pool bar to get an ice cream in small tubs this is till 5pm. Dinner is at 6pm we got there at this time most nights because the best food is put out first and if you leave it to long you have to wait and cue for a table. I would go back here for the Aqualarva but not for the hotel.

Room Tip: if you want a bungalow to be near the Aqua larva you have have a room number in the 900's the lo...

We went to the Lanzasur from 24th December till the 31 December 2013. Overall I can't fault the hotel, it's set back from the beach (5 mins walk away) and it it in a quieter part of the island. The thing that I didn't quite like was the fact there was only one English channel on the TV in the rooms. Although it was CNN the news doesn't change around the world that much every hour. As we had a 4 and a 5 year old i would have like to have seen a bit more Childrens TV available. My children loved Timiworld (the childrens club) and especially Estefi who they have a reald bond with so thank you to her and the rest of the team.
I loved the extra stuff laid on by the hotel for the kids especially on Christmas day when Santa arrived on a camel and gave sweets to EVERY child. The food was pleasant and plentiful and the choices of entertainement were good. Overall a very nice resort with a great waterpark which we all enjoyed. I'd definitely return.
