“Great family holiday”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

We loved it here and would defo come back!
Bungalows are great but no AC only a handful have AC so if you really want it email the hotel direct in advance.

Our bungalow was cleaned everyday except wed & sun, cleaners day off! No probs!

Reception and bar staff are over worked, only one on so big waits. Water park is great and you can use your bands for drinks and lunch.

Main restaurant, wonderful choice!! My only grumble that there is hot dogs every day for the kids so it make meal times a bit of an argument if you don't want them eating rubbish for two weeks.

The beach is just across the road but no loungers but really nice.

We booked the pirate trip via the rep, it's expensive but so glad we did it, it's fantastic!

If you have booked here and are now nervous about what you have read, you have no need!!! It's a lovely place with lots to do.
Enjoy your hols!! X

Dear customer, thank you very much for your comments on the Internet,
hope to see you next year with us.
On the subject of air-conditioned apartments really well but if you want to arrival and the hotel offers free apartment there is no problem to accommodate them in one of them (40 euros a week and 20 deposit).
You also have the possibility to rent fans (15 euros a week and 10 deposit).
Muchaas thanks.

Reviewed 18 July 2014 via mobile

We visited the Lanzasur Club 22 June - 6 July and like many reviewers felt apprehensive having read many bad reviews on here. We are a family of 4 with two boys aged 5 & 2.

First impressions were ok. We had dropped a few holiday makers off at 4* resorts which looked impressive so the entrance to the Lanzasur did not have the 'wow' factor in comparison. Check in was quick and easy although rooms are not ready until 3pm so we were directed to a room to drop off our luggage and grab some lunch whilst we waited.

The rooms: first impressions were good. We were in room 108 which was reasonably close to the restaurant/pool area but far enough away to not be disturbed by the evening entertainment (we requested a quiet room in advance). This was the opposite end to the waterpark but close to the back gate which was a shortcut to the beach (beware of the stench to the back of the resort, near the back gate...usually blown south by the wind but on stiller days it did creep into the resort). The rooms are a little 'cosy' but fine for the short amount of time spent in them. Plenty of storage, kitchen facilities, fridge etc and a tv with very limited channels (we took a portable dvd and cable so were able to run dvd's through the main tv). We hadn't pre-ordered a cot but asked for one on day 2 and it was there within the hour at no extra charge. Older sun slept fine on the sofa bed. Hairdryer in bathroom was pretty powerful (and I have long hair) so no need to take one with you. The main issue we had with the rooms was the cleanliness: towels were changed after 7 days but only because I left them in a heap by the door. Beds were made but only changed once and the floor was not mopped at all during our stay so towards the end, sandy feet became a bit of an issue. Kitchen surfaces were not wiped down and bathroom was not cleaned properly.

The food: this is one area where we were pleasantly surprised! The food is actually pretty good, plenty of choice, always hot and regular theme nights to keep things interesting. Plenty for the kids. There were some lovely cakes too. The staff work tirelessly and we never had to wait for a table. If you fancy a change of scenery, you can have lunch at the waterpark which makes a nice change and the food there is pretty tasty.

The waterpark: brilliant. This is the main redeeming feature of this resort. Its spotlessly clean, well staffed and a real fun alternative to the pool (which was often overcrowded). The childrens area is fantastic and my 2 slightly nervous swimmers were flying down the slides after a few days. It can get a bit windy in there which in turn can make it feel a bit cold but the kids didn't seem to mind. The adult slides are fab too but beware, the lifeguards are v.strict with height restrictions (we saw one family trying to argue with them to no avail) so best to steer clear with little ones to avoid disappointment.

The entertainment: hit&miss like with most of these places. The whole area could do with a face lift as looks a bit shabby and tired. We tended to avoid it and go for walks. The first night that we decided to give it a go, a fight nearly broke loose between two women at the front (not what I want my children witnessing) so we left, promptly. The mini disco is fun for the kids though and the animacion team are always so enthusiastic despite doing the same routine every night. Good choice of drinks at the bar and they are ok and barman is funny.

Pool/games room/shop: Again, could all do with a bit of a cash injection as looking a bit tired. The park is a danger zone and needs to be ripped out. The shop is ok and not too badly priced, we mainly bought water here as not really included in the AI.

Lanzarote / Playa Blanca: really lovely island / resort although always windy. The Flamingo beach close to the hotel is just lovely, beautiful soft sand, clear, shallow water and lots of fish to keep the kids amused. We spent alot of time there. There is a lovely promenade that stems the length of the resort so some really lovely walks. Plenty of shops/bars in the main town too.

