After a very busy and exhausting boat trip, we stayed in this quiet and cute little coastal Village. the hotel is nicely located on a very organised and clean beach with lot of activities. The hotel looks old and a little bit worn. The inside of the hotel is quite modern, clean and spacious.

The rooms and the balconies and beds are huge. The bathrooms are exceptional, with regards to space and luxury.

The swimming pool is well kept and very close to the beach. The spaces in the front of the hotel that is not accessable to residents is a bit weird. Amenities for guests there to eat and drink would add value. There are many beautiful and quite reasonable priced restaurants and bars close to the hotel. Shops are also close to the hotel.

We enjoyed a very nice stay there.

Room Tip: Suites facing the sea with large balconies really beautiful

Upon arrival at the Hotel Playafels I was disappointed to find that our room wasn't even in the main hotel but in the apartments about 20 metres down the road. However, this turned out to be a very good thing as having 2 rooms gave ourselves and our 2 children, aged 5 and 9, more space than a hotel room and the small kitchenette was very useful when making snacks and using the fridge for drinks. The bathroom was large with double basins. The room was clean but not spotless. Breakfast is a buffet with a good variety of juices, fruit, cereals, cold meats, bacon, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, sausages and breads/rolls. There are enough choices to keep everyone happy. The sea view at breakfast is lovely its a shame the hotel doesnt have an outside terrace to eat on. The pool area is very safe and secluded, it feels like you are in a private garden rather than a hotel. The beach is beautiful, clean, family friendly and though busy never feels over crowded. Its shame the hotel doesnt have its own section of beach where sun loungers are provided for free rather than at €5 each per day. All the staff in the hotel are friendly and speak English. The receptionist called Maite is especially helpful. From 4pm onwards you can help yourself to hot/cold/alcoholic drinks from the bar area - a really nice touch from the hotel. This hotel is small, perfectly located in a beautiful area. The reason it hasn't got a 5 star review is because the decor is very dated, the apartments could be cleaner, it doesn't have a fitness suite and there are no facilities for serving food other than at breakfast. With a little bit of TLC this little hotel could really be the best in Castelldefels.

Dear guest,

Thank you for writing this review on TA.

We are glad you and your finally enjoy your stay at Playafels Apartments.

Answering some of your comments, please, let me inform you that sometimes we have special discounts for beach loungers, but it depends on the promotions of the beach bar that holds it, of course. Maybe next time you come we can get some for you! :o) what we always provided free of cost are beach towels.

Thanks for your nice comments to our staff, I will personally warm Maite about your good impressions.

Regarding the lack of an open air terrace, in his beginning, the Hotel has this open area you missed, but in order to gain some indoor space we decided to covered it. Maybe in the future we reconsider the idea, thank you for your suggestion.

Hotel Playafels doesn’t have a fitness room in the Hotel but we have a sister Hotel also in Castelldefels, Gran Hotel Rey Don Jaime, with a wellness area (gym, indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath and squash courts) that all of our guestscan enjoy with no additional cost. I am sorry we didn´t mention this point in particular.

We hope next time we will be able to have your 5 star review!

Kindest regards,

Perfect for families with kids. And literally situated ON the beach. Excellent compared to most other hotels in the hood. Okay breakfast with a panoramic view of the beach. Fresh. Lack a bar for drinks, snack and water. A business opportunity for the hotel.

Dear guest,

Thank you for your comments about your stay in Hotel Playafels.

We are glad you and your family enjoy during your stay. It is delightful for kids to be in a Hotel with a pool, a garden area and next to a huge beach full of space to do million activities. As well for parents, a quite and safe area to rest and enjoy family quality time.

Although there isn’t a bar in the outdoor area of the Hotel, there are hot & cold drinks service everytime indoors. But if you are looking for some more, the neighbourhood is plenty of restaurants and tent bars.

You will always be welcome at Hotel Playafels.

Yours sincerely,

While some hotels claim to be on the beach front, that can sometimes mean over the road but this hotel is literally on the beach. The back entrance, which is through the lovely, peaceful garden and pool area, leads directly onto the sand.

The hotel: The Playafels is a small hotel and the white building is charming with a turret structure on one side and large, arch shaped windows in the breakfast room overlooking the beach. Although the common areas are old style (and this means remarkably wide corridors and a feeling of space you don't usually get in newer hotels) our room was well-maintained, spotlessly clean and modern.with flat screen TV, efficient air con and black-out blinds. The bed was very comfortable and the bed linen and towels were good quality. The bath was large and nice touches included slippers and extra towels in the room for the sun loungers near the pool. The large, furnished terrace had amazing views - sea, sea and more sea.

