“Nice hotel great location”
Reviewed 29 August 2014 via mobile

Just returned from our summer holiday with a 3 year old and 9 year old. Hotel in general is nice, it's clean and lots going on. The food is average and the rooms are clean but it's unfortunate the children's beds are in the living room near the patio door. The no air conditioning is a let down but the fans did there job to cool us down and after 4 am it's cool anyway. We went out at night to playa blanca lovely town with great bars and the beach is nice too. We didn't bother with the night entertainment as it was in door and you had to reserve a seat early evening. We usually go to the holiday villages but decided a cheaper option to be honest I wasn't disappointed the kids loved it and all in all it was a lovely family holiday :-)

Having stayed at the Lanzasur last year I knew what to expect. It’s a good hotel with reasonable facilities and certainly found it good for families. There are however certain areas which could be improved.

The big issue for us was the Kid Club which runs for Kids 4-6 years 7-12 years and 13 – 17 years. The age gap of 7 to 12 is ridiculous. A suitable activity for a 12 year old is not necessarily suitable for a 7 year old. Many of the water activities for example took place in the main pool which is far too deep for an average 7 year old it goes from 0.8m to 1.4m in a matter of a couple of steps. We found our 7 year old excluded from participating in these activities which was a major drawback.

The food is OK (It does get a bit bland after a few days) and you could find something to eat each day. However almost meat every dish was prepared in sauces without any indication as to what it contained. My wife needs to eat plainly and found it annoying that food she would love to eat were cooked sauces. Why not cook the meat and let the individual decide if they want to add a sauce?

Overall the apartments are perfectly fine but it would be nice if the hotel let you know in advance as to what days cleaning would not take place.
We will be returning to Playa Blanca next year but for the reason of the kids club I won’t be returning to the Lanzasur.

Dear guest,
We thank you for your time in your review.
We are sorry to see that you have had a bad experience in you holiday with one of your childs.
I´m afraid that after checking all medical reports during August month we haven´t had just two families reporting having any digestive problem.
This might be caused for many things, including the high temperatures that we have in summer season.
Regarding the pool areas, our personnel does the cleaning of the pools first time in the morning, so only few people see it. During the day there is also a person that goes around the pool area to empty the bins and check for free sunbeds as well.
Also we would like that anyone knows that regularly the water in all areas is checked by external laboratory and all controls has been passed succesfully.
We wants to tell you once again how sorry we feel because of your child health and we hope that even though you have decided no to come back to our place you can enjoy the island once again with your family.

This was not our usual type of holiday being in our 50s,and more used to more laid back relaxed type of setting, however we planned this holiday at the Lanzasur club,as we were going with our son ,his partner, and our 3 grandchildren aged 8,5 and 2.firstly the hotel complex itself was very clean and well laid out,our room 1014 was centrally located within close proximity to all amenities, including being literally a 1 minute walk to aqua park, which was included in our package.Check in was very quick, though we did have a little trouble finding our room, though cleaning staff helpful in pointing us in the right direction, rooms were very well equipped for an all inclusive holiday, with fully equipped kitchen with coffee machine, microwave, and everything you would need if you wanted to cook something, though i did not see the point of this(being an all inclusive package)but handy having a fridge to keep drinks cold, the only downside was there was no air conditioning, and as we were staying in the middle of August this was needed,as rooms were uncomfortably hot and made sleeping challenging, though temperature dropped a little at night, and was largely breezy throughout,we were able to leave the window open to get air into the room.sunbeds were very difficult to get, needed to set alarm for 7.30am to go down and reserve beds, otherwise by 8am there was no chance of getting one, there was clearly not enough beds for everyone, and we actually counted them(236)with approx over 400 guests staying at the time.

FOOD.i always believe that this is a subjective issue,as there will always be people who will complain about the food wherever they go,but i can say that yes there were some occasions when the choices were limited and even some repetiveness, though i can honestly say that on the whole we were able to find something to eat,and did not go hungry, nor did i witness any malnourished people walking around(ha ha)i found the food to be of a good standard and was always hot,the food at the aqua park was very nice, with good choice of food, from salads, burgers, hot dogs, and occasional days where there would be BBQ food which was also very nice.

AQUAPARK.this was great fun, with large slides/tubes for adults and kids who met the minimum height,my 8 year old grandson spent the whole of his first day on them, even i dared to go on and had a laugh,i recommend the aqua bowl which is not for the faint hearted and the aqua hole, which you go on inflatable rings/twin or single, this is absolutely pitch black from start to finnish with twists and turns, after a few rides you do get used to them, and are not as scary, for the younger grandchildren, there was the splash pool with slides, tipping bucket and lots of water everywhere, the lazy river, and wave pool were also good.Lifeguards were always vigilant at the waterpark keeping everyone safe, and alerting people who were in breach of the rules by whistling at them and making them abide to safety regulations, however there was no lifeguards at the main hotel pools, that was until there was an incident when a young child was brought from the bottom of one of the pools, and needed CPR and was taken to hospital, thankfully he was ok,and returned to the hotel the same day, after that there was a lifeguard present all the time.

ENTERTAINMENT.the animation team here were brilliant, providing activities during the day for adults and children alike, and in the evening they would put on shows such as WE WILL ROCK YOU,which was brilliant, there were other live entertainers such as magicians, singers and circus perfomers, and i have to say this was the best entertainment i have seen at a hotel.

There is WiFi in certain parts of the hotel which is free, however connection speeds were poor, and often difficult to maintain a connection, usually better late at night or early morning.

