We stayed for a night on the way to the ferry in Santander. First, the positives: it was cheap, right in the city centre and clean. It also accepted our two border collies without any problem. There was also a small balcony.
The room was small, and had very tired decor and furnishings. The TV was tiny, and there wasn't any air con. The bathroom was tiny, and had a little sit-down bath that I would have had a lot of trouble fitting into at all. The shower fitted above worked OK, but the step/seat in the bath left hardly any room to stand.
Being in the city centre, there are plenty of bars and restaurants around for dining during the day and in the evening. There are a couple of very nice ice-cream shops close by!
Breakfast was included in the €45 price - good value, but the worst breakfast I have ever had! Coffee & tea were available, but the food items consisted of pre-packed biscuits and long-life cakes. There were no meats, cheese or fruits, which are usually available in hotels in Spain.
There is very limited parking in an underground garage, and it was all gone by the time we checked in. However, there was a paid car park outside the FEVE station opposite the hotel that was reasonable and had a 24 hour attendant, so security was better than parking on-street somewhere.
In short, this hotel is functional, clean and fine for a overnight stop. Don't expect any degree of luxury, though.
