The hotel and staff were lovely, and it was quiet at night, but we booked this hotel with the view to going into Barcelona each day, and its distance from the city made for a rather tiring holiday!

If you go choose to stay there, you'll need to catch 2 buses or trains from the airport, and then to get to Barcelona takes approx 50 mins to an hour by bus.
These buses only run until 11pm, and thereafter its night buses, which took over 2 hours to get us home!!

Travelling with my parents, uncle and aunt, husband and 2 year old daughter Hotel Canal Olimpic was our first stop after travelling for 24 hours on flights from New Zealand.

My husband, daughter and I had a nice room with two bedrooms, tasteful decor and clean bathroom.

We did arrive early and while my aunt and uncle were able to check into their room my parents and I had to wait until 3pm for our rooms to be ready as the check out time was later than hotels we were used to.

We spent most of the day by/in the pool, snoozing and using the free wireless.

We had the 10 euro set menu lunch, we enjoyed our meal very much as we travel to Spain often and enjoyed guspacho, salad and mains.

Breakfast was great with extensive options and I totally gorged myself before we had our drive down to Valencia.

For us the beach was a short walk away, but that can differ to others. Around 7 minutes away.

Recently rennovated, making it comfortable and clean. Next to the tennis club and Olympic canal - for water sports, small golf range and running/walking. Very quiet location. 20 mins walk to station with frequent trains into Barcelona (25min) and connections to the airport. Also the shopping mall called Anec Blau is about same distance. The beach is a 20 mins walk. Very good buffet breakfast, served in very pleasant restaurant. TV has a dual switch on the zapper (I/II) to change into orginal language. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Car parking available. Only disappointment was lack of Wi-Fi which was only available in reception area and that was unreliable.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this modern hotel and loved it. It was clean and the staff were friendly. The breakfasts were slightly over priced so I would advise eating somewhere other than the hotel. Some people are complaining that the hotel is far from the centre but the hotel clearly states it's located in the outskirts, it's much better to be away from the noise of Barcelona during the night, and it's easy to take a bus!

Just returned from budget weekend in Barcelona and booked this hotel primarily for the price. While in itself, it does exactly what it says on the box - 3 star, comfortable, mod cons etc, it is quite a distance from the centre of Castelldefels. A short cab ride (approx 7-8 euros) will however get you to the train station. From there you can get to Barcelona and beyond and truly sample the delights of Catalonia.

If you do decide to use public transport, a T-10 ticket is probably the way to go. For 7.95 euros, this gives you 10 journeys on trains, metros & buses within zone 1. Great purchase that lasted us the entire weekend.

Hotel food is not great. Very basic and not particularly well presented. The hotel bar is only open till 10.30pm - dont expect raucous nights.

Overall, its a decent enough hotel (my restaurant experience would be the exception), maybe just be a little far out for what was a flying visit to a great city. As other reviewers have mentioned, the trains back out of Barcelona stop before midnight so unless a taxi back to the hotel is an option, then its early-(ish) nights for you if you decide to stay here.

I've said that I wouldnt recommend this hotel to a friend. If they were looking for a place where they could relax and do not much else, then maybe I would. In all honesty though, if you're heading to Barcelona, you're heading there for a reason...and thats to see whats out there. By the time you've got to this place - especially if you've walked it, you haven't got the energy to go and see whats out there!

this hotel is very clean and the rooms very pleasant. the problems are the noise from other rooms, tiled floors mean women with heels make a terrible noise above you and you can hear everything from next door rooms. also dogs bark on and off most nights and very early in the morning, every day, the large bins are collected from the street outside and as the windows let in all the noise sleeping at this hotel was difficult, meaning every day we were very tired. the location is more or less in the middle of nowhere too, theres a beach in castelldefels but thats about it!

This hotel is too far away from the train station and there is no bus service that will drop you off near the hotel. The food is buffet style and always on the cold side. I found hairs in the chips on the first night. The room was comfortable and clean though the noise from the street outside was terrible. Also (on some days) the airplanes going to Barcelona airport fly overhead and make a terrible noise. In the surrounding area there is dog mess everywhere and you have to be careful where you walk. Even in the main town of Casteldefells there was dog mess. The room was cleaned daily and was fine. The bathroom was okay. Hotel staff was surly and not very chatty, though very helpful if you asked them for something. The pool was in shade most of the day.