We hired a car for 2 days and toured the island. Definitely recommend Timanfaya national park/volcano tour, spectacular scenery and a real insight into the history of the island. It only cost 22 euros for the 4 of us. We visited Teguise then travelled north to the viewing point 'Mirador del Rio' which was stunning (overlooking the island of La Graciosa). The roads are excellent and uncrowded so would recommend this if bored with pool/beach.

We also visited the Papagayo beaches which are beautiful but very exposed & hot with little ones as very little shade and no facilities, glad we can say we went though.

We also took a trip on the yellow 'submarine' type boat from playa blanca harbour which was ok (30 euros for 4), best avoided if you suffer with sea sickness though or have kids with short attention spans!

Overall, we had a really lovely holiday in Lanzarote. The First Choice reps were friendly and helpful although they don't seem to have as much of a presence as Thomson reps have at other resorts we've stayed at. The hotel staff were also friendly and worked very long hours.

We would definitely return to Lanzarote / Playa Blanca but maybe not to the Lanzasur. It felt a bit like Butlins in the sun, which is fine but it wasn't particularly cheap so we expected slightly higher standards. The waterpark is fab but I think next time, we'd splash the extra cash and book into the Flamingo Holiday Village next door which looks like it's been totally gutted and renovated. Maybe the Thomson group should consider doing the same next door!

Sorry for such a long review but hope this helps.

Just back from this resort and I was sort of panicking before we went in reading some of the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised we left and our wee ones were crying that they had to leave. To start yes the rooms are good, you are on holiday and we had a good one and were only in the room to sleep, in saying that lots of people relaxed at their bungalows, these were in a block of four , two at the front and two at the back., some had sun loungers we were in 518 and it was next to the road but funny enough there was no great road noise and pretty private too. First week we had no sun lounger so we borrowed next door's when they left. If you are going to arrive at night it can be a bit dark if you are unsure of where the room is so just ask the people around you they will always help.
Food mostly good as you will find most places they don't get it right all the time and will see the odd vege on the breakfast tray but hey it is Europe so every one has their own tastes. Loads of fresh bread, pancakes, croissants, bread for toast, chocolate spread or I think it was honey, fresh fruit and those who like their fry try the "white sausage" it is near enough the same as home. If you like your tea take your own cup we took travel mugs and just filled up, far better.
Lunch you could eat in Aqua lava from 12.30 to 2.30 also. this was good too real French fries and wee ones loved it. There are height restrictions but ours both didn't meet height requirements and did get on the slides they wanted no problems so don't worry. Deck chairs everywhere plentiful in aqualava too.
Some days we couldn't get sun beds as people put towels down before 8am but tell reception and this will get sorted, they just keep an eye on unused beds and lift the towels, problem sorted. All sunbeds were scrubbed clean this week and the ground was hosed down too. The cleaners were washing down doors and tables too so that was good, main point here, the place would be a lot cleaner if the people using this hotel were not as lazy and dirty, the people seem to stick to the certain same areas every day and wouldn't lift a cup after them lets hope they didn't do the same at the beach.
Beach is a five minute walk away and really great, you can buy the wee fishing nets in the supermarket down there, take bread with you and feed the fish you will have hundreds of fish around you, kids loved it.
The supermarket sells the lie lows but these are blown around the place and just check the left behind box beside the gym before you buy anything you will find loads of buckets and spades here too.
Watch the safe and make sure you close it tight, we didn't and were lucky nothing was missing, just double check it.
The professional shows are not very good but the best night we had was the miss Lanzasur this was hilarious and more games like this with guest interaction is always the best entertainment. Think the professional shows are very dated the magic show with the wee dog was good though.
My girls were aged 10 and 12 and loved it. Animation team were great, all staff work very hard, Miguel does the bar mostly on his own with one glass collector and seriously people there is a tip box there wise up and dig in to your pockets, this is not a wealthy country.
Two weeks for me was over in a flash, met lovely people, had a very relaxed time and would defs go back,,on check out day just let us stay til at least twelve o' clock not ten am!!!!!

Room Tip: The rooms were all good, take paracetamol and stuff with you as supermarkets don't sell these an...

One comment that our lifeguard first thing to get to the pool is to remove all those towels which are placed in the hammocks and no one in them.
Thank you very much and best regards.

Had a 2 week holiday here, 1st 2 weeks of July, we are a family of 4, 2 adults 7 and 5 year old, we had a great holiday lovely food plenty of choice to suit everyone, I thought we would eat out more often but there was no reason to, plenty of fresh food time cater for everyone, the only night I didn't like was the oriental night, thought the food was very dry, our children didn't use the kids clubs so can't comment but all the entertainers were working very hard as the staff in the restaurant, the shows weren't the best I've seen in hotels but they were still ok, pool area shabby in the evenings not cleaned till the morning but that is more to lazy people not using the bins, overall we enjoyed it, the water park was fabulous, well supervised with loads of chairs, sunbeds were a problem at the hotel pool like every other resort,no sunbeds after 10, but again not a fault of hotel, it's every hotel I have to. We had a lovely time.