To summerise i would have given this hotel a better score, however the lack of air conditioning(even in public areas)and the mad scramble for sunbeds, led me to giving this an average score,i would still recommend this hotel for families,as it is a nice place to stay,i personally will not likely return as this was our family holiday, and will be returning to our usual boring laid back couples holiday next year,we are already booked for Mexico,so watch this space for that review.

Room Tip: rooms from 600 -1100 are central to all amenities.

Overall this hotel is abysmal; avoid it.
The main issue about this hotel is there acceptance to have NO lifeguard provision for the 3 swimming pools within the hotel complex (this is not including the joined on AquaLava splash pool which HAS active lifeguards) The hotel have a man wearing a 'SOS Lifeguard' T-Shirt that walks around the site doing maintenance jobs, fixing this & that, moving sun loungers etc - not observing the activities within the pool; and the allowance for children to run around the pool, backflips into the pool, drinking from glasses by the pool etc. This was highlighted when a 7yr Irish boy drowned in the pool on our 2nd day. Thankfully a teenage boy noticed the little boy in distress and called for help, where the lifeguard eventually assisted. Out of respect to the family involved I won't go into details but overall the hotel were slow to respond.
Then unfortunately, another incident on our 5th day, a little boy cracked his head in the pool.
Admittedly the hotel have a sign up notifying that there is no lifeguard; so why pretend and have the maintenance guy wear a lifeguard shirt?! Why not notify guests upon arrival at reception that no lifeguards are at the pool?
We raised the issue through our First Choice rep's (another awful story with their attitude) who first said there is 3 lifeguards at the pool, even when they couldn't answer why there wasn't any on duty at the time, then retracted the comment when speaking to the Hotel Manager (this proves to us that First Choice do not manage incidents well and allow incompetent reps within their hotels)
Apparently its not a requirement in Spanish Law to have lifeguards at swimming pools. So obviously the hotel management do not take guests safety and welfare as a priority.
Other bad points about this hotel include: No Air Con in the bedrooms, unless you pay 40euros a week (you could hire fans at 15euros a week)
Ants in the bungalow, no safe within the rooms (a safety deposit box is available within a communal room), bland & basic all inclusive food and drinks... Need I go on!

On a positive note, the entertainment team work hard to try and please all the guests (including doing the horrendous chocolata song 4 times a day!!) most of the kids entertainment is geared for Germans which isn't helpful for all.

Its shocking that First Choice are happy to promote and use this hotel!

I thought not to write a comment on Trip Advisor as our stay in Lanzasur was within normal limits, without any complaints and nothing extraordinary perfect. But reading other reviews from guests who stayed at the same time as us, I decided to write.

Well we stayed my husband and 2 kids aged 6 and 8 years from 07 to 21 August, and the resort exceeded our expectations and we were aware that we were going to a 3 *

Very clean bungalow, changed the towels and sheets as we had written on paper and is environmentally clean, do not use water but a mop with disinfectant. Like the common areas are also clean, with enough bins.

FOOD: We were surprised that there was a themed menu each night¡¡ do not have this in a 5 * hotel, very tasty food and variety.- Breakfasts is generous with pancakes on the show cooking and lunch each day you find rich pizzas, chicken, fish and variety in the main salads, t if you want to eat in the water park, with a rich buffet from 12.30 to 14.30.

POOL BAR: It serves one person, she is very diligent with her work covering all the customers without having to wait more than a minute. There you can also eat hot dogs, sanwiches, pastries, etc. It is open from 10.0 0 am to 18 pm

LOBBY BAR: served by a waiter and someone who also collects empty glasses, always find something to drink and no need to wait for the waiter, you can help yourself to the machines.

POOLS: There are 2 large pools and a smaller one for children. Every day you can see the staff cleaning early so everything is clean, also clean the deck and so no one can reserve them, if you want a hammock have to wait to be clean at 9 am.

RECEPTION: When we were a group of about 30 people, the reception was pretty quick, got written information, which I appreciate because we could read it every time I needed to ask something ..

ANIMATION: all the animation team work hard every day, there are always activities for all ages, but they have to improve the night show.

RESTAURANT. The Rte is very clean but not large enough for all the customers to eat at the same time, so it has a broad schedule of 18-21 hours so people can find a clean table, waiters work quickly to clean the tables so people do not have to wait more than 5 minutes to sit down to eat. And yes there is air conditioning in the Rte, at all times and is very comfortable, there are tables set up with your tablecloth on the terrace and you can eat there if you want.-

You also have the ability to benefit from services that are not of a 3 * hotel, but if you can afford them, such as an apartment with air conditioning, or drink brand and some things more.-

WATER PARK. It was fantastic, with its lazy river, the wave pool and water slides, children and adults enjoy themselves & Quiet

Finally I can say is the best holiday we have ever had and would recommend. We will definitely return

When booking this holiday a year ago the reviews were great , but by the time our holiday was due reading the recent reviews I was thinking have I made a mistake , well I had no need to worry, we a family of 5 , children 12 and 7 and also took my mum with us have had a fantastic time here, some of the reviews are not fair at all , yes you do need to get down to the pool around 7.30 if you want a sunbed , just wait until lifeguard cleans then put towel down otherwise it is removed , food was fine , something to eat everyday , didn't need to eat out, water park was great , food a little better there, some things are not included in all inclusive (slush puppies) that was fine by me as not sure I would want my kids drinking them all day , great games for kids and adults , have to say how great the animation team are with the kids , mini disco was brilliant each night , Joey has lots of energy :) the only fair comment I have read is the cleaning of apartments , it does need improving , the floor was not swept since our arrival , we did have a small problem with ants , and towels were not changed , even though we left them on bathroom floor , would defiantly return to hotel :)