The staff were very nice - unobtrusive but very polite and helpful - and the breakfast was definitely worth it - a good selection (particularly recommend the Spanish omelette and delicious 'Serrano' ham) and excellent coffee.

The area: I have to say that living in Barcelona I felt a bit silly going for a weekend to a place which is 20 minutes from my house but I love the enormous beach in Casteldefels and it is a luxury to step straight from the beach to your room. Although it is a coastal resort, Casteldefels is also residential and has a nice mix of Spanish and foreign visitors. It has a good selection of bars and restaurants but is much more peaceful than some of the wilder Costa Brava resorts.

I loved staying at this hotel and found it excellent value. I would thorougly recommend it to anyone wanting a sun and sea break very close to Barcelona.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay at Hotel Playafels.

We feel proud you spend a great stay with us. As discover by yourself, Castelldefels is a great place close enough to Barcelona or the airport but perfect to disconnect from the city. The calm atrmosphere, without being boring thanks to the beach environment , tent bars and restaurant, makes this beach a perfect destination for holidays.

We will be delighted to welcome you again.

With kind regards,

We stayed one week, in one of the "towers" on the 1st floor. We were two adults, 1 child (7 yrs). The room was big enough for us, the bathroom spacious. Staff cleaned every day, it was nice and clean. The location was excellent. Next to the beach, and also with a private pool area. Staff spoke english and were always helpful. The hotel looked nice on the web site, but felt even nicer 1st hand. The blinds in front of the windows were SO effective, we slept until 10 am every day, everyone getting a good night's sleep and feeling rested. Efficient airconditioner.

We did NOT eat breakfast at the hotel, as I always feel they are overpriced. My tip is to go to the local bakery and get baguettes and water/juice. Or go to any of the small cafes near by, for coffee and mini baguette for a very low price.

The place is great for sun and swim, would recommend it warmly to others.

Room Tip: Rooms with sea view are quieter, and with lovely view. Sun on balcony all day.

A very charming hotel. The decor & furniture was a bit worn, but our room was perfectly nice & everything was quite clean. The staff were always helpful & pleasant. We only had one meal there, which was excellent. Breakfast was good enough, but the coffee gets full marks! It's position on the beach gives a stunning view from the restaurant & the many local restaurants & shops are on the doorstep.

We arrived on 22nd April at 2 pm and were greeted by Sol the receptionist. Such a charming and affable young lady! After a minor confusion over city tax, we were delighted to find that we were actually booked into a junior suite with a panoramic view of the beach!!

The room was absolutely wonderful! Spacious, meticulously clean (and my partner did check!) complete with an abundant supply of luxury toiletries. The view from the balcony was amazing!

We didn't avail of the breakfast on our first morning, having decided to seek out the favourite local breakfast restaurant, 'Hola Ola' but unfortunately it was being refurbished while we were there, however we did have breakfast on the second morning and would HIGHLY recommend! Very good value compared to restaurants outside the hotel. The breakfast was full of fresh fruit, cereal, fresh fruit juices, chipolatas, eggs (sunny side up), bacon, jamon, queso manchego, and all things continental, including tartlets and croissants etc. Word of caution, if booking online, make sure you book the hotel and not the apartments as the apartments are 100 metres away from the main hotel. We also noticed a few people at reception who were relocating from the apartments to the hotel. NB there is only one very small supermarket for the whole area (about 200 metres from the apartments). So glad we booked the hotel for this reason.

Room Tip: We were in a junior suite - Room 201! Perfect and really big!

Dear guests,

Many thanks for your time writing this review and for your staying at Hotel Playafels.

We are glad the Junior Suite exceed your expectations, certainly the rooms with balcony and seaviews are awesome and are perfect to relax on them. By other hand, our housemaids team work hard to have all clean for our guests, we are happy to pass the check test of your partner!

We also appreciated you like the breakfast, we serve it on a room with seaviews and we are particularly careful in the quality of the food, all is fresh and cook on the same day.

Regarding the comments about the apartments, we try to difference Apartments Playafels from Hotel Playafels online but after reading your review, we are going to check it to be assured it is well done, thanks for your help.

And last but not least, let me confirm you that are several supermarkets in the area, some are open 24h and some are a little far from the apartments, but are in the beach area, we will advise better to our guests of the apartments to prevent misunderstandings, thanks again for your help.

Your priceless contribution will let us to be greater hoteliers.

We hope to see you again in Castelldefels,