The first thing I noticed when we arrived was how clean the whole place was, also the bungalow smelt lemony when you first opened the door. Plenty of choice of food, nothing wrong with it, I didn't get an upset stomach neither did the children. Burgers and bacon are not like what we have, tasted different. Entertainment is not Butlins, I mean Butlins entertainment is better, but at the end of the day, we are in a different country and they do things different to us, so enjoy a drink. There is a fridge in the bungalow so you can fill up an empty bottle with the water from the dispensers and put it in there overnight. Humid at night. Geckoes walk about around the bungalows. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, excursions were great, especially the Lanzarote uncovered, where you go round the whole island and volcano. As for the sunbeds, I did really want to chuck everyone's towels into the swimming pools on our last day, lol, but we did get the sunbeds ok about 10am ish.
You have to tell reception if you want your towels or sheets changed by cleaners. It is worth the money as it is a 3 star place, and it was lovely to have a palm tree by the bungalow.

We visited here in summer 2013 and couldn't wait to go back.Saddened and disappointed to discover how much the standards have dropped. Don't know how a hotel can deteriorate to such an awful standard in the space of a year.
The food is awful, often inedible , that's if you can find something you want to eat. My husband had an upset stomach for 6 days after eating here. We ended up eating out a lot. The service in the restaurant is shocking in comparison to last year. Last year as soon as you had finished, the plates were whisked away. Not the case this year. Dirty plates were left, I ended up having to move our 4 plates onto another table to allow us to eat our next course. Quite often i ended up setting our own table for our meal. The staff were not friendly didn't even acknowledge you, in fact if they had smiled I think their faces would have cracked.
The entertainment team last year were amazing. Can't say the same about this year. only one of the team made any effort, the rest of them had about as much charisma as a plank of wood. Not what you expect from a team who are supposed to be entertaining you.
The domestic team were shocking and on one occasion verbally abusive. The bungalow was not swept while we were there, I know this because there was stuff on the floor when we arrived and it was still there when we left.

The only saving grace of this holiday was the aqualava waterpark. The staff are amazing ,very friendly and helpful. The food at lunchtime is better here than in the hotel restaurant. There is plenty to do and kept my two boys happy the whole holiday.

Forget trying to obtain a sunbed at the pool unless you are willing to get up before 7am on your holiday as if you go any later you have no chance of getting one. we actually saw people putting their towels out at 11pm for the following day. There is a sign up saying sunbeds cannot be reserved before 9am or towels will be removed, but this rule is not adhered to.
i did not speak to one person who was happy whilst we were there. The main comlaints were the same as ours and a lot of people ended up eating out.
take plenty of spending money as you'll need it to eat out

i was here with my partner for 2 weeks from 30 June to 14 July. I was very disappointed u have to pay for water not included in the all inclusive although they were water dispensers they were hot water not even cold the one in the restaurtant and lobby. The soft drinks were watered down werent the real stuff. Food was average same thing everyday nothing exciting infact we ended eating out half the time as it was very poor. The restaurant itself was never set out if it was it was for 3 only dishes werent taken away they would sit on the table for a while pretty poor. We were constantly complaining. The maids were meant to be in 5 times a week crap lucky twice and infact our bathroom was never touched. Towels were changed twice a week and if u wanted to change them they charged but we did report it and they did gave us towels. the rooms were very cramped not much space and only one wardrobe for 4. Our towels were never collected we ended up taking them to the reception. there was not snack bar and late snack bar until the last 3 days of holiday. there is no air condition you had to pay for that infact everything u had to pay for. One of the worst thing for me is someone a child done a poo in pool they closed it off to get it out but didnt seem to sterlise it my kids did not go back in that pool after that. The entertainment team were ok more of the 2nd week there was more activites but could have been slightly better. There is probably so much more I could say but i think after that u know how i feel. Def should not be a 3 star.

Room Tip: u dont get one unless u pay for a joining one

Dear Guest, first of all I would like to apologize for not having exceeded their expectations.
Below I would like to clarify several points about his opinion:
If it is true that the hotel does not provide bottled water in AI since we have water machines at all points of sales from 08.00 to 24.00.
The cleaning is 5 days a week and changes 2, but if you require some more changes, you just have to go to reception and is provided (no charge).
The buffett restaurant service is always composed of a variety of meats, fish, pasta, vegetables and a selection of assorted desserts (ice cream, cakes, pastries).
Thank you very much for your feedback and we always try to learn from them to improve.
A greeting.
