We went to this restaurant for lunch after our hotel recommended it for its paella. We sat outside watching the people walk by on a grey, cloudy day in Tamariu. The service was nice and our host very friendly. We tried a couple of tapas dishes and then got a paella marinara. It was my girlfriend's first experience of paella and she enjoyed it, but I thought it was just ok. We ended up having a lovely lobster paella elsewhere in our trip and now I know what paella is meant to taste like! So nice place to sit down and have lunch- I would probably try something else next time.

Having walked out of the Rodondo because no one came to our table in twenty minutes, we lit upon this place - well spoken of in other reviews.

At least someone came immediately to our table and gave us menus, bread and olives. Then, after some time, the lad at the bar came for our drink order, and within five minutes or so, reappeared with the selected bottle. Our request for a "jug of tap water" was not understood - and when, eventually, a girl arrived to deal with this (apparently) bizarre request, she said that it wasn't possible because "tap water no good".

Our orders were taken and we sat and waited. I suppose we should have been put on our guard when two of the people at the adjoining table sent back their plates because the food wasn't cooked. They also complained that they had some food which they had not ordered, but were missing some vegetables which they had! Then the other nearby table had two of the three diners walk out.

The food came. My wife's dish of dried cod was excellent. My monkfish was not cooked. I indicated this to yet another girl who took it away and agreed - immediately - that there would be no charge. Oddly, the accompanying potatoes were very good indeed.

Meanwhile, the bar lad almost managed to smash a bottle at the next table. Another boy at the bar dealt with two loads of dish-washing - emptying each time as though he was a competitor in a glass and china smashing competition. And, of course, because this is Spain, the wooden chairs scraped dreadfully on the tiled floor every time anyone moved.

Perhaps it was just a ghastly night for them - perhaps the cook went mad or didn't turn up. When five people out of nine have uncooked food - something is wrong, and they knew it. If only they had warned the public that just steak and chips or mussels would have been on offer.

The young team were friendly but out of their depth. A great shame. To their credit, there was not a second's argument about not charging for my raw fish. And they have an excellent - and very moderately priced - list of local wine. If nothing else, it was good entertainment, but not really what one looks for on a holiday night out.

Ok seating, Prompt initial service then it ran on Caribbean time if that's possible.
Menu ok ish. Limited wine/beer on the menu we saw.
First served bread & olives. I thought, wow, nice Spanish touch til I saw the bill at the end, we were charged for them.
Grrrrrr!!!
Rosé good, chicken salty AND bland & beef burger was just that, pattie minus bun! Came with a side salad (leaves, shredded carrot, few peppers, tiny pieces of onion and 1 cherry tomatoe each!!!!) and about 10 French fries. Did fill us but well meh...
Was alright, filled a hole but won't be back. Lacked a certain something...

The location is perfect as you are on the corner of the bay and can see all around Tamariu. The staff are friendly enough but the real selling point is the food, even the burger was absolutely delicious and our son had perhaps the best spag bol we have ever tasted. We were never bothered to move on and enjoyed the afternoon thoroughly, all for a bargain 40 euros. Very nice indeed.
